honestly theres nothing really different in this years from last..save your money and continue playing 05....not to mention the superstar mode takes away from all things football and concentrates on other crap..whats next for 07 simulated showers??im dissapointed in this years..i expected it to at least be better than 05 but theres really not to much of a difference

I put "would return it if I could."

But the reality is that I never bought it. I spent several hours tinkering with it at Best Buy to make my decision on the game, and opted not to purchase it this season.

Of course asking such a question on these boards mandates a higher "yes, I love it" response, simply because most people that chose not to buy it aren't going to come to a web site for the game.

It's OK, but superstar mode is dry as a hardened piece of ****. Also, franchise mode hasn't changed much. All they did was make 1 big *** new feature really, and I don't like this feature at all (vision cone).

I like it a lot. Although, no offense guys, I didn't buy it for SS or Online mode. I love the franchise as much as last year's even though there's not a whole lot of improvement. The MGDs are better and so is the gameplay, IMO, but that's just me.

Well, I lost my 2nd exhibition game to the Lions (playing with the Browns) - I tossed 9 interceptions! (12 min acc clock) and lost 17-0. In the game, Dilfer got injured and is out for 4 weeks. I can't remember that ever happening in '05 - so that alone is worth the purchase for me. It seems to be much more realistic.

Could it be better? I'm sure it could. I just haven't hit the things I'd improve on yet.

I agree with hitman: I didn't buy the game for the superstar mode either. As long as there's a franchise mode, I'll probably keep buying it every year. But I gotta say, after reading reviews & comments in this forum & others for almost a week now, I was a little surprised when I finally bought & played the game last night (based on a couple hours of play). Let me explain:

1) Being a Madden vet, I kinda took all the complaints & whining about the new vision cone with a grain of salt. I figured most of the crying was coming from rookies & "2k" fanboys, and that I'd be somewhat satisfied when I finally got a run at it. I was wrong...it's not that great, IMO. It just doesn't seem very polished. Don't get me wrong, the concept is cool but it could've been implemented better (as someone stated on another post). With that said, I'll still be using it throughout my upcoming franchises because it's not a terrible feature.

2) The truck stick: exact opposite of what I just said. ;) I was actually buying into the negative hype about it just being a "offensive hit stick" (which it kinda is). But I absolutely love this feature. I think a lot of people are using it wrong; it ain't made for the open field. In my mind, it was meant to help us gain that extra 2 or 3 yards at the end of the run...and for that, it works wonderfully.

This is all based on my short time in practice mode late last night. But considering I only paid $39 for this year's game, I can already say I'm satisfied.

Overall it's a good game. So was last year. Now there isn't much difference between the two and that's where Madden loses points. The graphics have been the same since eddie george was on the cover. Also the changes are minimal everything introduced this year could have been there last year. I guess their philosophy is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Either way last year's espn 2k5 is better than 06 madden in a lot of ways. In fact I think what keeps Madden on top is the deepness of the game play which is still the best.

I rented it from blockbuster and im not very Impressed. I knew somthing was Up when i saw Bert and Kobra telling people that they need to practice more before they say if they like it or not. I see all these Threads saying "give it some time". Games are not supposed to take time to be fun. Good or not i should pick up a controlller and have fun playing Regardless if Im good or not. We will see but last years version made me lose interest very Quickly, this being not much different may keep me occupied for a month or two.

no doubt..madden use to be the game id buy regardless of trying it out..knowing it would be off the hook and id be addicted after 5 minutes...think i'll just return 06 and go buy 2K5 ...seein i aint played it yet cuz im a madden faithful..least that way i can see i got a new football game this year.

I played it at best buy on a plasma screen. I dont know how u console guys play this game.....it looks like balls on a console. At least the PC, the graphics get better each year. The play seems so arcade like on the console too.

At least you guys have it tho, I am still waiting.

The jury's still out for me, but I voted for "don't care for it". It seems very buggy to me. From the QB Freeze (with the Vision Cone on), to the Punt Return Mid play being incorrectly written, to the distinctly unrandom "Random Play" feature in Practice mode (which has existed for the last 4 Maddens), to the lack of many penalties, it just seems shoddy to me. Like when you hit the button to see the pass routes from the play you've just called, the quarterback's name obscures the button name over the halfback's head. You can figure out which button he is, but why should you have to? Likewise, if you call a draw play, the giant "R1" or "L1" over the halfbacks head obscures the line so you can't read how the blocking's going. Or how they put in lots more defensive playmaker options, but made the "cycle through defensive player" thing move more slowly (apparently because of "improved" graphics). Just lots of "Why did they do that?" moments for me over the past week.

I love the Game its be coming more sim with all the new options , I just have to get used to the switch of the X button to cyle thru player ect. But the new cone and Off.slide and extra audible at line (offense)without movement is also Nice :D

Its about how much I'd pay for 06. Based on my weekend rental of the game.

EA did little to improve gameplay. Truck stick is no better than the lower your head and run ahead button from last year.

I must admit the cone thing is interesting. It is a step in the right direction to even out the passing and running game. However, being able to disable the feature shouldn't have been an option. Make all the diehards and newbies learn the new tricks at the same time. 1 brownie point for EA

Franchise...did they do ANYTHING to make this better. No. Ok they evened out the MGD draft players. 1 brownie point for EA.

Superstar...sucks. I'd rather play Super Tecmo Bowl on the old NES, Its way more entertaining than Superstar. -2 brownie points for EA

Total Points = 0

I won't be buying. I hope next years is better.
