This is the first time in about 7 years I haven't bought NCAA as soon as it came out. I was thinking of getting Madden instead this year. I decided tonight to rent NCAA, because I've been reading the comments on here. I brought it home and started a dynasty with my Irish on AA with default sliders. I thought about scheduling a patsy opener since I've read that the AI and stuff is much improved this year. I decided to go ahead and play the scheduled opener at #23 Pitt, half expecting to get my butt whipped. I led at halftime 21-3, scoring on my first 3 drives. The CPU finally woke up in the 2nd half and hit 2 passes of 80+ yards to a player who I guess is an impact WR, since I couldn't tackle him once he caught it. The final was 44-17, my impact TB #3, (Darius Walker) ran 20 times for 220 yards and 4 TD's. There was nothing about this years game that wasn't simple. The only things I had trouble with were the defensive controls, which I switched back to last year's settings, and the PAT meter, which moved so slowly I actually stopped it too soon and missed an extra point. I was breaking 10-15 yard runs by both backs right up the middle. I usually control the LDE, and I had 2 sacks and several pressures. Is the game really this easy, or am I darn good? I've been playing previous years of the game for a long time, but I always thought it was a little trickier to master a new edition than this. What do you guys who have played it more think? I'm not sure the game is worth the $5.80 I paid to rent it for 5 nights if it's this easy. How is it on Heisman?

I started a dynasty with Boise State on AA, and let me tell you, the game is that easy. I wanted to make sure that I got some respect in the polls, so I lined up a few solid Pac-10 games (Washington and Oregon State). I've worked them both, the closest of the two was against Oregon State; 42-21. Boise's a solid team, they're ranked in the top 25, but they probably shouldn't be leading the nation in total offense or total yards rushing half way through the season. I'm gonna jump up to Heisman, I'll let you know what I find.

Heisman is playable this year, but with some slider adjustments for HUM pass block and CPU break block. The CPU pass rush on the Heisman level is overdone (usually your QB only gets about 2 seconds to throw) as well as the number of pancakes the CPU racks up. The speed cheat is toned down except for impact players. The speed of the kick meter takes some time to get comfortable with, but practice mode certainly helps.

Whoa, game 2 at Michigan didn't go quite as well for my Irish, as we got hammered 40-7. The impact players on the Wolverines are a bit overdone, on one play their TB went up the middle, and by the time he got to the LOS, it looked like a punt return. I don't think he got touched. Also, why is it that the CPU's impact defenders make lots of plays, while my impact FS #9 can't even make a tackle? What a joke that guy is.
