One thing we should have mentioned in the book is defensive team speed. If I'm not using Miami I don't put a Spy on Young because I don't have the speed at the DE, LB or Safety positions to stop him from making it to the corner. There are a couple of other teams that have the speed, I just don't use them. Young has 92 speed so he's going to beat most DE's and LB's to the corner. Check your team roster and see what kind of speed you have at the DE, LB and Safety position. If you have nothing above 92 then spying a guy like Young is a waste of time.

Well what to do against a guy like Young if you don't have that speed. Live and die by the blitz. Use containment type blitzes with guys from the outside. Be sure he cannot run up the middle. I'd go for safe zone blitzes. Most guys that use Young either run or they pass deep. So I'd go with zone blitzes that will contain him.

possible to use a 3-4 and put your fastest LB's at the Mike and Mac and put your fastest DB's at the Sam and Will if you use a 3-4 as your base and don't like to use the 3-3-5

I went inot practice mode and had some success with the 3-3-5 SS Zone Blitz.

I think the 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 are your best bets, as both formations are loaded with zone blitzes that bring a alot of outside pressure. I agree, I've been using the SS Zone Blitz pretty consistently against option QBs, and have found that it's really effective. I stay away from man-man blitzes against option QBs; if he manages to beat your outside contain, your DBs have they're backs turned to him (especially in 06) and hes gone.

PPL have already started on the Vince Young and Vick scambling and throw deep issues.

One thing I know, if they play under the center with Vick or Young, the Eagle D eats them up.

In order for them to be effective, they are going to have to spread us in the Shotgun.

If you have the personnel, the 3-4 Double OLB Spy can be useful. Depending the area of field. Adjust the line to stunt to the strong and crash the line to the strong, and manually play the Mike LB in the soft middle. Sometimes also, change the outside LB's spy assignments to blitz's.

The LB's wont charge after the QB until he breaks the pocket, if the human QB see's this, he will learn to just set in the pocket and look downfield cause he knows your just using spy's.

Run the D as a base, then mix the playcall between spys and blitzes through your defensive aubliles.

If you let these scambling QB's roll out of the pocket with no pressure, they the WR's will break past the zone and the QB will throw deep to open recievers.

I know if you, control all 8 gaps in the line, the pursue is good.

Being able to control the 8th gap is critical in the Eagle Defense.

Crap, like I know where the 8th gap is, hell I have a hard enough time finding any kind of gap!

I ran the 3-4. spread and blitzed lb's last night and did alright. I won 24-6. I'm lovin the stunts and d-line shifts. You can get some good pressure. Like they say in the VPB it's not all about sacks just pressure.

Does anybody play with someone other than VT or Texas online? Geez.

I had a guy last night take vince young on 4th and 24 on my 40. I called Dime corner blitz, He took off running backward and toward the side to the left of the Tv screen. all the guys rushing followed him over to the side line, where he proceeded to run all the way down to his own 20. he then ran across the field and turned it back up the opposite sideline and ran it all the way in for a TD. when I say my guys followed him, I mean they were all in a blob chasing him, just like the old John Elway game on nintendo back in the day. this guy did this a couple times during the game. although I won the game, it wasn't very fun at all to have to do that all game long. and I am not making it up, it was literally 60 yards back and 80 yards forward and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. I'm just glad I rented it this year instead of buying it.

Uh...you may have wanted to offer that fool a friendly quit..Thats straight garbage ball there bro..Running backwards is always cheese when its a planned portion of the play.

I'm a little confused. How can you do stunts? Take contorl of D-lineman and manual stunt? Or call a play that already calls for a stunt?

He's talking about the fan and pinch stunts...Like L1 then right analog down or up...And you can make your DEs spy and make your LBs blitz...

yeah that crap pisses me off to no end also. what garbage. same crap happend to me the other night. some f$#$stick used a garbage call like that and i started stopping him so he began saving it for crucial situations. i really hate discussing strategies for defending these goofballs. i counter garbage with garbage. i had my LB's in place of my DE's and my safeties in for LB corners in at Safety and wr's in at CB. sad that i had to resort to such bologna myself but i was not losing to this duetshe. He still got me a few times(if you can call it that). for instance, on a 2 pt conversion I pursued him all the way back to his own 20 and after about 2 minutes i got tired of watching vince run from sideline to sideline and i went in for the kill... naturally, vince broke my tackle and the chase was on. he outran my "glob" of players all the back to the endzone for the conversion. i had to buy another controller and patch a hole in the wall b/c of this BS. spy your speed guys and be patient. try to get a lead so that he isnt able to "balance" his playbook. if he is able to use some "traditional offense" and mix in some "cheese", it's pretty much undefendable. what kills me are guys who run it outside with vince and watch for openings over the middle. I finally eliminate these two options and the guy then just runs around back and forth in the backfield while my defenders lose intelligence. the result is usually about a 25 yd completion to either sideline. just dont play these idiots. there is enough of them to play with each other(lol). i will not play 3 teams(you can figure them out). also(without giving too much info ), he was using a particular formation along with no huddle to offsides me over and over. if i knew where this guy lived i would have sabataged his internet service.
