I can't see why the NCAA and EA can't strike a deal. I'm not talking about next year, but why is it sooooo bad that the college players' names could be on a friggin video game ????

Because EA would have to pay the players for the use of their names, and NCAA rules strictly prohibit such a thing.

That or there are some guys that will input every thing for you if you mail them your memory card.

hmmm I thought it was because of this years discipline. If i was a college player, i wouldn't wanna know that in a video game i did some crazy stuff...

The reason that college players cannot appear on NCAA are these:

1. They are not getting paid to play (leads into 2nd reason)

2. There is no NCAA Players Association as of yet (why would they ever need one if they are not getting paid) and this keeps the developers over at EA from putting the name's on the players....

So...there ya go!!!

no, same reason you dont see them on colleg jersys. Colleges make a nice buck off of teams. Penn St. 100,000 people a game for example

concessions
merchandise

oh yeah- dollar signs$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

There are probably more colleges who have players' names on the backs of the jerseys than do not. Penn St., Notre Dame, and maybe a couple of others don't, that's about it. I think the service academies even have players names on their jerseys.
