View Full Version : My opinion on the Superstar Feature

Is that Superstar mode blows. It is boring and no fun. So my all pro bowl Rookie LE isnt marketable because I don't talk to my agent? Thats all this is, to see how much money you can make. And, oh yeah, Look at the new house you get. Much easier to do all this by simming. And I did get traded to the dolphins by randomly demanding it. And resetting each time they didn't. Whoopie. Plus they had to trade Zach for me. Crappy.

1) Practices are stupid and there are far too many of them. Same with Focus. Even annoying just changing the stupid plays back and forth. And you are supposed to do this, what 30 or 40 times in the preseason alone? With at least 10 repitions a piece? I would rather watch paint dry.
2) Performance Institue is repetive and boring. How many times can I do the tackle drill? Against Ricky every time. With Jones in my backfield. Nice variety.
3)Terrel Davis sends me a message every day congratulating me on making the starting Roster. Which I have been since day 1. Nice realism. Unless he is now Autistic.
4)Movies are stupid. One puncuation mark missed and you get a lower score? I did, got 3 out of 4. How do you miss pronounce a comma as opposed to a hypen mark anyways?
5) The entire Mirror thing is stupid too. Its a no brainer how to make your guy look good, just the same basic equipment each time. Same when you first create him, just move the muscle sliders up until they start going down. And give him an Afro. Whoopie! Man max at the start of the game.
6) Without a human GM, the teams are stupid. As I said, I lost Zach and Seau retired. (Again. Same as in madden 2004, and 2005. 1 Season and he is gone. He is still here though in 2006. Think they might import some randomability into this game that Seau might play until he is 50??) My team drafted 3 crappy LOLB's. Leaving Derrick Pope on the Right. And another DT. Oh yeah, they also drafted another friggin RB!!. Only Ricky and Ronnie were still left on the roster. And 1 of those guys shouldn't be there either. Thats some smart management.

So basically my advice is this. If you want to play with your own Superstar , maybe create your guy or import him. Use the Superstar Creation menu. Grab a pen, and write them all down. Then exit out and go to create a player option and make your guy. Hell, you can even customize his face and body. So he doesn't look like Battista from the WWF. Then assign him to the Dolphins or FA and sign him when you play a Franchise. If you like starting rookies that are 85+ overall. And still drafted in the third round. ( My LE was a 97 to start with 88 spd, 88 agil, 85 acc and 90 tackling!) Don't worry about cap room, as they still signed my guy for 7.6 million a year. Highest paid DE in the game, right out of the blocks.

Oh yeah, I played my guy in every formation I could, special teams, kickoffs, and punt returns as well as every defensive formation. Makes for a lot of fun playing one stupid defender and just trying to get tackles and sacks with him. Screw the rest of the team as well. That was ok when I was with the Rams, but now its personal.

P.S Madden is still an idiot. Even in franchise, turn off those stupid comments. My favorite was my first pre season game. My second tackle and I got the "This guy has been in the league for awhile now, and this might be as good as he ever gets." Im friggin 21 years old in the preseason. In fact all the comments are the Same ones as last year, this game is just basically a Roster update with that QB vision and thats the only real difference from Madden 2005.

But the new Burnout 4 game is fun. On Xbox that is ;)

You are forgetting all the great improvements they made in online play. Oh wait, they screwed that up also. :D Good job EA, keep riding that Madden reputation.

what are the points for in practice - in superstar mode.
You go into practice. Get a 1000 points and then what? Go on? What is the meaning of it?

I agree with you here. I wrote down all my stats of my QB i made of myself in NCAA from Notre Dame and created him and signed him off free agency to my Dolphins (since they have NO friggin QB's) He is the replacement theyve needed since Marino retired (i gave him number 13 too :D ) It did cost alot though, had to make some moves to free up money etc (he makes almost what Manning and Vick makes  but his cone is almost the size of Mannings so its all good and he has a cannon of an arm) I think this makes it funner and i can enjoy it longer and with MY team on franchise.

Yup SS mode was an idea that I liked when I first heard about it. But after playing it it just wasn't what i thought it was going to be. I found it more fun to just do it the old way, create my guy and put him through franchise.

super star mode is a very boring mode. All u do is go through the calender and go to the performance institute. It should have a storyline to it like the life and times of freddy king. if it was like that it would be a hit. And here's a suggestion for EA, Hire the guy that wrote the life and times of freddy king to write the story line couse its good stuff, exactly what the fans want in a game.

My sons career... kicks ***. Great writing, great story, great suspense... the writer really knows when to quit ... and let us stew about it for a while. Now this is what Madden really needs... add something like this the SS, and I'd never put it down.... or, at least until next years model... LOL
