Okay guys, as I said before, I'm gonna do a dynasty thread of my own, for my GASO dynasty. Now, I'm writing this first to see how much reponse I get, and I'm only gonna put a lot of work into, which I will, if I get a few people reading it.

The dynasty will be played in AA; 6 min quarters, using sliders from Wolverineman over at MM.

I'm not just gonna post what I do, it is going to be in story-form. My first few times writing will only be lead-ups to the pratice, and regular season. I will play every game. I'll take some pictures during the game and post them here so you guys can understand what I'm talking about visually.

Like I said, if a few people respond as intrested, I'll go ahead and start writing the introduction of the coach, division set-up, schedule and such. If you guys will read, I'll put the work into it.

Sounds good man... I seen on some other forums they have threads like that but I love VG's forums they load a LOT faster than the others atleast for me anyways and the people here seem to know football as much as gaming.

Georgia Southern moving to Division I-A Sports
Georgia Tribune

After the long wait; 2 years since the announcement, GASO is finally moving into the next level of collegiate sports. This fall, the Eagles will play in Division I-A football, as well as basketball this winter. This is the 1st school from the Southern Conference to makes it way into I-A in the last 8 years, Marshall being the last.

A press conference was held yesterday afternoon, right outside of Allen E. Paulson stadium. Peter Reed, the Athletic Director, started by telling everyone of the plan to reconstruct the fieldhouse to allow for bigger seating.

"We want to see more of you out there, supporting your Eagles, and becoming the 12th man. Do this, and we already have an advantage."

He also went on to talk about the differences in the move from AA to single A.

"It has been a tough, slow, complicated process. But we made it. We are here; and lets take it to 'em."

Cheers were heavy when Mr. Reed announced that the Eagles would be allowed to play any team, as it is not set in a conference.

"It's good, I think," said Head Coach Mike Sewak. "It should help ease our transition into the best football in the country."

The Eagles are not in a conference, however do have a few "set" games. They are required to play at least 1 team from each of the BCS Conferences, and also play one other independent. This was part of the mutual agreement made by the NCAA Board of Directors and Mr. Reed.

The schedule itself is expected in less than a week.

Sudden Change in Heart
Georgia Tribune

4 days after the cermony of the Georgia Southern Eagles move to Division 1-A sports, Coach Mike Sewak announced that he will step down as coach of the Eagles.

Just 2 days ago, Coach Sewak suffered a heart attack while preparing for lunch. He was quickly rushed to the hospital, and was stabilized within a minutes. However, he has had some aftermath. He was told by doctors that for the next 4-6 months, not to stay in hot weather conditions for more than 15 minutes, among other things. However, this was all the the beloved Coach said at the press conference.

Athletic Director Peter Reed understood completely, and as a friend of Coach Sewak, will allow him to stay on as a scout/recruiting coach, only to work limited time. It is expected that he will do little of anything this year.

Coach Sewak made a short statement, describing what had happened, what is happening, and future plans.

"I will continue to help this football program, in anyway I see possible."

He also commented on the future for the program.

"I feel proud with what I've done. I got them here. Let's see if they can do the rest."

Sewak's announcement was short, and was quickly taken back to the hospital. Just over a month away from the start of spring training, and the Eagles are without a coach.

I figured I'd start it with newspaper articles. Yea, they're short, but you guys don't want to read that much of my writing. :D

Peter Reed lifted his head from his desk. It had been a long day. 2 press conferences, 3 interviews, and now, 4 weeks from the biggest moment of his programs life, he had no coach. The thought of who to hire hadn't crossed his mind; or at least not to a point where he was thinking about it. He shuffled through some papers that were pilled onto his oak desk, and found what he was looking for. He called he seceratary.

"Hey Lisa, can I get you to come in here for a second?"

She didn't respond, but within seconds the door opened.

"Yes sir?"

"Sit down Lisa."

"Are you firing me?"

"No, why would you think that..." He thought about it for a second, and understood how she could be confused. "Anyways, I'm not firing you. But I do need something from you." She sat down as instructed, and then a bright yellow sheet of paper flashed before her eyes. "I need the phone number of THAT guy." She seemed startled for minute, then left quietly and sat back down at her desk.

