do you guys mess with these at all? I crank all the ones that I actually have control over (off/def PI, roughing the passer/kicker, etc.) up to 99. The randomly generated ones (holding, clipping, false start, etc.) I drop down to about 30.
Is that considered "cheesing" the CPU? I just like to have the outcomes of my games based more on what I actually do right and wrong rather than randomly-generated flukey stuff. I'm assuming it also affects how often those penalties are called on the CPU as well.

I don't consider this cheese....seems like a good idea to make the game more "fair" although it does take some of the randomness out of the game you typically see in real football. As a coach you can't always count on your players to behave right? If you look at this as strictly a "skilled" game (as you may in online competition) as opposed to football simlation then you want as little randomness as possible. I'm going to try the sliders myself since I don't think I should lose because my heisman-candidate-impact HB randomly drops a ball after brushing a LB. For real football simulation you need some randomness so I guess it's all in how you look at it.
Since we're on the subject of cheese I have a regular archrival who I beat using strategy and good playcalling vs. his superior button/stick skills. He throws a lot of hail mary's whereas I only throw to open receivers on short slants/crossovers. Does it make me cheese by NOT adjusting sliders because at default it's easy for me to "big hit" him right before he catches a bomb as my defense HA HA!

Unless I was looking in the wrong place, I don't think there's a slider to control fumbling frequency/likelihood. I think you just have the option to turn fumbles off altogether. The HB Ability slider might affect it, but I'd rather not boost the rest of my HB attributes since the run game is already super easy.

You were right...my mistake! I adjusted the penalty sliders and I like it so far.

I keep everything 99 except reduce unsportsmanlike, def pass interference, clipping, and facemask to 70. This is normal except for the interference one, but I REALLY have difficulty stomaching the tic-tac interference calls that I get just by asserting my equal right to a thrown ball. This happens particularly often with linebackers. I'll break right to the ball and intercept it only to be flagged for interference because I apparently dislodged the receiver's maxipad. So I reduce that one even though I know most people don't.

I leave them at default, but I'd like to shut off false start all together. It pisses me off, even when it happens to the CPU. One thing that also REALLY makes me mad is when the CPU blatantly clips my guys after they break a long run and it NEVER calls the penalty. It happens almost every time a guy breaks loose for them.

Is that considered "cheesing" the CPU?
Every year, I ask the computer as I adjust my sliders if its too cheesy and the cpu has yet to complain.
Frankly even with all the advantages and tweaks in my favor, the cpu still cheats enough that I think its the biggest CHEESER/Glitch Freak of All Time
For instance, I've recovered an On-Side kick only to have the CPU put me on defense!  The cpu apparently doesn't like it when you start to run the score up on it.

I put the Unsportsmanlike Conduct slider all the way to zero and I am still getting call for penalities. Any suggestions?
I set all penalties to 50% except for P.I.
I like the way it turns out.

Well I like a reaslitic sim, but it does depend on your preference. I like the random hold call or false start. The problem I have is the CPU never getys enough penalities called on it even with them turned up. I have holding (90%), face mask (70%), clipping at (55%) Ditto VTH, NEVER gets called for block in the back, and everything else is at default. Not in front of my ps2 but I think I have false start all the way up b/c it never happens.

I leave everything at 99% except for Holding (70%) and Facemask (60%). Even then there is still a good amount of facemask penalties in the game. At 99% I swear there is one in almost every drive.
