Well since the Raiders are loaded with talent on offense. I figured on taking the challenge to rebuilding their struggling D. They can score willingly but cant stop anyone. It is lacking some talent wich needs to be addressed.

Anyone have any input on who would be a good fit for Running 46-D Defense.

De's: Are slow neither of them can apply pressure to the quaterback.

Dt's: Are the strength of their d-line washington and sapp can shut down the run up the middle.

Lb's: just plain out suck. lacking a impact player who can play inside or outside.

Cb's: Woodson is a solid cornerback and they have f wahsington with great speed and physical tools. D Walker is decent but gets pushed around on the field some what. Overall they have some decent depth.

Fs/Ss: They are ok but could use a upgrade.

I was wondering if i should go after lb's such as Demarcus Ware, Derrick johnson and Kevin Burnett. They could provide a great pass rush and help shutdown the run to the outside. With D Clark over the middle this could be a
ferocious tandem

Or i could take another route and go after Brodney Pool SS and De Travis Johnson. B Pool lacks awareness but he can make up for it with his speed
and Travis Johnson has talent and could become a great player for us for many years.

Thank to everyone that replies

Hi, I did this same thing with the Colts D a few weeks back. You can probably find the thread on page 3 or 4.

What I did was I used NCAA draft classes with the actual players that will be coming out in the next four years. This is much more realistic than Madden Generated Drafts and it allows you to compare your rebuilding with other people because you all use the same draft classes with the same players.

As for the Raiders: I don't call two good WRs and a decent HB "loaded with offensive talent" but I digress.

Also, the Raiders do not run a normal 4-3 in real life. They use DE at at least one of the OLB positions. So when evaluating personnel keep that in mind.

As for the 46 D. Well I don't use it much to be honest. The little bit I have used it suggest to me a few general things:

1. You need a really fast FS with at least 90 spd. He is gonna be your safety valve.

2. For some reason, I wasn't able to get pressure on the QB until I switched to a nickel formation. This would suggest the need for some really special DEs that can escape the jam and cause some pressure.

3. When facing teams with good pass protection, having 8 in the box is a liability because your SS is usually engaged and is unavailable to cover.

4. If you run 46 bear alot you may want a couple of hybrid DE/LBs to play in the three point stance on the strong side. They need to be strong enough to rush but fast enough to cover in zone blitzes.

5. You better have real good corners cause they are probably going to be on an island much more often than a 4-3 or 3-4 cover 2 scheme.

Let me know what you think.

the offense is good, but your QB is aging, so in a year or two, you need one of your two backups to step in, both of which are good, or pick someone else up. i wouldn't do much with the RB's or WR's, personally i'd pick up an extra TE, i like to have two good TE's. the offensive line should be good for years, so that's not a worry.
on defense, derrick burgess is a solid player. if you are going to run a 4-6, you need a good defensive line. i'd possibly recommend moving tyler brayton back to DE, he has average speed and good strength. your DL is old, and ted washington will probably only play one year, and sapp may regress in time. so, i'd go after a solid DT with 60+ speed and good strength. the LB core is very weak, keep danny clark, and maybe keep a few of the other guys as backups. you could pick up a free agent or what i would suggest is trade for a solid OLB or two with speed. try and make a deal with the ravens to get adalius thomas or dan cody, or trade with the bengals, they are loaded at LB and may want to trade.
oakland has good CB's in my opinion, give charles woodson a long term deal immediately if you intend to keep him, because he's taking up 10 million. use fabian at nickleback until he progresses to be in the starting lineup, then work on getting routt at NB. hill or walker are possibilities to convert to safety if you are unhappy there. schwiegert is good though, and gibson is a good SS for the 4-6.
good luck, and remember the raiders also have great kickers!

I chucked the whole team and did a fantasy draft. The Raiders I now play are rated 88 on both offense and defense. No doubt my Raiders would beat the crap out of Norv Turner's current team.
