I want to use a team that can compete, but isn't used by everybody and their brother.I like the game but don't really know much about college football as far as team strengths and weaknesses.I don't want to use USC,Ohio State,Oklahoma,Texas,or any of the other SUPERPOWERS.What's a good team that's close to being great, that you don't think will be overused online ?

Dang. You just named 3 of my top 5 teams. 2 of which (Ohio State and Oklahoma) are my true life favorite teams and I've been playing with them for years. Texas, I must admit I am a bandwagonner here. I have always liked VT. And Florida rounds out my top 5 so far. If you like using the TE, give UCLA a burn. Their TE is 6'7"!!!

Georgia Tech has a good HB, decent secondary, 3 speedy WR, and the QB has 80+ speed if you run the option. BC is also not bad, but their qb is slower.

QB is HOT, RB is good, 3 decent recievers. Defense is Okay...
And Marcedes Lewis (UCLA TE) Is a PROBLEM!
The only one better is Dominique Byrd(sp?) from USC. TE with 91 SPD!?!?!

Great defense. 2 impacts on the defensive line, and one impact in the wr position... If you want a team that is not in the top 25, ranked 37 I believe, and can do some damage against any of the big teams. Take a look at ncst. I have beat both Tenn, and Georgia with the Wolfpack

Yes Sir NC State is a sleeper. They have enough quality players everywhere to compete. My brother found out last night about the pack as I dropped him 42-7 as he brought Okie State to Raleigh

MIZZOU ... Thats the best team to be if you want a small but capable school. (http://www.easports.com/games/ncaa06/onlineplay/statbook/home.jsp?server=ncaa2006&playername=kcJUGGALO&platform=xbl&x=48&y=6)

I love Auburn. I have had great success with their D, their O is ok but the running game is sick.

Try Purdue. They have 2 solid RBs and 2 Impact WRs. Kirsch has decent speed and good arm at QB. The Oline is above average. The Dline is above average and they have solid LBs.
On top of that, you get to play vs. top 10 teams (Mich and OSU, not the first year of Dynasty though).
Just remember....If you dont beat Notre Dame, Mich, or OSU.....your season was a complete waste!

no question about it...Georgia Bulldogs. dj shockley is 90 overall and can run (84 speed), all the WR's have over 90 speed, an impact player at TE, a good oline, and a killer defense.

i bet i could....................with georgia lol. naw though, seriously i bet i could.
georgia is being slept on though. they are my team. in 11 games i've play VT 5 times..............you do the math. surprised i haven't run into texas yet.
honestly though, i think the most slept on team is colorado. m-dub kicked a 59 yard field goal against me last night and recorved an onside kick (cheating bastard lol! ;) ) they are solid across the board.

I played with Georgia the other day. I must agree that they are a great team.

Being a Hawk fan I cant play with any others. The sad thing is that we are ranked in the game 3rd however, at skill positions we are blown away by many teams below us. There is also no crazy speed guy on Iowa, like that wr from Ohio St.
I think we are pretty solid over all though. I just bleed gold and black so don't really play many of the others.

Since DJ let the cat out of the bag...
I get all kinds of rushing yards with Colorado (unranked B+ team) using Ohio's PB. They have an Impact FB (Lawrence Vickers) who is a beast. He's got 85 speed, so you can also line him up at HB. He's got solid hands out of the backfield as well. Their top 2 HBs are only 82 ovr & 78 ovr, but they're fast, with 94 & 91 spd respectively. O line is decent. They usually hold their blocks long enough for me to turn the corner. Their top two TEs are 92 ovr (#89 Joe Klopfenstein - he's the pass catcher) and 89 ovr (#45 Quinn Sypniewski - he's the blocker). If you like running the option like me, you'll want to use QB #7 Bernard Jackson. He's 76 ovr with 84 spd. You'll probably want to hit a couple high percentage swing passes before you go deep with him. Otherwise, you can go with #14 Joel Klatt, an 86 ovr pocket passer, he's only 65 spd but obviously a more accurate passer. The WR corp is not spectacular, but it's deep. Your top 4 WRs are 84, 82, 80, & 80 ovr. #9 Blake Mackey has 93 spd, so look to him for your deep threat. I try to use a lot of 2 TE formations like Ace Normal, I Tight, & Maryland I to take advantage of the extra blocking.
Defense is pretty good all around. Good D line and LBs, including an Impact OLB (#27 Jordan Dizon). CBs are a little iffy, but they've got good speed, so if you have good stick skills, you can switch to them and make a play. FS is 90 ovr and their top two SSs are 90 & 86 ovr, which is great for 3-3-5 or 4-2-5. The only time you'll ever have anyone ranked below 80 on the field is in Nickel & Dime (your 3rd & 4th CBs).
They also have by far the best kicking game of any team on the game. #16 Mason Crosby is a 96 ovr Impact kicker with 98 kpw and 88 kac. I've hit a 63 yarder online and a 65 yarder vs the CPU with him (with little to no wind at my back). John Torp, their punter, is 99 ovr with 94 kpw & kac, so he can get you out of some jams when your offense can't move the ball. If you reorder their roster, be sure to put Crosby back in at KOS. He sends them 7 yards deep in the end zone consistently.
I wouldn't be surprised if CU ends up being an "overused" team before too long, but right now they're my little secret.

Doesn't #11 Hinkle (sp?) have good speed? I know he blazes in real life. I was surprised he wasn't an impact player this year. One impact LB is nice, but two seems like overkill.

His speed is actually not very good, but hes reliable and he fights for the ball. The speed is in secondary wide out 88 solomon.
Hinkle is a stud for sure...going to miss him when he leaves this year, just a quality player and over achiever.

That's not Dom Byrd with 91 speed, that's Fred Davis. He was a WR converted to TE. Look at hsi size, he only weighs 215. Great as a pass catcher tho.
