Lobber/Scrambler

I have a dilema on defense. My friend is a scrambler/lobber. If I play man coverage to stop the lob (double WR or a man 2 deep) he will run everyone off and scramble. If I play a zone (2 deep, 3 deep or 4 deep), even with a blitz, he manages to throw it deep with a high completion percentage. Any solutions. I know I need to get better at stick control but if I am in single coverage he will complete the deep bomb, so I always need double coverage, which leaves me vulnerable to the scramble. Thanks.

He likes I formation, which helps with max protect, as well as SG spread. I jsut can't seem to get there fast enough with any blitzes.

4-2-5 the SS zone blitz (forget the actual name). control the SS blitzing to the playside of the field. you've got the corners and the FS dropping back in deep thirds. he'll see zone and try to pass long on you. you should be able to break up the plays if he manages to get them off

dime - zone blitz, control the dime back on the play side and blitz him. not quite as effective as the 4-2-5 blitz, but you still have your corners dropping deep

you should be able to get decent pass rushes off of these plays even withought the AB blitz. if you don't get the sack, still try to hit him to rattle his qb. that will make his deep throws less on target.

if he doesn't consider it cheese, ab blitz him using the above blitzes.

if you know he's throwing deep (there are no deep fly routes in i form normal, so he'll have to audible) drop your secondary back, but bring the 2 guys blitzing up to the line off of your DE's

Thanks for the help. I haven't had much luck with the zone blitz, but I will try the one out of the 4-2-5. I haven't thought about hitting his qb and rattling him. Great idea. I like my 2 cb's and a fs dropping into the 3 deep. Usually it is a SS and he finds ways to exploit the mismatch. When you zone blitz do you control a DE or have them drop into coverage? The one in the filmroom has you control the DE, otherwise, the OT will block the blitzing SS's.

i control the man blitzing. all the linemen are blocking the defensive line which allows you to rush from the outside.
