I have an awesome OLB...

Lionel Hawkins, a 6-1, 224 lb junior from Palo Alto, California. He's 92 overall, 88 speed, 72 strength, 80 awareness, and 87 tackle. Most importantly he's an impact player.

So far through nine games and 11 weeks, he's been national player of the week FIVE times. He's been SEC player of the week SEVEN times.

He's got 93 tackles, 28 sacks, 3 interceptions and seven forced fumbles in nine games. He's averaging double figures in tackles and I've never had anyone even remotely close to that. I play on 8 minute quarters.

He was a freshman All-America and earned Bednarik, first team All-America and All-SEC honors as a sophomore.

I talked him into staying last season, but I figure he's gone after this year.

Do you control him on defense, or does he do it on his own?

I usually control a DE or DT, but I do control him occassionally. Honestly he does most of it on his own... or at least the CPU does it.

Hawkins ended up winning every defensive award available to him and finished second in Heisman voting behind my all-world TB.

He also finished averaging over 10 tackles per game. I put him in at fullback in the goal-line formation and got him a couple short TDs.

Get this... he stayed for his SR year... and didn't even consider leaving... wtf?

I've started the next season... Hawkins started out as the No. 1 Heisman guy, but now I've got my RB and WR on the list.

Hawkins isn't having as great a year, but mainly because he's got help with a stud JR at the other OLB spot and a solid RS-SR at MLB.

I am also purposely not blitzing him so much, but it shows. Teams are shredding my defense through the air, even though the D is rated A+.

Lionel Hawkins won the Heisman Trophy his senior year. He actually had better stats as a junior, but maybe the voters rewarded him for coming back instead of going pro. He did beat out two of my offensive players for the award.

His senior stats: 101 tackles, 36 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 rushing TDs (I had him at fullback in my goalline offense).

His career in a nutshell:
2006: Freshman All-American
2007: First team All-SEC and All-American, Bednarik award winner
2008: First team All-SEC and All-American, Bednarik and best LB award winner
2009: First team All-SEC and All-American, Heisman, Bednarik, and best LB award winner
374 tackles, 112 sacks, 5 interceptions, 19 forced fumbles, 2 defensive TDs, 6 rushing TDs.
