I have always thought that they should have a CLUTCH attribute...maybe when it gets down to a 4th qtr drive to when the game or a key 3rd down, or a key stop players stats would be bumped a bit depending on their clutch. Brett Favre would have a high clutch and a rookie would be very low. It should be on offense and defense and they really wouldnt just equal each other out because every player varies depending on experience, and maybe career stats if possible. Also maybe a clutch penelty because a rookie might panic and get nervous if he has to lead the team downfield in a 2:00 drill. Another might be POISE a different QB's react differently when a full blitz comes at them.....well maybe not because that should depend on the user. Maybe ATTITUDE or something like that so if u get someone like T.O. the morale will suffer because of off the field situations.
Also maybe out of game player animations....like during the draft showing them holding up their team jersey or something.......players talking to the media before/after the game......transaction clips if big name transactions are made
I dont know just making some suggestions

I think the game needs alot more attributes to distinguish players. Like currently all CBs play the same. A host of new attributes would change that. For instance for DB's:
All defenders should have the following mental and position attributes:
Key and Diagnostic Skills: Determine how well the defender reads plays and the type of play it is: Run/Pass, Play Action, in other words, awareness. So say a Sam and Mike linebacker that has a 90 + here, when they sees Iso, they dont just sit there and let the linemen suck them in. The Sam Crashes with the FB in the hole and Mike Flows over the top and gets in position to make the play on the HB. Second, these same two players are rarely fooled on PA ect. This would begin to distinguish players in the game instead of everyone being the same.
Playing Strength and Explosion: This coincides with the physical attribute strength. Determines how well the player uses it. Determines how well and how often a player either gets penetration or holds his ground and slips off blocks. Let's take the Dline and LB's. A NT or DT with a high rating here should often get penetration using his strength and his hands to shed blocks. Determines if he allows himself to get turned or whether he uses strength and leverage to maintain his gap assignment. For linebackers it should determine how well they use their hands to prevent blockers from taking out their legs as well as how well they use moves to stun blockers and slip off blocks.
Lateral Pursuit/Range: Determines how well the player pursues and gets down the line of scrimmage and locate the football. A player with a high rating here, works through traffic flawlessly and if he happens to get cut blocked, he pops back up quickly and still finds the football.
Use of Hands: This attribute plays out in pass coverage and run coverage. In pass coverage it determines how well a player uses the press technique to stun, jolt or reroute the receivers route as well as how well a player gets his hands up and knocks the pigskin down. In run coverage it determines whether or not a player allows blockers to get into his body or not.
Tackling Ability: Determines the players ability to tackle as well as what TYPE of tackler he is. Does he show body control in making tackles? Is he a wrap up tackler or someone that constantly goes for the big thump. A high rating here should bring a guy with balance and does all of it well. A low rating here should make the guy one dimensional as either someone that always goes for big hits but lacks body control, making him easy to juke. Or someone who has no body control but wrap tackles making his tackles a bit easier to break depending the RB's attributes.
Run Defense: Determines the overall ability of hte defender to fill lanes, stun linemen, use his hands, disengage blocks, and locates the play. Determines how well a player plays contain assignments ect. This attribute should incorprate others like use of hands, pursuit, explosion.
Pass Defense: Should incorporate agility and how well players turn their hips and run with receivers in man coverage. Determines how well they mirror receivers in zone coverage and how well they make plays on the ball once it is in the air. Lastly, it determines how well a defender recovers once he has been beaten by the receiver. The problem currently is everyone recovers the same.
Zone Coverage: Determines how well the player makes the shift off in zone coverage and how FAST he reacts to passes in his area by reading the passer and reacting to the ball.
Pass Rush and Blitz: Determines player ability to collapse the pocket getting after the QB. Determines how well he uses pass rush moves to disengage blocks, how fast he hits lanes and gets through them on blitzes; closing speed if he has to chase down the quarterback.

Other attributes the player should have are:
Athletic Ability: This is just an overall grade of how athletic the player is. Some guys are not that athletic. This simply includes attributes such as agility, strength, speed, quickness, acceleration. This rating here should be the window for the player. Some guys are not going to get more athletic. Others can and do. When a player increases in one of the individual attributes mentioned here then his window rises somewhat.
Character: we know what this is. Whether someone is brash and cocky, ie., TO, individualist or team player. A low rating here is a trouble guy who will cause problems on the field and is out for his self glory and could care less about the team. A very low rating is a guy that will cause problems off the field.
Work Habits: Determine how well and dedicated the player is to getting better.
