View Full Version : Alaska Penguins Custom Franchise

I've decided to try out this years custom teams. This will be similar to my Packers franchise. Cup-cake team with 5 minute quarters, all-pro, default sliders. I will be simming a great deal of the games, at least for the first few seasons. I will be replacing the Dolphins. I hope to have the team moved to Alaska within the first few seasons.

So far this looks like a pretty terrible team. It's looking a LOT like last year, starting out with a stud RE who is a rookie (who will also likely see a whole lot of regression). I will not likely look to sign any FA's until my team gets better. I'm limiting myself to only the first level of training camp.

Team Needs:
solid backup QB
backup HB
FB
2-3 WRs
1 TE
LG, C, RT starters
LE starter
DTs
All 3 LB position starters
2-3 CBs
FS and SS starters
A kicker (22 OVR LOL)
Punter

Nobody Special

I returned after a long absence to review the ‘chise threads after getting my copy of Madden ’06 over the weekend. Didn’t expect to see someone starting up a ‘cupcake’ franchise already! I’m still trying to make that cone thingie point in the right direction. Of course when you’re trying to be the Bears, the cone is a teensie more challenging than, say, being the Colts. It’s going to be a while before I’m eating cupcakes. LOL.

From seeing your roster, it doesn’t look like the cupcake generation formula has been touched. That’s a bit of a disappointment. OTOH, I’m looking forward to seeing my first draft of what I take it are the new and improved MGD rookies. So are the Penguins I’ll bet!

Oh well, I’ll stop spamming your thread now. Carry on.

Nah, you weren't spamming my thread. Feedback is always welcome in my threads  I'm looking foreward to seeing if the MGDs are really as improved as I've heard they are. The only hard part of it will be deciding what position to draft for first

It's Xbox. I could never play a sports game on PC that seems like it would be too weird.

What's weird is that you obviously like the simulation part of this game, yet you prefer to do it on an xbox?

On the PC you wouldnt have to type all this info, since you could have it exported to text/html files.

Also the simulations elements are much better on the PC, and I have played madden on each platform, and on the PC it feels the most realistic, less arcade, nfl blitz-like.

Ironically though, you would not be able to start a cupcake team in alaska for a chise, since that feature is left out/broken(again in 06) in the pc version.
you would have had to pick a team, then move them after the first year, then wait one more year for it to take effect.

Actually I don't really sim all that much. Simming gets boring after awhile. Plus I like being able to play online and such with friends who have xbox as well.

when I said simulation, i did not mean it like that. I meant the simulation aspect of the game vs an arcae-like game play. Even when you are not simming games, it feels more realistic on the PC.

If you are playing other Xbox players, then it makes sense. Perhaps one day they can make it so all platforms can play each other online...
