There are some cool things about Madden '06. Like new player animations & formations. But I'm pretty bummed out about many things in the new game.
1. The same old $hi+. The Same Lame recycled Madden script read crap.
2. I cant believe it's even LESS authentic than last year. Uniform details that I (of course as an NFL geek) knew were going to change in the SPRING are not adressed by the lazy EA people who know people are going to shell out the $50 regardless. PLUS name me ONE NFL player wearing one of those 1 or two bar face masks! They might be cool as a retro thing if EA didnt do such a bad job rendering them.
3. NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE GRAPHICS. Despite all the hype it looks exactly the same as it has for the last 3 or 4 years.
4. No added retro uniforms? No added equipment options? (Dudes, throw in some goodies for my $50!
5. They have added some stuff like the superstar mode (which I havent checked out yet) but it seems to really tax the PS2. $hi+ takes even longer to load & save now.
Why cant I re-locate my team & keep the current uniforms?
Why is the uniform editor completly useless?
Why did I pay $50 for a roster update?

Why do people call EA lazy when they know the next gen system is coming out soon so most of their manpower is being devoted to next gen Madden? it boggles my mind

We'll maybe the game isn't worth $50. All I'm saying. It's more of an update, or expansion pack type of deal.

Madden 06 is definately not worth the $50.00 investment. - And whether the next generation platform is coming out soon or not should have absolutely no bearing on what EA chooses to produce for the CURRENT platform!
For crying out loud... for such a high powered developer that is just re-using the SAME platform as last year, and the year before... they could have done something better for us. -
Madden 2006 IS an expansion pack and it cost more that I paid for Madden 2005 come to think of it. Consists mainly of Bug fixes and a few new features, they also added a few new bugs, thrown in for free. - Uncalled for!
EA, you disappoint me! -
By January though, I will be like most others here: Can't wait for Madden 2007! - Just another one of my bad habits I suppose.

I love '06. It's far superior to '05 imo. From the passing system to essentially HAVING to mix up the play calling to the defensive ai, I'm loving it all.

I like 06 better, it IS an improved game and they did make SOME good improvements to Franchise, but your points about graphics, and the logos and uniforms is a good one. Major sticking points.
I think we'll be pretty happy with Madden 360 however.

Agreed....while we're at it......they also omitted the custom playbooks from the franchise mode. A lotta ppl. liked that feature (me included).

I'm really enjoying it now because before i only used to buy Madden for gamecube (i love that controller) but i missed out on the downloaded rosters and the online play so for me the online play seems new and i love the madden. I also like the passing cone and the improved draft picks on franchise. I didn't pay that much attention to the uniforms tho... i think the graphics are a LITTLE improved ( you cant see through the dark visors anymore ).
