anyone running one of the West coast offense books?

last year i gave up on the WCO with Nanos about, i think Equalizer and TNT still ran a straight no shotty west coast offense and did well.

well ive been through everybook and still havent found "the one yet" last year i jumped all around and when i finally found one the season was about over. Well this year im going to stick to one and try to do the best I can with it and not bandwagon like last year....

anyone have a suggestion for what they think is the best WCO?

My opinion right now is Tampa Bay but im open to suggestions

I wouldn't say I did "great" with my WCO last year. I was less than 35% on 3rd downs, and had less than a 50% completion percentage... Partially because the DB's bumped everyone (even men in motion) and they all had makeup speed like Deion in his prime...

I'm still in that SEA PB...

It's better this year because once a DB is beat, he's BEAT. Adding that to the fact that motion frees receivers from being bumped again (like it should) and the WCO should produce my usual numbers...

50+% on 3rd Down
50+% completions

The Vision and Precision passing should help once I fully get the hang of it.

There are some great plays/formations in there... Heck even last year, you could get a pass away with ease against the NASTIEST nanos. Who needs shotgun... :D

Seattle's playbook has actual WCO concepts like Texas, Z Hook, Flanker Drive, etc. Also it has some nice splitback formations with the backs in a three point stance.

I am using WCO this year, I am adjusting to the passing it's ok, I like ball control
and high % passing that's the key.. It keeps the defense guessing that's the good part about the WCO

Any other good WCO books

Yes indeed! I'm leaning towards the Seattle PB as well. Detroits is nice too but it lacks enough slants for my taste. Like Mad_Bomber said, Seattle's uses the most WCO concepts so I'd go with it

My biggest dilemma is now my franchise team. I like the Rams (my fav team) but I don't see their personel working with the sceme too well (lack of WR size plus the lack of a pass catching TE the biggest issues). Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards Detroit but Seattle and Baltimore are interesting options as well.

As for vision cone/precision passing, I do it this way: M2M I lock on the best matchup and in zone I'll look-off my primary and then switch to him when he's open (right analog, not the R trigger method). It's been working for me so far...

Im still deciding between the WCO and Seattle as my 2nd playbook. I have been using the WCO Madden 02, but it became my 2nd book when all of the shotgun compression sets started making their way into the game. They are good books if you are an "under the center" type of guy.

I've been using Minn's playbook but it sounds like Seattle's is pretty good, I'll try them in my next game.

I'm liking that Seattle book also. I've only used it for less than a half (12 min w/acc. clock) but I like it so far.

ha, I feel the same way. :D I ran hardly any shotgun what so ever last year and the same this year so far. It feels much more comfortable being undercenter IMO and there's always the threat of running the ball and playaction. Running compression sets from Singleback seem more exciting this year BTW, I'm liking Singleback-TripsBunch/BunchTE/TightSlots/TripsTE/4WR Stack. I love them pulling guard running plays, they work good. ;) Spread the defense out so they respect your passing formations, then run it! If they stack the box vs. the run, pass it!, as they should be out of position to defend certain routes and recievers.

By the sounds of this thread Seattle's PB seems nice, I need to check it out again. I liked it last year a lot, hopefully its better.

its pretty much official ive switched over to seattle also, mainly because of the sick singleback i wish it had trips TE like tampabay though i love that formation I can recreatw by take tight doubles and motioning the reciever though... so it is great.

Anyone using the far and near sets??? If i can get some money plays out of this book i may use it at the MC...

Anyone notice that you can actually run consistently out of the singleback sets this year it finally opens me up to play with them.... and be balanced with them I use to mainly run with 2 back sets but the o line now allows you to pick up yarrdage up the gut with SB...

Im excited about the formation audible possibilities....

Slot strong can be formation shifted to tight doubles and trips..... so that adds so many slants into different formations...

I use both the Near and Far formations out of Seattle's playbook. I also use Singleback Tight Doubles quite a bit.

i dont run a west coast play book really but i dont run a west coast philosiphy.... i think it is very good for people who have trouble moving the cone as you can minmize the amount of reads you make and staring down your wr isnt an issue since the majority of your throws are quick throws on 2 and 3 step drops beofr ethe defense canr eact.

hsa been working very well for me so far, havent changed much form what i did last year

Ok so I just used the Seattle playbook for the first time. Couldn't get into a rythym. I was really unfamiliar with the routes and the formations just didn't do it for me. Luckily I played great defense and outsmarted my opponent on offense. Utilized the play action after running 5 straight times and ended up connecting with Chad Johnson for a 50 yard TD. Later in the game, down 13-7 with 30 seconds left in the game, I find the TE in the back of the endzone for a 20 yard TD. Close one. I think I'll go back to the Minny playbook for the time being.

I had some decent success with the "Near-Tight Twins" & "Far-Tight Twins" formations out of the Detriot Lions PB (Steve Mariucci). Some nice passing plays.

After running a spread, high passing offense for as long as I can remember, I have switched and begun learning the WCO in Madden. I am currently running with my Broncos and like all of the bootlegs and play-action in the playbook. The formations are taking a while to get a feel for in my case, as I used to run with no less than 3 WRs on a given play. Running the ball is noticably easier for me; however, my passing leaves much to be desired.
