I would like to see something like a training camp set up like in Madden, it is very helpful.

I don't play Madden, what is involved in the camp?

Training camp is way too easy in Madden. You have specific drills for all positions, I will list some examples, precision passing for QB, rushing attack for RB, trench fight for OL and DL, coffin corner for P, and swat ball for DB's. Once you master these drills, it is too easy for you to get an automatic 5 or 7 bonus points to be placed on designated player attributes. I like the vague training system in NCAA football, but I think every coach should have ratings for training and recruiting and along with your school's budget this would determine points for things like recruiting and off-season player progression.

Yeah they really haven't changed training camp drills for the past 3 years in Madden, and it is way to easy to get unrealistic progression from players every preseason. It might be cool for you to be player specific for things in a ncaa training camp, but not really do drills with the player. Maybe for D or O line have them develop strength, WR, HB and CB's develop technique, etc., with each skill affecting the players attributed in different ways and levels, so it would be more of a checklist of the roster, or drop down by position like in a depth chart setting

i wouldn't want a training camp like madden does, but how about the ability to control spring practice??? this way you would know who you're ptpers (as dick vitel would say) are and where you need help at for the next year. also let's you know which of your incoming freshmen you need to sit for redshirt and which ones need to play now (due to lack of talent on the team at spring practice and what not)
this way you have some sort of control over player ratings. i also think they should give some and i repeat some points for season stats
just some thoughts of mine

Just something to get your stick skills down besides a practice mode. Spring Practice would be good. Just something to improve your passing, running, punting, kicking etc.... not exactly the same training camp as madden but the same concept.

A little off topic, but they need to enable you to cut players other then once a year, training camp or spring practice might be a possibility. I would like to be able to lose guys during a season, or at the end of the season for disciplinary or other reasons, like they suck, so I have a better chance of getting new talent the following year and not have to wait a whole season to recruit another guy for that spot. If you cut them in a spriong practice, you wouldn't have the player or roster spot for the season, but you would have available space and scholorships for the next season, the way it is now, if don't cut guys after recruitment, and then they play bad, get beat out or are disciplinary problems you have to wait until after the following recruiting class and cut them, and then you still are down a player the following season.

hobbs, you xbox loser yankee fan (lol) are you even playin ncaa anymore??? lol
just messin with you man. great idea (also ties in with my idea for spring practice).
thing is, if we can come up with all of these neat ideas, why can't ea?? or why can't they just incorporate the consumer's ideas into thier games making the consumer happy? isn't that what supply and demand is? oh wait, that's right i passed economics in college with a 95. i'm stupid lol. this is ea we're talking bout. they'll just put a game together, slap the ncaa logo on their, give bogus ratings to players (how in the hell can a division 1 scholarship kicker be rated 48 overall??) and be happy while they rake in the dough
sorry, had to rant there

What you are wanting is what I want, scrimmage mode. I want to be able to run a 'practice game', that has the same game speed as regular games, has downs, kick-offs etc. Additionally, I'd like a mulligan feature as part of that. So, if you call a play and F it up, press mulligan and re-run the down with either the same play or a new one (although if you pick a new one the D should pick a new one too).

ah yes, the three most dreaded words in any football players vocabulary
"RUN IT AGAIN!!!!!"
man, i hated my coach sayin that, especially when i was on the scout team. cause the d knew where you were running too. sucked lol!

That made me laugh, Will. I gotta tell you, though, once you become a coach, "Run It Again!" is not as bad! Well, if it is bad, it's bad because you're pissed that your kids screwed it up and you have to waste time re-working the play. I'd like to have audible coach comments during the game and practice. Like on the coach animations where he's drilling the ref, instead of having it silent, play a Sam Wyche or Jerry Glanville classic like "Hey, our QB just got clubbed in the head and the neck! Now, he's gonna live, but that IS a penalty!"
