Last night I played a guy using Michigan. He ran the same play a lot, which was a 2 tight end set with 2 in the backfield. He would then motion one or the other of the WR to clear that side of the field and then run the ball. It was at least 10 yards a play and the only way I found to slow it down was to do all out blitzs which aren't going to cut it with people that are smarter.
So my question is How do you stop that play. I'd also love to hear some thoughts on stopping the option which seems rediculously over powered. I'm not very good at the option yet myself but I've run into quite a few players that are.

The best way to practice against this is to go into practice mode with two controllers (offense and defense) and try different defensive schemes against his play. Experiment with slanting your line, blitzing linebackers, spying your ends, etc.

I think it's called 4-4 Zone Dog blitz or something like that. I have good success against the option using this. Shift the line to the strong side. If you think he's gonna run the reverse/weakside option where the QB fakes the handoff playside then turns back the other way to run the LB will nail him in the backfield before he even gets started. If he runs it to the strong side then the DE and LB's do a good job at handling the QB - you just have to be skillful in controlling your safety to take the pitch man or watch out for playaction. GL.

I will look lab this vs the Eagle Defense tonight for you and see.
I know a buddy of mine who runs the ball very well in the Ace and I-Form sets was shut down by the Eagle Defense by me the other night.
What formation is he running from? I-Twins, Power I, etc...

If he's using motion to clear a side of the field im assuming your in man coverage so switch to zone so they stay put and then use blitzes.
Hope this helps however if Im misunderstanding something then sorry :p

if youre in a man coverage and he sends a man in motion then your man, in turn will go with him. use a zone coverage with an outside blitz and your man will not only stay there, but stuff the impending run.
