View Full Version : No more Best Player Closest to the Ball

that's where the problem lies with the qb scrambles. that's why they are so effective. when you're on d, you never know who you're going to get. that's a serious disadvantage to the defense and allows plays like the speed option (yes i said it) and the hb direct to be far more effective than they should be.

switching men should not be like russian roulette. can we please go back to the old "closest man to the ball" trick? please???

Got DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm finally glad someone else besides me has finally brought this to light. I have been clamoring for this for years. EA still hasn't figured it out yet.......... "switching to the best man" to make a play on the ball is not always the best man. I can't tell you how many times I have been screwed because the cpu switched me to the FS/SS [ who is at least 5 or more yards away!! :mad: ] instead of the DB [ who is a step or two behind/ running stride for stride ] covering the receiver.

it's not that. imagine how much easier it would be if you actually knew before you switched to a man which guy you were going to get. where it is now, you're guessing and over 85% of the time you get the wrong guy. instead of the DE who's right next to the qb, you get the lb who's 6-7 yards behind the play

another scenario, ever had a qb scramble and you wanted to click on to the db (who's actually the closest guy to the qb), but instead you get a DT who's behind the qb. by the time you get the db, the qb is 5-8 yards downfield

thought i'd bring this to EA's attention. one last try at least. please turn this off for next years game and take it to the old days of just the closest player to the ball. it's a hell of a lot easier when you know who you're gonna switch to

yeah but getting the "best player" instead of the closest player to the ball has nothing to do with the controls.

i'd just like to have some type of clue as to who in the hell i'm clicking on when i switch players.

another scenario: ever tried to defend the deep ball where you have a safety sitting there waiting on the ball and a db running with the wr. you press X and you get the db, not the safety?

i honestly believe this is the defenses biggest problem and could really help in toning down the effectiveness of the offenses.
