Restricted Free Agents

First a stupid question - Are these players who are still at their clubs but their contracts end that season? If so how do I try and sign them in madden?

I ask because there are lots of good players coming to the end of their contracts which I'd like to sign.

I don't think there is a restricted free agent in Madden, would be cool to be able to sign one and give up a draft pick to get some one real good. As of right now you have to wait for the end of the season, and hope their team doesn't want to pay them.
