How do I stop people from auto-bouncing runs to the outside?
I'm talking about when someone picks a HB dive, or HB counter and instead of running the play, they just turbo straight to the outside turning the play into a sweep. Usually my linebackers get sucked inside on these plays, and if the guy has a speedy hb, he can do this all day long for big gains. Personally I think it's cheap to call an inside run play, and just sprint straight to the outside but I see it constantly. People have been doing it since madden 2000.
The only success I have is blitzing corners with zone blitzes, so my lbs don't go inside, and I have someone to guard against the outside run. However this seems to be hit or miss, as the guy will usually have a blocker, and be in a one on one situation with a corner back. Is there way to force my opponent inside on inside runs, while not giving up much? I find I can stop runs that are designed to go to the outside, adn I can stop runs that are designed to go to the inside and actually go inside, but this 'auto-bounce' is killing me.
I'm not a big manual defense guy either, so I'm looking for playcall strategies, not pre-snap player move ment strategies. :)
