What is so great about 46?

Honestly, 46 defense blows. The only play that can actually stop both the run and the pass that i've had success with is Man QB Spy. Not only can you get faster guys on the field in..lets say Dime flat, but you also have better chance of containment because you have more speed on the field.

If you cant stop the rush, 3-4 Safety blitz is much more effective than any 46 defense.

The 46 defense is more about having the right kind of players than it is your skkill level or mine .... you need quick, tough linebackers ... two cover corners with great speed and a real smart tough FS .... not many teams are able to run this full time .... so, it's a nice change of pace, but not many teams if any this season can run it full time with much success.

I agree Groupie. I played against a guy who used the 46 D with the Eagles. That dude kicked my butt for 3 quarters. I won 17-10 only because I picked him twice for scores along with a field goal.

i do really well with the 46. i stop the run and the pass very well with it. i play with the raiders and like groupie said, the personnel is everything.

charles woodson and phillip buchanon at the corners, 3 quick backers (lowest speed is 81, romo) and rod woodson at safety.

whatever you do, stay away from the 46 bear. it blows hard.

in the balanced playbook and i'm sure in the 46 playbook too, there's a play called "rush outside". i always have the side where the end hooks out to the wide side of the feild. if you look at it, you'll see what i mean.

tighten your line and go coverage audible. this should stop runs bounced to the outside. if you have good run stuffing tackles, you should be in business.

I use cover 2 defense, where Bear is the only option.

theres a cover 2 thats disguised well in the 46 normal along with an under man that works really well, keep the outside backer that drops to the wide side of the feild.
