Madden plays like the nfl very realstic if youre defense is out of postion or in standard postion the game picks you will lose 8-10 times

What I mean is if you pick cover 2 or a pass zone and have the defense zones on the wrong side youre players which are controlled by the cpu will become dumb even if they are 2 feet away from the ball now if you have the defense on the right side they will go for the swat and even if the pass is completed be right there for the the tackle or power hit which knocks the ball loose

Move ya players around is key my favorite play because I run the 3-4 d is the 3-4 safe!! Because Right now I can set it up 7 ways and blitz from it it stops the run and 90 % of passes if set up right and no homerun balls Now most of you are going what!!! I will destroy that coverage yea the base set 1 but if i bring my safties up to the line move my linebackes around you no longer know which coverage im in till the snap and then you still have to wait for a second or two depending on how quick you know how to read zones or blitz and that is 3 seconds my friend if the ball is not gone that = sack!!!!!!!! I could blitz bring a saftey run a stunt anything and also because they are so close if those quick passes will get knocked down int or have a very short yard gain

When you bring your safties up to the line and also move ya linebackers you increase ya sack rate because the o-line is now worried about the blitz pressure along with the regular dline and if you have good stick control with stunts you will watch as they guess wrong and leave huge gaps for blitzes or basic pass rush from the d-line to get bye

Cover 4 is fun to run also bring the safties up drop back a step and then rush with a linbacker because the saftey is up on the line the linebacker spot will not be open because the saftey or nick and dim back is droping back and reads the qb eyes while droping and will react to the pass

If you are going to blitz control the blitz and once you get near the qb if you dont have good stick control click off the player and the cpu will continue on the best path to the qb main part is getting past the oline which the cpu does a piss poor job if you let it do the blitzing - 3 seconds is all the qb should have anything over 4 and youre blitz is pretty much worthless against any good passing player

I have pretty much ran every defense play now on all madden standard and then redesigned with players repostioned I found 8-10 times standard got beat and repostioned got sacks no gains etc a flat pass covered by cover 4 good stuff

Practice quickly switching players in training because like I found out players online will get mad you stop there money plays have huge blitz pressure and just dominate!!! They will try and hike the ball while you are setting up and if you are to slow which usally is very bad if you are repostioning a saftey because the cpu will get confused if you click off the saftey or you will have to control the saftey when you really wanted to control a linebacker!!! so pratice quick setups of all the enchanced defenses you want to run so you can set them up in less then 3 seconds

Only time I ever have trouble now is when the damm stat screen comes up and blocks who im controling at the time

I recomend reading these 2 books to understand what I have found out

I hope yall enjoyed this post it was for any madden player who is tired of being beat by a play even when you know which play is coming or always for some reason being out of postioned even when calling a good pass defense .

I did buy the 2004 vg sports guide which was great against average players and 2 play wonders and plays which are designed specfic without hotroutes and has great info on how to ready matchups and which attributes really make each postion but anyone who knew how to hotroute and knew all the zones which madden has could just pick a pass which went into a zone or part of the field that they knew the predesigned madden defenses didint cover not when you repostion by the time they realize what the zone or defense is its either to late because the reciver missed his window the defense is in good postion to cover the pass or the greatest thing of all sacks!!!

sorry this post was so long

Does anyone else blitz from a play not intended to be a blitz? I'd worry about the other players AI reactions. If I pick Cover 4 then I take one of those DBs playing a deep zone and blitz them, then there's a quarter of the field that isn't covered.

Play 3-4 Safe and take a linebacker and blitz them then there's a section of the field underneath that has NO coverage.

You see what I wrote about that right

When blitzing out the 3-4 safe you gotta repostion

1 saftey droping him close to the line of scrim age underneith the blitzing linebacker so when the lb blitzes the saftey backing up takes covers the spot of the now gone linebacker if the qb throws a quick pass you can pretty much say int

also requires

shifting of the lines and 1 defense end

another great non blitz to blitz off of is cover 2 man with bump and run

Like I said read those 2 books its all about alignments of covering up the quick spot from where the blitz is coming from

If madden let you pre snap the direction of each d-lineman would go it would make this game 100 realstic

It sound like some good stuff. Does it teach you how to get pressure in all of the sets. How about the offense.

