Question about Defense formation?

Hi All,

I never played football but love this game. I am having a problem with defensive formations and such. What formation in general is a good run defense? Which formation is a good pass defense?

Conceptually speaking, the more defensive tackles, defensive ends, and linebackers you have on the field, the better your chances are stopping the run. IE 4-3, 3-4, 4-6, 4-6 Bear.

Conceptually speaking, the more corner backs and safeties you have on the field, the better your chances are stopping the pass. IE. Nickle, Dime, or Quarters.

Now many many more nuances go into picking the right one but that should get you started...
