In my time reading through this forum, i've seen that a lot of you guys speak very highly about this set and about how dangerous it is. As someone who has never used it very much at all, i was wondering if you guys could give input on what style of play you like using it in (power spread, RNS, etc.). All opinions and pointers are very much appreciated.

I, for one, can't stand this formation. It just doesn't click for me for some reason.

my fav formation. in fact i have one play i could run all game out of this one formation. clearout all
SL2 is open almost all day over the middle. they take that away, look to bomb deep, they take that away, his sl1 over the middle. they take that away, qb scramble. nasty play
you can read about it in my run n gun pb, i discuss a bunch of plays to run outta this formation.

DJ's run and gun thread!
That's what turned my opinion of this formation around this year.
I liked it better last year, and fluff like you I had a lot of trouble getting it to work this year, but then I read DJ's thread and started to reexamine the formation to see what I could do with it. Not only did I enjoy using his suggestions I kind of use all the running plays from this formation as my two point conversion series.
Its really paid divedends for me down in the goal area.

ask sparky about my shotgun bunch lol
naw, to be honest i just started using the speed option (out of all formations) and man, i've been sleeping on that. against sparky, that was the first time i used it and it's deadly
had to take a page or two out of craw's plays lol

Yes he's right clearout all out of SG bunch is a great play. I have this formation in my playbook solely because of clearout all and WR Rev Option Pass. I use WR Rev Opt. Pass as a running play and a lot of guys here think it's cheese because it's so easy to get a lot of yards with it but hey I'm not that good lol so I take liberty to use it 2-3 times a game. Use it too much and it's not so great because it can be stopped like everything else.

I don't know the play names off of my head, but there are a couple other passes I like in that formation (although I agree that Clearout is the best). The one where the slot does a streak is nice if you have a good slot WR. I usually put Clayton there if I'm OU, so you can catch people sleeping with a stud WR at slot. There is also a play w/ an HB angle route, but the other routes aren't that great. I usually have to hot route one of the WRs to a streak or slant for a secondary target.

..Let's put it this way...if I had to play with just two plays the whole game it would be Clearout and Speed Option out of SG Bunch.....by far my favorite formation in the game....there are 5 plays out of this formation that are money against the right looks on D and they don't take long to develop which helps against blitzers...

angles is a money play, clearout is money, speed option is money. if they load up the strong side (side with 3 WR's) the off tackle is money.
i love this formation, i just hate the high snaps. i think that's why i like iform normal now. but when things don't go right or it's 3rd and long, it's time for the old SG bunch.
funny, i played rhssoccer and he knew what play i was running lol (clearout) the very first time i ran it. i knew then, that i had to find other plays outta this formation.

still though, i didn't think he would think i was running it (guess i tried to pshycoanalize myself lol) using reverse reverse pshycology. lol
i line up in it (he has a headset) and says, "i know what's coming", i couldn't help but laugh. i may just have to hold on to all my money plays now lol

I don't have as much expertise as the guys in this thread but I love this formation too. although I've found that my bro's in my dynasty catch onto it quickly. It's still deadly as hell though, but just to change things up, I like motioning the HB out to give a 5 wide look...and to overwhelm the LB's (I've got fast HB's the blow right by 'em). If you like the Clearout All play, it's in another formation too,...Ace Trips or something like that.

clearout all is in shotgun trips
check this out, if you're getting bumped at the los, motion the back to the weak side of the field (side with only one WR). don't hot route him or anything, just let him run his route. he should be wide open over the middle.
i think that's gonna be one of my last tips i post on here lol :D . can't say too many others, guys are starting to know my tendencies online lol

melton, i don't think i ever officially answered your question. i guess the name for the offense i run with sg bunch is the power spread.
you can't just "make" this formation fit your team. you've got to have at least 3 decent WR's (at least 3 above 80 OVR) otherwise it's not as effective cause you have to hit your 3rd and 4th WR's for this set to be effective. you can get your back involved in the passing game by mixing in some motion here and there to keep your opponent off balance. and don't hesitate to throw in the speed option.

It's Rhssoccer7
Well I posted a post on the Defensive forum on how to stop it. You responded with something like this:
"It's my money play. it is even more deadly when used in SG Trips"
Well yes, I knew that play was coming lol
