hot route help please

I just bought the game and for the life of me I can't use hot routes.

Before the snap i hit triangle and I'm in hot route mode, but whenever I pick a reciever it does nothing. There's no way I can modify their route.

Is there some option I need to change or something?

After hitting "triangle" and selecting your reciever, you have to hit a direction (up for a streak, left/right for an in/out, or down for a curl) or you can hit the right analog stick for a playmaker hotroute. Are you pressing a direction after selecting your reciever? If you are and nothing happens, then you have a defect in your game.

After I hit triangle I can't select a reciever. I press all their buttons and nothing happens at all.

The game runs fine except for that, really think it's a defect?

Is this on PC or Console. You won't see anyting happen. After you press triange it will say "HOT ROUTE" then press the button corresponding to the receiver (you won't see anything happen here) then press the directional pad or whatever to change the route. After doing this press R2 to see the routes. The hot routed receiver's route will be different.

nice I thought it would change the route visibly without hitting R2 like it did in the tutorial. Guess that's what threw me off. Thanks

don't forget to check your manual for whatever system you are playing on to find out how to hot route a slant in or out. I find this one of my most used hot routes
