Todd Jones was a quarterback all through 7th and 8th grade football. He would play and struggle early in games but would lead his team through the game. Always walking around like he was the best, he would throw like he was Dan Marino when he was young. When he broke his leg early in football he didnt think he could get back. But when he returned he would be tense and careful to protect the leg. One day in his high school football game he was drilled in that very leg and heard a crack. That would be the end of his football career. He stopped playing and went to every game, not on the field but in the stands. His favorite team, the Giants would face the Saints that year and he wanted to go to the game. One day, a wide receiver on that high school team named James Good walked up to Todd. He said he would make him a deal that if he would come and suit up for one game he would get tickets to the Giants Saints game. How could Todd refuse? James Good gave him a uniform and they eventually met in the locker room. Good told Jones that he would have to play atleast a half of the game. Jones got nervous but nodded as he suited up in his high school uniform for the first time since his freshman year. This time, his varsity football team went out on the field to warm up. Todd threw for a while before the game started.
They won the toss and as quickly as the game started, the game was closing. After getting extremely good protection, he was sacked once and threw 2 touchdown passes. As the game was coming to an end in the closing seconds, Todd ran a quick play and threw it deep to James Good who broke away from the cornerback. Touchdown! This was a great feeling, and he felt great that he would get tickets to the Giants versus Saints game on that Sunday.
After the game and recieving the tickets, he was driven to the game by his parents and went with James. During the game they had a special presentation where 3 lucky fans would get to meet the teams, owners, and staffs. At halftime they called out the seats. Todd looked at his ticket.... Section 270 Row 23 Seat 10. He won!!! They called James and his ticket and they walked down to the field section and were able to walk on the field and into the locker rooms. James went into the Giants locker room after the game and Todd was not allowed to so he had to enter the Saints locker room. After meeting the owner who had a job oppertunity for Todd. Todd was surprised. He gave the owner his phone number and went home after the game and waited over night.

Then during the beggining of the next summer he got a call from the owner....
Tom Benson: Hello, Todd. I have called to inform you about the job oppertunities for the New Orleans Saints. After not doing well over the past few years I have decided to end our relationship with our former general manager. This year I am asking you to become our general manager. Your friend James has told us good things about you. We were told that you were a former quarterback in high school? Is this true?
Todd: Yea, its all true. James told you things about me? How did he do that.
Tom: Well I figured that you would know that when he approached you he had been wearing a Saints t-shirt. He is a co-owner of the New Orleans Saints. When he started high school, he was taking business classes. I found him asking for a job and he showed me his resume and I was so surprised that he was talented at a young age that I had to hire him.
Todd: Wow... This is all happening a little fast. When he wanted me to play that one game I thought he was just trying to get my hopes up, but it turns out he really was working for the saints and just seeing how good I could be...
Tom: Yea, I kinda have a job for you though. If you would like to be the general manager of the Saints then you will have to do one thing. After he said good things about you he also said that you were in advanced classes and that you were be able to get your degree early. I can arrange so that you fly down here to New Orleans . Your flight will be at 3 o'clock.
Todd looked at his cell phone and it read 1:45. He was surprised at the time and began to talk again.
Todd: Okay, I will be ready. How should I arrive at the airport? Also, when I get to the airport what will happen?
Tom: Dont be worried. I have arranged so that you will get a team limo ride to the airport where you will be found by one of our staff members and then brought on the team jet. You will be relaxed and alone with the staff member to talk about the team and what you want to do with it. Now, start packing, I know you have a lot of things to pack.
Todd: Yea. Okay I will see you later on today or tomorrow.
Tom: Goodbye.
Todd hangs up the phone and gets up. He gets a luggage out of his closet and starts to throw in his things. Todd looks at one of the Giant hats he owns and tosses it to the side. When he is finished packing he walks out at 2:15 and sees a limo outside and gets in. He relaxes down on one of the chairs and falls asleep as the driver drives them to the airport. Todd is woken up and is met by Turk Schonert, the Saints quarterbacks coach. They walk up the stairs onto the team jet and sit down in the front row and stare at the 56 inch television in front of them that tells the team news.

Reporter on TV: This is Sam Stevens, reporting for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have struggled as of late, but new GM Todd Jones, a former quarterback, looks to figure out all of their problems. We are here at training camp where Coach Jim Haslett has informed us that he is allowing an interview. Coach, I have a few questions for you about the new GM and what you think he should do. First, what will happen on defense? You were terrible last year and I think that has to be a place where changes are made/
Jim Haslett: Well, our defense has been terrible the past couple of years. Maybe this Todd Jones can bring us in a new LB such as Peter Bowlware. There are other great talents out there and if he is a good GM then he will be able to find those talents.
Sam Stevens: Also a second runningback is needed, but not so much. I have heard that you have an eye on a few under rated runningbacks?
Jim Haslett: I always have to have my eye on under rated people. Right now I just think that when Todd gets here we will sit down and talk about what this team needs. Right now, we need linebackers. Next year we could need another QB... You just never know. Ron Dayne has looked really good in the Broncos training camp and he may turn out to be the most underrated players that we pick up.
Sam Stevens: The position battle for tight end is tight. Who do you think will win it in the pre-season.
Jim Haslett: Right now, Boo Williams is second on the depth chart. I believe that if he continues to be a great all around tight end for us then he will get this job. As of now, I am not sure of who will win the position though.
Sam Stevens: Thanks for watching, I am Sam Stevens for Saints Television Network.

Todd Jones turns off the TV and looks at a newspaper, it has something about the team needs and team salary issues, but mostly things that were covered on TV. He throws the paper away and relaxes as he sleeps until the flight lands in New Orleans....