"Okay, one more thing to do." For some reason, he always seemed to talk to himself. He didn't understand why either, but it was a habit he had developed. "Being alone in this office all day will do that to ya." He chuckled and continued on writing his speech that he would give at the introduction of the new coach.

After an hour, Lisa returned. "I got the number you wanted. He has been vacationing in Puerto Rico, but he will be back tommorrow. He is the phone number to the hotel."

"Perfect, even better than if he was here. Thanks Lisa." He snatched his phone up from the floor where he had pushed it to after getting the call about Mike. He dailed the number and request room 210.

"Hello there. Say, Tough, what do you think about Division I-A football?"

Great start, will Ga. Southern, be sticking with the flexbone triple option?

Great start, will Ga. Southern, be sticking with the flexbone triple option?

I hope so, at least at first. I will most likely be using Air Force's PB.

I'll post the next segment introducing coach Tough Barton (that's who Peter was talking to on the phone if you didn't catch that) in an hour or 2.

Peter Reed, Athletic Director: "Hello, and thank you all for coming out today. We don't have too much time as we want to get coach Barton involved with the team today, possibly running some drills but mostly getting to know the players. They have a lot to do in the next 4 weeks before our Blue and Gold game, which will be helf August 25th, right here in the Allen Paulsen field, at 3 o' clock. So, without further adu, Coach Tough Barton."

Heavy Cheers

Tough Barton, ex-Flordia A+M coach: "Thank you Peter, and it is an honor to stand before you today. I've worked a long time to make it here and I hope that I can do what you all want me to. It was a very unfortunate thing that happened to Coach Sewak, but hopefully I can do what you would have expected from him. So, I guess I can go ahead and open this up for questions. Only a few though, I have a team meeting in about 30 minutes."

Reporter: "Coach, you built the Flordia A+M program by yourself in Division I-AA, and made them a contendor, do you hope to do the same here?"
Barton: "Well, idealy yes, but this process takes time. I don't expect to much of myself or the team this year, other than to go out and compete every game; and not get blown out. If we do that, we're off to a good start."

Reporter: "How many games do you plan on winning?"
Barton: "I have no idea. I couldn't guess, nor would it matter if I did. Next question."

Reporter: "How long do you plan on staying with the team?"
Barton: "As long as I'm wanted. That may be 1 year, 2 years, 10 years, who knows? I will, of course, step down if Coach Sewak is healthy enough to take back his job."

Reporter: "What kind of offensive scheme do you plan on running?"
Barton: "Quite unsure at this point. Even if I was, there is a good chance I wouldn't tell the media."

Light Laughter

Reporter: "Do you feel this a team that can compete with the likes of USC and Texas?"
Barton: "Sure, why not? That's enough, thank you."

Without another word, he walked off the stage. He didn't like the media much, especially when they questioned his teams ablitly. He knew what he had; a Divison 1-AA national championship contendor. Unsure of what that translated to, he walked into the Georgia Southern Film Room, and sat down to talk for the first time to his players....

He rolled up his seleves and opened his playbook. It was ironic. 2 years ago he tried to beat some of these guys. Now he was coaching them. He lifted his head and saw 54 heads starring at him with full attention. He didn't mind that.

"Well, let's get this started, shall we? I know you guys have been going through a rough time lately, with your coach's health problems and such, but we need to put that behind us. We are 1 month away from playing a Division I, single A team, and to be honest, none of us are ready for that. Hell, I'm not. I'd be lying if I said I'm completely calm and that I have no fears we will compete, but I do. And you should to. If you are sitting here thinking your good enough to play with the likes of Reggie bush or Marcus Vick, you are sadly mistaken. The next 4 weeks will be hell. I'm not lying about that. We will train, and run, and run, and train and run run run till we are ready to go back to training. You will be here at the pratice field at 8 o' clock every weekday morning from now till school starts, and you will leave here at 8 o' clock at night. On Saturdays you will come at 7, and you will leave at 10. On Sundays, all of us will attend our respective places of religion. I don't care if your Christian, Jewish, or Muslim, you're going. If I find you do not attend church, or whatever you happened to be attending, you will be suspended the first half of the next game. The rest of Sunday is your time off. Cherish it, it's all you get. Curfew is 1:30 AM. Anyone out after that gets 1 game suspension, 3 for 2nd time. Anyone late for practice gets 1 quarter taken away every time you do it. Anyone who leaves early gets the same punishment. Drinking is not allowed during the football season. I don't care if your over the age, it is not allowed. Anyone found drinking will recieve a 3 game suspension. Anyone found drinking and driving is gone for the year. If you do either of those things twice, your off the team. No questions asked. Smoking, or doing any kind of drugs results in a automatic suspension from the team, and I doubt i'm letting you back on. If you skip any classes, 1 game. Cheating on anything, 3 games. You begin to fail any class, you will recieve a Tutor who will tutor you from the end of church or whatever it is you go to till 7 o' clock Sunday night. Anyone who gets arrested, you are gone from the team. Anyone accused of taking money and/or any kind of benfits will also be gone, and you will not come back. Any other kind of punishment will be given as we get to it. It is 3 now, I want to see everyone on the field in half an hour, no equipment, just running clothes. Now, let's go have some fun."

