I'm over in the UK and can't get my hands on the game for another 3 weeks....

My question is how useful do you guys find the draft? I saw a post here where someone tradede TO for a 1st and 3rd round pick and in all the versions of Madden I've played (since 98) I can think of only 2 times where I got a genuine marquee player straight from the draft.

Everyone else needed years and years of development just to get into the high 90s!

Just wondered what your experiences are.

Peace
Andy

The draft is good this year. Most of the high 1st rounders will be 79-83 and you can still get good players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds sometimes in the low 80s.

the lure of trading aged superstar (TO Brett Favre etc.) for draft picks comes from the surprise you get when picking draft picks and satisfaction when you pick a superstar in the making.

Every year you're thinking will this be the next peyton manning? clinton portis? There's also more superficial benefits to picking a younging up and coming player instead of a fading superstar. in Madden TO will only keep his speed and physical attributes for 2-3 years max and he'll start degrading while if you pick a 22 year old stud he'll remain a stud for the next 7-8 years, barring career ending injuries of course.

I for one just think its fun to try and pick the best player in the draft

I exported my NCAA class and I was still drafting 77 OVRs in the fifth round...

The outrageous player progression in NCAA screws things up. It had Reggie McNeal from Texas A&M as the #1 QB prospect, even though his accuracy was only in the high 70s while Leinart's ACC was 87. I guess it's like they say, speed kills.

One quick note: The CPU still doesn't know how to manage a roster. The Packers drafted a QB. The Bucs signed a FA running back to start over Cadillac. Etc...
