does anyone want to post their franchise team, player and overall and how much cap room you have?
i like doing franchises and i'm very curious to see how you guys maintain a good team and stay under the cap, which is tougher this year. rookies demand SO MUCH money it's insane, i had to cut half my team to sign them, lol. i'll post my texans team in a minute, i'm getting through training camp, getting ready for year 3, this team looks different but i tried to keep the building blocks together.

Well my Franchise got deleted but it was with the steelers. I had Willie parker at a 84 Overall, Big Ben at like a 91, I drafted a 6'6 receiver with 98 spd who was a beast. And My D was almost the same.

As you can see, i really ran into salary cap hell my second offseason, so i had to get rid of most of the OL and keep the tackles. Overall, i like my team and i'm happy i got rid of most of the aging players who have bloated salaries. I think i have 10 million in cap room, but i think I'm happy with my team for the most part, OL and CB's progress the best for me, so i like to develop young CB's and plug new OL into the mix.
I really don't make big trades, i just trade my players for draft picks and/or potential star players bc i need the cap room and i don't sign many high profile FA's either. i just like to work on depth and build from the ground up.

I did a Fantasy Draft with the Eagles. I'm in Week 4, Season 2, and I'll denote rookies (from an imported NCAA draft) with an asterisk.

QB: Philip Rivers 90, Seneca Wallace 71, Ricky Ray 69
HB: Ronnie Brown 91, *Alley Broussard 80, Maurice Clarett 74, *Mike Imoh 69
FB: *Brian Leonard 83
WR: Javon Walker 93, Laveranues Coles 90, Mike Williams 87, Matt Jones 82, Kevin Curtis 76, Jerome Mathis (you'll notice a theme) 73
TE: Antonio Gates 99, Jason Dunn 81 (my favorite pick, honestly), *Marcedes Lewis 77
LT: Barry Sims 95, Adam Kieft 72
LG: Vince Manuwai 94, *Max Jean-Gilles 84, Marcus Johnson 78
C: Dominic Raiola 91, *Donovan Raiola 76
RG: LeCharles Bentley (switched from C) 95, Adam Goldberg 84, Chris Kemoeatu 74
RT: Kareem McKenzie 96, Trai Essex 82

LE: Julius Peppers 97, Antwan Odom 79
RE: Robert Mathis 90, Trevor Johnson 71
DT: Vince Wilfork 93, Larry Chester 91, Anthony Bryant 74
LOLB: Derrick Johnson 92, Demorrio Williams 84
MLB: Brian Urlacher 99, *Abdul Hodge 80, Robert McCune 77
ROLB: Shawne Merriman 89, Kevin Burnett 80, Cie Grant 76
CB: DeAngelo Hall 95, Rashean Mathis 94, *Devin Hester 84, Allen Rossum 81, *Alan Zemaitis 77
FS: Sean Taylor 95, Josh Bullocks 82
SS: Ed Reed 99, Nick Collins 83

K: Josh Scobee 90
P: Kevin Stemke 69

I had Brian Westbrook, but let him go when his contract expired (one season). I also had traded away my first round pick for Laveranues Coles, and then, at the end of the season, traded Denard Walker (then a 90 OVR) for someone else's late first round pick, which I used on Devin Hester (since good punt returners are so important in this game  ). I had also fantasy drafted a different center, but he held out so I signed and traded him for Raiola.

One thing that stands out is how quickly my corners progressed. I played pretty much all the games and they had doubled up the #3 player for "passes defensed". They didn't get that many picks, though.

Ronnie Brown progressed a lot in one season because the only game I didn't play--the last regular season match--resulted in a broken collarbone for Brian Westbrook. So I had to play Brown in every playoff game, after each one of which, of course, he progressed.

I like getting a young team and developing them, then ending up in salary problems and having to blow the team up and re-build with different players, so I don't really have any information regarding good salary strategy.

Overall my team's about an 85, we've won our last two games in our first season we were 9-6-1 simulated
We're ranked 3rd in Total offense (1st running 20th passing) 1st on defense and 3rd in avg points against. First game we shutdown oakland 21-7 they're only score coming off an interception and 2nd game we squeaked by cardinals 21-16 thanks to a couple of 4th quarter final drive sacks by DJ williams.

Our next five games (chargers cheifs browns texans and seahawks) are all against .500 or less teams =]

OK this a bit off the topic. I have a Bengals franchise. I wanted to know what to do with O. Thurman the MLB. Should I drop him into DT or DE.

