Signing a free agent during the season

Guys seem to get hurt alot in this game. When I need to sign a free agent I can't seem to do it. I have to let the CPU do it for me. The same happened after the 1st season and I had to hire a ST coach. I don't know how to sign a free agent player during the season. Please help me with that. By the way, when I tried to sign a ST coach it ask me if I wanted to fire the head coach. That's why I had the CPU do it. I have the PC version if that matters.

check to see if somehow you may have adjusted a slider or picked an option that has the CPU handling all team management stuff. That would be the only thing I can think of

Do you have a section of your franchise called rosters? If so there should be a section of that called free agents. Go into that list and select the player you want. You should then be able to negotiate salary/bonus/years. Hope this helps.

There is not a section in the franchise for rosters. I've looked and will continue to look. Does anyone offering advise have the PC version? Maybe thats the reason. Still looking for help. Has anyone signed free agents during the season while playing on the Madden 06 version? If so, how did you do it?

wouldn't be the first time the game is different from PC to console, or console to console for that matter
