What would YOU do?

Situation:

Fourth and goal from the nine. No. 5 Arkansas trails No. 1 Southern Cal 35-23 in Fayetteville late in the third period (maybe 1-2 minutes left... playing All-American level, 8 minute quarters).

It was 35-21 at the half, so I had been holding SC so far in the third and even got a sack for a safety.

My thinking was that I was already down two scores and a field goal would still leave me down 9 (two scores).

Hindsight says I shouldn't have gone for it. I didn't make it and USC took the momentum and won 65-35. I have never lost like that in recent memory.

What would you do?

Go for the TD or kick the FG?

In the 3rd with 8 Minute quarters... I would have had to Kick the 3 and be down 9 then all you need is a score and a FG to win. USC is tough to slow down though and bush can eat a lot of clock on ya so I guess either choice could be the right one. One of those things where if you score you made the right decision but if they stop you well you should have kicked the FG... but me I'd gone for the 3.

Me.... I would have gone for it. I'd hope that if I didn't get it I could keep them pinned get another safety , block a punt or decent field position.

In real life I'd probably kick it, you know not walk away empty handed and let the kids get deflated kind of thing....

I had sort of the same problem I was playing VA,had been shutting them out and blitzed my LB even though he was supposed to be locked up in man coverage with a RB, what happens but the CPU converts 3rd and Long, scores a TD... it bothered me so much I gave up a friggin Hail Mary to the CPU before the end of the half because I didn't want to risk another blitz, its the first time I've given up a hail mary to the cpu....I should have forgot about the first play and gone all out the next time out.

Can't kick yourself for trying to win RazorBacker!

From the 9, you simply HAVE to take the 3. If you were inside the 5, you could try play action, but on a game I'd be afraid the CPU would cheat and stuff you. I'd probably take the 3 in both real life and on a game. But, if you went and got it, you'd look like a genius.

Call the hb direct, bring an additional receiver and run to the cone. Most likely you would've scored. I know people r kind of negative against the direct, but in certain plys, especially the shotgun tight formation. It is a good goal line ply.
