Developing Players

Hello,
I was always a fan of the ESPN series.. but migrated over to Madden cuz of the lack of a new ESPN games.. turns out i was playin the wrong game. The only thing i am having trouble with is developig young players. My Corners always see their value plummet, despite the fact that i hold my opponents to low total scores. I saw someone mention that he got Fabian Washington to 95 overall after 4 or 5 seasons.. was wondering if someone could help me out.. ucz my Fabian is still 79 after 2 :/ Also, another guy who i havent tried developing yet.. but plan on it soon is Adrian Mcphereson.. are there any tips on developing Throwing Accuracy and Awareness? Also.. is there anything i can do outside of playing the games that can help (get to playoffs.. win superbowl.. etc)

Also, another guy who i havent tried developing yet.. but plan on it soon is Adrian Mcphereson.. are there any tips on developing Throwing Accuracy and Awareness? Also.. is there anything i can do outside of playing the games that can help (get to playoffs.. win superbowl.. etc)

Practice the pocket presence drill until you can get 5 points nearly everytime because it is the only drill that will significantly impact AWR. Both the pocket presence and precision passing drills will help build up THA.

Because progression in AWR for QB's is pathetic this year you have to build it up in training camp before the pre-season starts. On All-Madden level the smallest cone size is given to 83 or less AWR so if Mcpherson has like 60 AWR it will take a long time to get him up to 84 AWR which is where the next biggest cone begins.

I may be the guy you were talking about regarding Fabian. He is a stud for me. The key to progressing your corners is of course their personal stats, not just how your defense does overall. They need these things in this order of importance:

1. INTs
2. Pass deflections
3. Tackles

This is just my opinion mind you. But if your corners get picks they will progress nicely. 5+ seems to be better than >4 (per season).

playing a couple of seasons i've noticed that players develop their awareness on defense by the effectiveness of the group as a whole. i.e. ur pass defense is strong for the progression period and ur db's awr goes up. Or if ur defense overall is good ur whole defense's awr goes up a bit. But the fastest way to develop player's ratings is by getting good stats.

your corners should progress if you are winning and they playing in the top 3 depth chart possitions and are getting:
1.tackles
2.deflections
3.int's
Try playing them:
A. in good special teams spots to up your tackles
B. use nickle packages vs. 1 and 2 wide (running situations) this really can get your nickle back tackles.
C. Play down a level for an upgrade section. Especially 2nd half of preseason games with 10 minute qtrs.

for guys that play games, have u had any success increasing the tackle stat of your LB's? i'm in year 2 of my texans franchise, and wong has 99 awareness but his tackling is like 90, and greenwood has 97 awareness. their awareness goes up, they get some tackles, and my OLB's especially babin get sacks. it's weird bc my safety earl has tackling in the 80's which keeps increasing but no luck for the LB's. my CB's are almost as good as WR's now. buchanon got 86 catching, lol.

To me, ESPN 2K5, has a better development system than Madden 06. How you prep is very important in regards to this. I have found the my players increase their attributes. Some do decrease in some areas but thats to be expected.
