Well,

I've been goofing around with Franchise mode since I got '06, and I've determined that despite the Lions having weapons like R Williams, Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, and Marcus Pollard....the way to get SIM wins is to run the ball using Kevin Jones.

I've simmed 3 seasons using the default coach strategy..and the Lions have gone no better than 7-9, which this year will get Mooch fired and Joey H released at the end of his contract.

By adjusting the Offensive strategy to 53-47 Run..and going more conservative...the Lions are winning.

Thru week 8 Lions are 5-2 tied for first in the NFC.

Anyone else doing this kinda thing just to see what happens?

After week nine when the Lions are: 6-2 Tied for 1st in the NFC

Mike Williams goes out for the season with a broken elbow.

For the year: 9 catches 91 yds 2 TD.

I think a smart strat in RL for the lions, would be to run alot, but in 3-1-1 or 3 -0-2. That gives jones more room to work, and the threat of all 3 top WR's scares the backfield a bit.

1st down 3-0-2 run
2nd down 3-1-1 pass
3rd down 3-1-1 run
4th down punt (LOL)

So as a Lions 'chise guy would you take this trade:

Philly's 1st round pick and Simoneau or Douglas (or both) for Charles Rogers?

I am contemplating it in my 'chise but not sure it's realistic (the CPU will let me, but that's easy). I figure the Lions aren't going to re-up ALL 3 of those receivers and since Rogers is the least reliable and has the biggest contract they might part with him.

In RL if the Lions would do that I'd have to drive down to Allen Park and call 911 cause I would kill Millen if he did that.

That being said....in 'chise mode...I prolly would since the Lions dont have a good LE, and there's no way they will be able to re-sign both Williams' when the contracts come up as well as C Rog.

Into the Playoffs we go.

Lions finish the regular season at 11-5 and have home field.

Injuries take the toll down the stretch...but we hang on.

Schlesinger gets voted into his 1st Pro Bowl, joined by DL Hall, and Big Daddy Wilkinson, and punter Harris.

Mooch finishes 3rd in coach of the year voting.

And who would have thunk it.....

Lions LOSE to the Eagles in the divisional round game 16-9, in a battle of FG's.

TO catches the only touchdown of the game on a 5yd pass from former Lion Mike McMahon. The Lions aren't able to offset the Eagles superior DB's as the leading reciever is TE Casey FitzSimmons. Lions backs and TE's catch 8 of Harrington's 13 completions.

Eagles ball control their way to the win, ending a promising, but yet typical Lions-like season.

Who say's there's a Madden curse......Falcon's win the Superbowl over the Chiefs 24-7.

Oh wait...Mike Vick isn't the cover boy this year...nor did he win the game. Subbing for Mike Vick, who sits the big game out with a strained shoulder and leading the Falcons to the victory is Matt Schaub.

Maybe those years running UVA's pro style offense helped the kid after all.

What would you guys do......

I'm simming my Lions 'Chise..and Roy Will and Mike Will both cought 50+ balls for over 500 yds each, leaving C-Rog kinda lagging behind in the stats.

He stayed healthy playing in all 16 games, but he's behind both Williams' in development and ratings.

Its a week before the draft and the Patriots will take his off my hands for 2nd, 4th and 6th rd draft picks.....

Does anyone else do this trade? His $$ costs me $6 M in cap penalties, but frees me of $40 Mill in salary over the next 3 seasons.

I would trade C-Rog and just get the picks. If he is going to give you a 6 mil cap penalty, just clear the cap penalty after the trade,
