i just stared playing this game online and it is way different then playing it agains the xbox. My first opponent used Texas, and yea i watch old vince play but jeez, how do u stop him from scrambling in the game. It seems every time the dude scrambled my cornerbacks ran away or just stood there.

I know how to hot route for a deep pass, a pass where receiver comes back, and when the reciever runs straight then takes left, but how do u do a slant hot route.

also what is the best playbook if u use georgia, i like their playbook, but is their a better one.

4-2-5 SS blitz (the zone blitz)

playbooks for georgia (my fave team): run n gun, oklahoma (the best), buffalo (really good too). you may want to take a look at wake forrest too

4-2-5 SS Zone Blitz
4-2-5 Double Spy (if you have good stick skills)
3-3-5 Double Spy (again if you have good stick skills)
3-3-5 Zone Blitz

I like the 4-2-5 as my base D...it provides a lot of ways to bring pressure and keep enough guys back to man up on pass plays (but it takes some getting use too, so beware..)

Oklahoma....I use it with just about any team.....

I think the slant hot route is L2 and R2, but you should be able to check it in the manual...

air man, you're slippin. he plays on xbox lol (read man, read! it's FUNdamental lol). i think it's either the triggers or the black and white buttons. it's a new feature, so either check your manual or check your "what's new" additions to the game (in game tutorial)

Slants are the small white and the small black buttons, learn those hotroutes they can really save your arse, especially switching the run play to the other side.

Its all in the book, you should find everthing there, and they are right about the 4-2-5 ss blitz, I play Texas and when someone starts running that I usually begin to take chances in the passing game and scramble far less.

Sack him in the backfield a few times and make him loose yardage and I guarantee he will abandon that mess either that or loose.

If you want really good coverage...

3-4 cover two man.... spread the ends WAY out.

Control the LB in the middle.

This works great for the idiots who constantly roll out or scramble in spread formations.

CrHawkeye--I fail to see how players who scramble out of 5 wide are "idiots." It is actually a very smart, and effective stategy to spread the defense out and then use your QB's speed to advantage by running where the defense isn't. Watch any real football game and you'll see this concept being used. Hopefully you weren't implying that this is some sort of "cheese," or something to be looked down upon.

It may just have been a case of semantics on your part, but I just don't understand why they would be "idiots" for doing something smart. Perhaps I read too much into it, who knows, but oh well.

The problem is that there's no way to tell your DE's to contain. They always rush the passer as though he's a pocket QB, and will routinely give up the scramble. Also, the spy plays don't really work correctly. In short, since the game does not provide adequate tools to stop the scramble, it's kind of lame to do so on purpose, or as part of a play design. If you play Madden, you'll notice that even with Michael Vick's 90+ SPD, it's almost impossible to effectively scramble the same way like you can on NCAA, because the defense has the necessary tools/AI to defend it.

Now, I'll scramble if I call a pass play and they drop 9 guys into coverage, or if I'm under pressure and don't have anybody open, but have an opening to run, but it's generally considered lame to make the QB scramble a major staple of your offensive gameplan.

I see what CR hawkeye is kinda saying, but not. I would say that when you play a team, you know what teh QB is capable of. More and More people are using USC, OKL and FSU and subbing in the 3rd string QB becasue they have speeds of 80+.Watch out for Louisville, Michigna and FSU as they ahve WR and RB that can also throw. I think it is a total joke, but for whatever reason, EA doesn't let these guys miss a beat and they hold on to the ball extremly well. Rhombic is right though, the game does not give adequate tools in terms of DE assignments to contain the qb. at some points in a game it almost a joke the way the OL can hold the DE or D plyers as the guy is running by and their is no call made.

In terms of your question of containing the scrambling qb, their are several things you can do.

1. DELAY BUMP - I know its in the film room and soem consider it cheese, but it is a great tactic when you get a scrambling QB. For those of you that don't agree, you can go screw yourselves and while your doing it watch some football. LSU and USC are huge proponents of this tactic and it shows. As well Oregon uses it and did it numerous times in their game in o3 vs Utah and won the game. I know the delay is not perfect, but what it allows you to do is make contact while the runner is in the route. Saban teaches this in man as well as ZONE coverage, something that this game does not do. And for those of you who think this is BS, what is BS is the fact that when your WR comes running by my LB on a cross and I hit him he is only held up and not laid out on the ground. In terms of what WR are taught, they are taught to avoid contact with the DB. In this game that does not happen and they are very rarely ever blown off the course of their route. DB use this tactic to direct wr in or out of the seams based on the coverage that they play. The reason Saban is successful is that in his scheme, in a zone coverage the DB or LB is taught to hit the man that crosses his face at 10 yds! Remember this is college football and you can touch them until the ball is in the air. Basically the 10 yard rule is used to redirect the WR to where the support is based on the D called. How many times inthe game does a LB who is dropping in zone actually rub and give a shot to a WR who crosses him, next to never. this is about the only tactic of its kind except the manual delay bump.

2. Manual Delay bump. This is to be prcticed then used. I am sure that once you ahve used the delay, someone starts putting a rb or WR in motion and he gets him on your Safties with out the bump or over loads the side. For a RB you can maually cover them, but for wr who have been motioned an dthe DB is standing on the other side of the field, this is for you.Just put the bump and run on and manually move your DB's back 7 yards. If he motion the wr the db will follow and he will get bumped.

3. If those fail 3-3-5 middle blitz. d bump them, hit coverage audible. Make sure the 2 lb blitzing the OG are to the 2 wr side and the 1 lb blitzing the gaurd is to the 3 wr side. move the 2 lb up to the OG and then control the single lb blitzer. Hold the LB shift button so he doesn't blitz and hold him over the gaurd. Once the ball is snapped the gaurd will wait for him as he tghinks he is coming allowing there to be a 4on 3 from the center over. Then move him back into covergae or slide him to the outsdie if the qb scrambles away from the blitzer on the other side.

Except they don't bump, they hold, which is illegal. You cannot hold an eligible receiver downfield. They don't bump, they hold for 3 or 4 seconds. If you think that's even close to realistic, then you don't know football. If a team did anything even remotely close to that in real life, they'd get flagged for defensive holding every single down until they stopped. Also, even if you try to throw them the ball, the refs still will not call pass interference, despite the fact that they are hitting a WR while the ball is in the air, several yards downfield.

The LB's really get away with it on TE's and WR's, even in normal coverage. I can't tell you how many times I've seen my TE being held 10 yards downfield for 5 or 6 seconds, and they will never throw the flag.

Thanks for the clarification, I know that they hold. So what. There are many things in the game that are not right. Fact is if the game was like the real thing a bump 10 yards down the field or even 5 yards down the field would most likely take the rec out of the play anyway. In this game it doesn't. I have never seen more rec get bumped and just shrug it off than what goes on.
Guess what I don't care. For what he is posting, I am giving him ways to counter the spread with the QB scramble. He did not ask for the ETHICS POLICE to give him the proper way to do it. I too have gone through this and My game will not be wasted by some NO SKILL player that will keep subbing in 1st, 2nd string qb or a wr to get speed at the qb posiiton, just waiting for the opportunity to lob the ball down field. That is not what I consider football and I promise you I will not sit there and allow anyone to play that crap against me.