And he left...

11:25 PM; GASO Locker Room
July 30th

They ran. Boy did they run. For 7 hours nothing but running. No weight lifting. No drills. No cones. No water. Just running. Sprints, hurdles, the track, anything to do with running, they did it. Hell was an understatement. Quarterback Ray Jefferson had passes out mid-way through the 6th hour; coach gave him a water bottle and 2 minutes before he was back out there. B.J. Cook, one of the team's leaders at RB, who is also a senior, asked the coach when they were done. He responded by adding another hour to the time, forcing them to go till 11. Now they all sat in the same room, everyone sitting but Coach Barton. He took his hat off and joined them in sitting.

"You probably all hate me now, and that's understandable." He adjusted his tie and put one knee on the cold cement, covered in sweat. "This was the day you all proved something to me. You should your guts and determentation to win football games. That's what I want. That's what I need you to give me to prove you want to play football here. Everyone one of you showed the tonight. EVERYONE! Now I'm not going to bore you will so long-*** speech you don't want to hear, so here it is. We are going to play, and we are going to win. If someone thinks they can prevent that, we won't let them. We will fight to the finish if we have to but we will not fall as a team or as individuals."

He again adjusted his tie. He often did this when he was nervous, and he was nervous a lot. He didn't know what to say now. He simply lifted himself up off the floor, and went into his office. He thought to himself..

"That's the 2nd time I've done that today..."

He pulled out his playbook and sat it on his desk. He then read over his roster, counting each player. He still heard no movement from outside and couldn't understand why. He picked up his phone and called Peter Reed.

"Hi Lisa. - No that's okay. I guess your the person I need to talk to. I need about 55 copies of my playbook for the team. - Right. Well I'd lik to have them by tommorrow, if at all possible. - You can? - Great. Thanks for your help. - Will do. Bye."

Still no reaction from outside. What could he do? He didn't know. He did leave his hat out there. he liked that hat. He didn't want to leave it behind.

Soon after dismissing the team, he walked to his car, and drove home. His wife as asleep, and of course the kids were out. He kicked his shoes off, one hitting the cat, causing a screech which then woke his wife.

"Back so soon?"

"Sorry, hunny, damn kids needed to work out. Let's go to bed."

No argument came from the other side of the bed. Seconds later, he was out himself.

This is a creative idea, and for the most part, you're doing a good job. Just a couple of comments, since you asked for feedback. According to your story, the coach makes them run basically nonstop for 7 hours, in August. Sorry, but from a coaching perspective, that would NEVER happen. Not with all the players who have died from heatstroke in the last 5 years. Also, the coach "adjusted his tie" after the practice... I don't think he would be wearing a tie after a 7 hour practice in August in Georgia, but that is nitpicking, I realize. Also, "you are writing a story" = "you're" not "your." What can I say, I'm a coach and an English teacher.

LOL... thanks...

I'm trying to do this as quick as possible, to get in as many years, so typos will happen. The 7 hour thing was so supposed to seem a little excessive. Just trying to show what this coach wanted. He was coming straight there from a press conference, so that's why he had the tie on.

Glad to see I have a couple of readers. :D

Good to see someone else has a GSU dynasty. I ran with them for 16 seasons with 2005 and I'm in season 5 with 2006. I started out in the Sun Belt, moved to the MAC for one season and now I'm in the SEC.
