Display on PS2

Know this probably isn't the place for this question, but did not see any other relevant forums.

Anyway:

Have Madden 2004 on a PS2 with a wide-screen TV. Seeing the sidelines is near impossible, or seemingly. If I run out patterns etc., I virtually guess at when to throw the ball. What video mode is best to see the field on my type of setup?

I tried wide-screen, but thought the graphics looked like crap.

Did you set the ps2 to 16:9? I use this and madden cam and it looks great. You can see the sidelines pretty good.

I read a post and someone said that in widescreen the graphics are amazing. Im getting my widescreen tv at the end of the month I cant wait to see this.
