I played around with this mode the other day and found I agree with all reviewers. It is LAME.

Nothing you do has any impact in-game. It's all gloss, no depth. It really doesn't matter what kind of attitude you have. The conversations and auditions are repetitve. Crap, they could have spent all that code and time making the franchise mode better (how 'bout some decent logos and uniform choices? Maybe some more unique options on stadium design? UGH!).

What a waste of time.

If someone wants to be TO or Moss or Ricky Williams let them play it in some other video game. EA screwed up big time. Waste of money and time.

It will have very little replay value even for those that enjoyed it.

Anyways, I agree enough said.

I haven't even bothered and I doubt I will after reading the opinions.

I agree! What a stupid mode. It goes nowhere. I can't believe that they actually put in time developing this mode. Who at EA thought this was a great addition to the game.
I wish they spent some more time on game play- especially punt return. Your players don't even block, in fact they face the returned and watch him get drilled.

Yes! Most definitely. There's no substance to Superstar mode. NONE AT ALL. It just doesn't lead to anything. It looks almost exactly like Race for the Heisman in NCAA, which was equally as retarded.

It's like franchise mode except without the franchise part...whooee! I can be in a movie!

I'd rather EA spent time making the cornerback shading work. Shading doesn't work at all and is completely useless...

I can't stand that. They stand 4 feet away from you and just watch you get drilled and fumble the ball. It's pretty pointless to even try to return it. You're better off attempting a block.

I tried SS Mode before even diving into my usual Franchise. It does lack a lot of features which could have made it a great compliment to an already good game. There is too much redundancy in the overall play of SS mode that I have lost interest in only 3 days.

However, did we run out and buy Madden '06 on the first day because of SS mode? NO!! We bought it, well at least I did, because I LOVE MADDEN FOOTBALL. It is the one game I live for each year. EA tried something new and failed miserably. It would not be the first time that EA has failed in our eyes. That does not take away the fact that I will still play Madden religiously for months upon end. The feature that they most advertised was QB Vision, and that itself is one hell of a feature; especially when you have a rookie/2nd year QB with limited vision. On that note, has anyone simmed years yet to see if a QB's vision expands over the course of his career, assuming of course that his attributes increase?

I agree after playin awhile superstar mode does get repetitive, however, I feel wif improvment this feature could have been a lot better. I hope they keep this feature in the next version jus make it more unique.

I have gone through three years with Alex Smith and his vision has definitely expanded. I make an extra effort to add points to his awareness in training camp mode to help it out.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks it's kinda fun.

I'm having a blast with it. After years of blowing up a team and rebuilding from scratch, I finally have something else to do. I usually have a Lions franchise, and there's no fun winning with this team, because all I need is a fullback in a year or two, and a new kicker. Then the team is set.

This way, I get put on some random team, play with them for a few seasons, and then jump ship when I get bored.

I can see how some might not like it, but I think it's a great idea. If they keep it in future versions, I can see it becoming something great.

EA can improve this facet of the game by making you "work" for your starting position. It's too easy to adjust the depth chart and insert you into the starting role. Next year, they should make it so you can't pop yourself into the starting lineup and make you work for it in training camp, or due to injury etc.

I refrained from doing this and just let the cards play itself out (no pun intended...I got drafted by the Cards) :D

In my 3rd year I was awarded a starting spot opposite Fitzgerald. I have been progressing much better than any of the other WR's.

Just food for thought.

Geez, ya know this mode wouldn't even be SO bad, but the practice, come on! Thats waht completly ruined it for me. I like the idea behind it, and it would be better if you weren't calling all the plays and had less control over the depth chart, but the practice!

What is fun or challenging about hitting X O X O X O X O X O X O X O X O X O, over and over and over and over just to get to the game. Even if you werent able to select what plays youre going to run that'd be a little better. But it is the most redundant, agraivating, boring, time consuming, piece to a game ever. And if ya sim it youre stats are gonna end up being nothing by the time ya get to week 5.

I cant believe I haven't seen more people complaining about this as the absolute mode killer. I guess its a good jumping off point for next year cause its kinda a cool idea, but I cant bring myself to even bother anymore after wasting probably a good 5 hours of my life pressing X O X O X O X O over the course of one season.

the superstar mode is boring and a waste of space they took out all of the pregame talk that they showing players. it gets old have two a day practice just about everyday.

I haven't fully tried it out yet, am about in week 4 of my season. I too was drafted by the Cardinals. The practices are repetitive and dumb. The gameplay ones, I haven't figured out if they are random, or if they actually give you plays against a defense your opponent will run the next week. The cell phone messages are bugged out. I get an email every week from my webmaster telling me he's added something to my page, but it's the same thing every time. "I've added a 'home' page to your website". Yeah, you told me that 3 weeks ago and every week since. Also, I'm a rookie who's never played a game in the NFL. Do I really need an agent?

I'll play it some more this weekend to see what I can do with it before I totally blow it off though.

Granted there are quite a few bugs with Super Star mode, and definately needs alot of improvement. I think it's a very interesting and fun feature. I hope EA sticks with it, but they must improve it. As well as other gameplay things, such as punt returns.

First of all you shouldn't be able to modify the Depth Chart in SS mode, you should have to earn you starting role on a team via practice and training camp. And speaking of practice, there shouldn't be so many of them each week, and same with training camp and gameplan. One, maybe two a week would be suffice. No need to beat a dead horse, I mean really. Also I think training camp should be done more like it is in franchise mode and perf. institute. SS mode training camp should be position specific mini-games. However, instead of getting X amt of pts and being able to increase attributes by X amt. The mini-games in SS mode should be made strictly for SS mode, and you are graded by your performance, similiar to in practice. If you consistently do well, your attributes will go up accordingly. Each position could have like 2 or 3 mini games specific to their position. Like for a QB, have a WR lined up against a DB, with no other players but you on the field and the WR runs random routes and you gotta complete passes to him with X amt of tries. This could increase you THA as well as AWR. I'm not going to explain each and everyone of the mini-games i think there should be, but ya get the idea.

Plus I think when you hire and agent and get drafted, you should actually have to negotiate a contract with your team. And you can either accept or deny it, your agent could suggest what you should do, however you still have the freewill to choose. If you don't sign, maybe other teams will make offers to you, not only in your rookie year but also when you contract runs out. Different teams float offers at you, and you can view each and either go for the most money or for a team you really want to play for.

Also there should be a few more of the franchise features available in SS mode. Such as league news, recent trades, newspaper, etc... Come on EA, you guys pulled a Microsoft on us and bought sole rights to the NFL putting a monopoly on the market. Just because you don't have any competition doesn't mean you can get lazy! Personally I think getting sole rights was DUMB! Everyone knows that competition only makes things better. Now that you have no competition, I mean why would you want to work hard and make a good game when you don't have too! I beg of you PLEASE live up you end of the bargain, you want sole rights.... give us the BEST DAMNED football game then!
