I've only had my 360 since Saturday, and due to busy holiday stuff I've had limited time to actually play Madden on it. I've gotten 3 offline games in and I'm at least starting to figure out the buttons.... Anyway, I played my first online game last night and was frustrated - primarily on Defense. Can anyone offer advice for fixes?
- When on D, in the playcalling screen sometimes the window never changed to show me what the offense called for a play package. For example, 2WR, 1TE, 2RB so I could pick a defensive set to match.
- When on D, in the playcalling screen sometimes the window would never change to show exactly how much time I had left to pick a play. If it's not going to show me the O's play package can I not at least know how much time I have left to call a random defense?
- When on D, once the plays are called the view switches back to the field, but it's usually a cut screen close up, followed by a second close up. Hey, the graphics are great, but now that I started the pay not knowing what package the O was using, got a random D called for me, can I at LEAST see the field in time to make one of the 3 scant shifts I have available? I did not seem to have enough time to make a shift or two, and then cycle to the guy I wanted to control.
- Cycling players is an issue. You can only go forward with the (B) button right? Is there a way to go back?
- Audible on the Fly. I can't see how to do this, and assume it did not make the cut. Is that correct?
If you guys have any suggestions, I would be most grateful. :D
Cheers, Greyking

This is really retarded that you have to do this, but what you have to do is at the playcalling screen, keep it where it shows all of the formations, not the plays, and then keep moving the box around constantly. Then once the offense has picked the play, the package will show up in the bottom right corner.

Same as above, it will show the time beneath the player package in the bottom right corner.

If your on D and this is happening online vs a human opponent, its because the player on offense is letting it happen pretty much. So you just have to wait until the cut scene is over. But if you are on offense or playing the CPU, just hit A and it will cancel the cut scene.

You can't cycle back like you could before with the A button, but what you can do is hold down the B button and use the D-Pad/Left Analog stick, to move through your players.

Yup its gone.

D - thanks for the excellent post back and information.
Wow, I knew they had cut some features out, but they have really hamstrung the defense.
Essentially, you have 10 seconds to call your D once you see what the other guy's formation is, and then you can do the following things IF, repeat IF, you have time after the cut scenes:
1) shift line one of four ways
2) shift LBs one of four ways
3) shift secondary one of four ways
4) select which player you want to manually control
or 5) audible your D to one of your pre-sets only and then start over with 1) through 4)
Key Features missing:
Individual playmaker
Group playmaker
Unseen group shifts (e.g., line stunt or loop)
That's really all there is, or am I missing something?
D-Neum, I remember you had a strong offense last time we played. You must be scoring 80 points a game in 360 if that's all the Defense can do...

NP man, glad I could help.
But yeah, that's all there is for the D. You really have to be on point with your playcalling on D to have success. As far as the line stunts, one thing I've noticed is that whenever you shift the DL, they stunt in the direction you shifted. So if you spread the DL, they take wider pass rush angles; if you shift left/right, they stunt slightly to the left/right.
But yea, my offense has been pretty tight so far on the 360. Can't say for sure on the ppg, but its up there :D.
Overall I'm really liking the game, as long as you don't get a laggy game. Once all of the features like D playmakering, formation shifts, etc etc come back next year, this game is gonna be off the hook, because this is by far the best playing Madden I can remember playing. There are really only a few very small things I see problems with. I hope they fix them for next year, but even if its stays pretty much the same, it will still be awesome IMO.
Send me a FR man, the GT is in my sig. I know you like the straight/sim ball, but so do I, so I don't think you'll have any problems with how I play. But hell, we can at least get a game in and if you don't wanna play after that cool.

You can still stunt with the R-stick...it's just non-intuitive. R-button plus up on the r-stick stunts either left or right (can't remember which). R-button plus left on the r-stick stunts outside (maybe inside...again, it's non-intuitive so I just guess when I want to do it). You can also send the LBs into blitz (right, I think) or zone (the direction that isn't blitz) with the R-stick.
Also you've got run and pass commit like 2003 with the R-stick right after the offense snaps the ball. Sorry for the less than informative post, but I can never quite remember when I'm playing, so I thought I'd pass on the confusion.... :)
