I would like comments on how to run this play. I like to mix this play with the RB crosses and flats plays but I can't seem to give it to the player I want. For those who aren't familiar with it, you can either hand it off to the right RB, keep it, or pitch to the left RB as an option. If I hold down "X" (on PS2) the QB either hands it to the left or right RB. I can never tell which one, which actually makes for a more exciting play but I'd like to have more control. Suggestions?

theres two double options in that formation so I would say you are using 2 different plays and not noticing cause I know exactly who I can hand off to and who my pitch man is

Be sure to know which direction the play is going. If the qb runs left, the handoff is going right and pitchman is going left. And visa-versa. If your mistaking it for the double rb option, then it is still the same principle but: qb runs left, handoff is going right, pitchman going right (pitchman goes with other player).

Thanks for the input. I just tried the play again in practice mode. The play is called SG Split - Triple QB Option. The handoff goes to the RB on the right running a left flat route and the pitch goes to the RB on the right. I can never seem to hand the ball off to the RB on the right when I want to. I tried holding down "X" after the snap, or press "X" as the handoff RB gets to the QB. Usually the QB just keeps it and runs right but sometimes he actually continues left and sometimes he hands it off. What am I doing wrong?

Wow. At first I thought you were crazy, but I just got done labbing that play and you're absolutely right. About 15-20% of the time, the game just doesn't recognize that you're trying to hand off to the FB. My suggestion would be to flip the formation and call the other triple option play (Triple Option Weak). Your TE will be on the left, but you can motion him over to the right for almost the same look. He runs a little farther out, but you can snap it while he's still in motion.

As an aside, Power Option out of SG Split is probably the single best option play on the game. The blocking always seems to be outstanding, and it develops a lot faster than most power options (i.e. there's no spin animation for the QB or anything). It's basically a speed option with a lead blocker. Very deadly play.

Thanks M-Dub. I thought I was crazy at first too since I don't remember anyone else bringing this play up. Perhaps it's just a programming glitch. I like the Triple Option Weak play and obviously Power Option. It's a nice formation to mix passing and running plays.
