I've just had a madden revolation... Don't you just love it when this happens. I need to thank all of you for helping me take my game to the next level.
I'm playing offline vs cpu on all madden, and I've made no secret that I've had trouble... but all of the sudden something just clicked. I would win before like 21 to 17 or something like that well now 3 games in a row 45-0, 44-0, 50-10.... The crazy thing is while I'm doin't this I'm hearing tips from all of you in my head. Pinch the line hear... Hit the hb in the flat. Blitz the lb on the outside...
You guys were in my head. Thaks fellas.. can't wait to get online now to test your own strategies against you.
I have a question though... When you game jumped to another level was it suddenly or was it more of a gradual climb?
Mine was like boom... all of the sudden it was there. Strange

I'm not saying I'm going to pound all of you or anything like that. I'm just saying that I'm finally at that level where the computer is no longer a challenge. It's thanks to you guys.
Alot of guys on these very forums can't handle the all madden level yet so for me it's a big ego boost to know I'm really ready for online play... Now I just need to find the time.

he is right though, going from cpu play to online play is a big change...its not even so much the competition being ebtter as it is an entirely differeny style of play.... but after an adjust ment period you shoudl be at least ok

Oh I've played online before... but only once. The lag really messed me up but I held my own. I lost though. But I'm alot better with alot of things... I do like the online lag for one thing though... I can find my holes faster when running the ball!! :)
Any way... how many of you discovered a whole new level of playing all of the sudden???

i was pretty decent going in.... offline i was pretyt much always ablet o destroy the CPU.... from offline to online in 2003 there was an adjustment and it took a while to find ways to stop the different things people were doign online.... id say more of a gradual improvment learning thigns as i go on as opposed to just being good overnight

Yeah online I got burned by the high TE pass in the middle of the feild. I was having trouble user picking it.

I think the trick to stepping up your game (wins/losses) beyond a certain middle tier level is based upon remembering the basics. I have gotten much better at executing certain plays, but I have not really been winning the games I am supposed to win.
The playoffs are about to start in my league, and here is what I'm gonna do to clinch and win the whole thing:
- No turnovers in the red zone
- Read the defense before the snap
- Take what they give
- Stop the run
- Dont get beat deep (on 3rd and long)
- Dont abandon your run game
Remembering to do all the "right" things will really elevate your game.

I think most guys who make the leap from offline to online think they are pretty good.We would all be able to handle the cpu and most of our friends without any difficulty.Damn I used to just fool around against friends offline untill the 4th qtr and then pour it on.I did this just to get friends to play (they alll liked Ea hockey better).
Then ,online...wow did I ever over estimate my ability. After losing 6 games straight I finally played someone with a worse record than me just to get a win....lol.
In the end ...I like football far better than any other game and online lets me play peeps that feel the same.I am far from great at this game but can usually hold my own.
Gl dog ....and learn that we all have to take our beat downs to improve!!!!

i think the key is being able to adjust to what your opponent is doing. if you cant adjust on the fly you arent goign to beat the better players.

I'm sure I will... I actually want to play some of the better players here when I get set up online. I know I'll get torched but I'll learn... and that's the most important thing to me.

I'd like to think that is one of my strengths... We'll see I sopose.

That is also true. I am just talking about winning the games you are "supposed" to win. I have 5 losses in my league, and 4 of them are because I got away from the simple concepts.

That's true in the real NFL too... You know if it's in the game..... It's in the game!!!!

hard to say, some of the stuff you see online your like WTF???? the CPU isnt running HBs 5 yards out of bounds and throwing to them while they are off screen. stuff liek that you have to adjust for and quickly

For me it was like night and day, I started using a new team, new pb, new style all around. I started off 3-10 online, but now I have won 5 in a row by playing great D, and solid offense.
I find myself adjusting to different styles of play much quicker. Early in my Madden 06 Online 'career' I could not handle that 8 man rush, and I would crumble. Now, I toss it out a couple of times to a TE or FB, gain about 7-10 yards each time, and I have changed the defenses philosophy completely.
I also learned to shut down other teams to less that 100 yards per game because I shut down both the run and pass. The past couple games for me I believe I have allowed a total of 50 or less yards. I know I played this one guy and he had about 5 rushing yards.
I really attribute this to the guide, and I still use it whenever I find a new style of play online.

You can do that???
yes, there are tons of other things that will make you say "you can do that?" as well.
people will run route combos that confuse your cpu contollded defenders. you might have someone in a zone, but because of the route they run the dfender wont play that coverage.... etc...
people playing punt block safe zone defense. etc....