OK sounds like you have done your research.
One question if you are playing 3-4 safe and manualy blitzing that means you are rushing 4. I don't see how you are getting quick pressure with this????

Groundpounder, as with a lot of enhanced blitzes in the past, and true to real life in the NFL you don't always have to actualy Blitz as many as you are showing ...

Example, if you bring your LB or safety up to the line they have to be accounted for by the O'line. Lets say you put the Safety outside your DE on or just off the line, then the OL player may step out to block him - even though he backs into coverage, this could give time for another blitzer to get in.

Overloading the line will always get pressure, just a question of how fast :D

Thanks Equalizer sorry work been kicking my *** for the last couple days and couldint respond thanks for takeing over the question :D

Groundpounder Its just like Equalizer said if you are not going to blitz you have to make the cpu qb or human opponet & offense line think you will blitz on passing downs otherwise the offense line will have a great blocking idea of only the d-line and work 100 % against them giving the a good read qb plenty of time !! plus the qb will have no panic that a blitz is coming and make error throws

Best way to see if this works is play the colts and start stemming and moving linebackers back and fourth manually watch how many times paton manning changes the playcall if the cpu on all madden or even all pro takes along time to call hike it means they are confused on whos coming and what the actual defense coverage could be if they call hike fast it usally means they are confident and the play will usually be a success

I also just found a another book folks of specficf to the defenseline. Once the book comes to my house I will let you know how it is

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but do you think if EA couldn't figure out how to import rosters from NCAA or that they couldn't figure out how to resort depth charts correctly that they actually took the time to program that much AI into the offensive line?

If you move your linebackers around making it look like they may blitz from 3 or 4 different gaps, I GUARANTEE you there is nothing going on in the AI on the offensive side of the ball. There's no LG going "Oh sh*t, they're going to stunt and double team our C." No way. EA is no where near to the point of making it that real.

The books you've mentioned are quite good. What really gets me off though is NFL Edge Matchup. I just wish they wouldn't waste 10 minutes a show with that stupid Madden crap. Give me more breakdowns with those 10 minutes. But if the money EA paid for that is what kept that show on an extra season so be it.

do that and watch how many times the runningbacks stay into block or he keeps the tightend in

Hey I have seen it man I bring my saftey down and watch the offenseline jump towards his side when the ball is hiked only to leave a huge gap for a middlelinebacker or even my dt to swim him leaving a huge hole to rush righ threw

I avg 9-12 sacks on allmadden with the ravens and that doesint include the hurried throws or ints which usally is 5

Paragon, Good call!

I think a lot of the cheesing would stop if people took the time to understand how the defense and offense works. I actually have the Defensive Strategies book that you mentioned. I have the offensive strategies book as well as books on the West Coast offense. The Defensive strategies book is good. I particually like the 50 defense and I have managed to get several different looks to my defense by shifting the line left then shifting it back right. Or pinching the line then shifting it. The funny thing is that the d-line does not go back to their original spot when you try to shift back to the original postion and this creates the different look. For example by shifting left then right, your d-linemen will line up in what is known as the 50 defense. It is just a different version of the 4-3 defense (The d-linemen line up differently). But you have to be weary of the the d-line responsibilities when shifting. It is cool to shift as long as all the gaps are covered. As far as getting instant pressure, I have not been able to do this consistently unless I overload a side. And that is still risky with the new playmaker controls:D

i been in the lab trying to find new ways to get that fast and furious type pressure on the qb and i havent come up with alot. especially when the cpu qb passes within a second all the time! there has gotta be more ways to get pressure than always overloading one side. then everytime your opponenet sees everyone one side then he'll automatically know whats coming and from where. if you know of some enhanced blitzes then please let me know. i'm considering getting that book you mentioned on defensive strategies.

I just purchase that book yesterday, and I am having a hard time trying to figure out Pargon was able to apply pressure like he mentioned.