Dallas Cowboys year 3

QB: Henson, rookie, scrub (Bledsoe traded for a 2nd rounder, my only trade, and that's because he was whining about being benched and someone actually offered up a 2nd rounder)

rb: Julius Jones, Najeh Davenport, Marion Barber (will still have another year of JJ, but am contemplating grooming a replacement cuz I'm not sure if he's worth the $$$ he's going to want)

wr: Nelson, Clark(2 rooks with pretty good measurables), As Hakim, Keyshawn, Terry Glenn(Glenn and Keyshawn in last years of contract)

te: Witten, Douglas(2nd year player, very good overall, just not very good jmp), Dan Campbell

OL: everything is the same right now, except I drafted a rookie with good measurables and low awareness to man the RT Gurode will be gone this offseason as I can't pay an 89 overall to be a backup)

DE: Since I play 3-4, I moved LaRoi Glover over to DE to get him on the field. Let Ellis walk to fagency. Put Marcus Spears into his place. Drafted a big strong olb that I converted to de.

DT: Ferguson. Drafted some huge strong young replacement players to either take Fergie's place if he goes down, or move to DE if I need more strength there.

OLB: Bradie James, Demarcus Ware, and Nick Grieson take care of all the OLB slots.

MLB: Dat and Burnett(turned into a monster)

CB: Newman, Pete Hunter, and Henry in the slot

FS: signed Tank Williams

SS: Roy

I have around 8 million free right now, and that'll increase once some of my guys contracts expire this year. I don't think I have too many big guys that I need to resign this year.

If you want to save some cap room signing rookies, then offer them the max amount of signing bonus that you can, then lower the salary as much as you can(this works with free agents too). If they are rookies that you want to be a major part of your team, then sign them to long term contracts so they have time to develop. But if you are signing them to long term deals, then make sure that you scout them well, because you don't want to end up with a scrub that's stuck on your team because the cap hit for cutting him is too much.

This year it is so much harder to resign your players at a reasonable price it is ridiculous they all want so much money i am playing with the eagles and Westbrook wanted like 6 million a year i signed him and lost the super bowl the next year i traded him away for a draft pick and drafted reggie bush for a third of that. I traded away TO in my first year as well as Corey simon. I got Matt Jones who is the man. I traded for Derrick Johnson my Second year who is killing and i traded away Jeremiah Trotter for Shawn Merriman who is nasty too. My defense is stifiling. But i know when the contracts run out on the players i wont be able to stay under the cap.

I use the Rams and amped up their d from free agents lol. Ty Law really helps their secondary so much. Already like 3 picks through six games.

Pandemonium,

How did you get third-year players (I assume the two "MGP"s are "Madden Generated Players") to 99 OVR on the O-Line? You must be doing something I'm not. I'm halfway through my second season, and O-Linemen that started at like 92 are at 96 or so. I can't imagine getting someone from ~82 OVR to 99 in three seasons.

Offensive lineman progress un-naturally fast in this game. Especially the two MGPs.

I just drafted a new team last night. Since my previous franchise was an NFC team, this one is an AFC team, the KC Chiefs.

QB -- Culpepper, Walter, McPherson (hope Culpepper doesn't get hurt!)
HB -- Portis, Arrington, Sams
FB -- Luchey
WR -- B Edwards, M Jones, White, Jenkins, Mathis
TE -- Shockey, Watson, Seidman
OT -- M Williams, M Williams, Barron, Hangartner
OG -- Steinbach, Andrews, Kemoeatu, Dielman
C -- Bentley, Spencer

DE -- Weaver, Kampman, Sears, Gordon
DT -- Henderson, Harris, Tubbs, Washington
OLB -- D Johnson, Merriman, Burnett, A Lewis
MLB -- Urlacher, Beck
CB -- D Robinson, A Jones, Craft, F Washington
FS -- Taylor, Schweigert
SS -- A Wilson, Pool
K -- Janikowski
P -- Lechler

I am planning to put together a package that puts Tommie Harris at DE for run stopping purposes. If it works well, I may change him to a DE full-time.

de looks like your only weak spot. good draft, youth always works. i am going to play through 3 or 4 years of my chise then start it over. i want to see how it is after i cut a lot of the players, i might start a steelers franchise for fun, i usually do them and the bengals, but this year i took the texans for some reason.
