and overall I am IMPRESSED! What many people I have spoken with fail to realise is that Madden for the 360 is an entirely new build. Yes, it was a bit rushed, but it is a great start for next year. I have played several games now and only have a few complaints. No challenging plays, when the CPU runs a hurry up they are at the line immediately after a big gain, the field doesn't prgressively break down, and the jerseys don't get dirty. Easy fixes for next year i'm sure. Other than that, I like the flow of the game, the controls are nice, the annimations and tackles are great, I like the playcall options and I absoluetly love the announcing.
In Franchise mode, it is slow moving through the teams and rosters while trading etc, the CPU is very stingy with trades, and even more stingy on contracts in Free Agency(which is more realistic).
Just figured I'd share my opinion after hearing all of the negative reviews.

I like the game a lot too. I think it is more fun to play than the current PS2 game. The stuff that's missing from 360 outweighs some of the stuff that I hated on ps2.
BTW, I have zero interest in challenges in online football. It would just slow the game down. Will you be asking for commercials and a halftime show too?

I haven't gotten the game yet but was interested to know if you can still import draft classes from NCAA 2006 like you can with the regular Xbox version? I haven't seen this addressed anywhere.

I do not play on online, nor do I have interest in it at the momment. We have a good group of friends that get together and play in a league each season. Finding a class competitor online is rare. Most find a glitch, stall or some other classless means of defeating the purpose of online play.
In regards to requesting Challenges, I have seen calls that should have been ruled differently. I would like to see this in the 07 edition.
Not interested in commercials, but more of a presentation is welcome. Incorporate ESPN a bit more on a weekly basis.
The difference between you and I seems to be our means of playing the game. You obviously focus on the flow of the game and are interested in Online gameplay. While I agree that online gameplay is fun, I am not interested in playing Madden online until people clean things up a bit. I am focused on Franchise play with all of my friends. Building dynasties, drafting, developing players etc.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Mike, you are correct about the general condition of online play. Most guys who consider themselves 'str8' have no idea how to play real football, IMHO. The solution is to find the right guys to play online - joining a club is a great way to do it.
I have had this same argument about replay with another buddy of mine, so I'll give you my take. First off, I totally understand your frustration when it LOOKS for all the world that the guy got the first down, caught the ball in bounds or whatever. However, the CPU has made the mathematical determination that he did NOT - it just failed to draw the animation perfectly to match up with the math. According to the CPU, the correct call was made whether it exactly looked like it or not.
So, what those of you that want replay involved is for the CPU to start occaisionally intentionally making the wrong ruling regardless of what the math says or animation draws. You, the gamer, would be forced to make a call as to whether it was actually a bad call, or just imperfect animation. To me, there is no potential for additional satisfaction gained - only another thing to slow the game down and new potential added for the legions of idiots to find and exploit holes in the programming.
FWIW, I hate the way replay has come to be used in both the Pros and CFA. Refer to this year's Tampa/Detroit game and last night's Michigan/Nebraska game...

i think the game is ok just have to get mentally ready in my mind that there is no playmakers to use to bail you out on some plays especially on defense but i did win a game online so that is great for a person who only had the game for one day for those who base there gameplay around using the playmakers will not like this game

Since there is no Ncaa 06 on 360, the answer is no as far as I know.

Madden for the 360 is horrible - who you guys trying to kid? It's too slow. When you manually control a defender he doesn't drift back - he turns around and runs. And it's choppy - not smooth at all. They really rushed this one.

I think the game is ok, the way the players run is just not as fluid as current gen. I noticed there is no option to change the camera angle just the triggers, I could go on and on but all in all its just an ok game.....

Personally, I'm having a great time with it. Yes, it's pretty much a beta and yes, it's missing a lot (like challenges), but I really enjoy it, and that's what counts, isn't it?

I believe it would add satisfaction to my game because I would love to be able to call them. It's in football, I don't have a big problem with it most of the time, and I really like being able to do it regardless of whether it's a case of an official making a bad call or an improper animation.
And the solution to "legions of idiots abusing it" is to find decent folks to play with and just play with them. Like a lot of us do now.

So are you saying that in Madden 2006 there are plays where the refs are "intentionally making the wrong ruling"? Because I have seen several plays that I thought were wrong, challenged them, and gotten the call overturned. Heck, I played against a friend a few weeks ago and we combined to get 3 calls overturned in our game. And I played Buffalo (CPU) last night in just an exibition game and they challenged two plays... didn't get either of them overturned (both were close though) and I ended up winning 21-14 because they didn't have enough timeouts at the end of the game to stop me and get the ball back! :D
So it works both ways, in the current system users can get calls overturned and the CPU can miss calls (I remember when they first introduced challenges the CPU would never lose a challenge, and it was almost impossible for a user to win one unless it was extremely obvious). It's come a long ways.
So if they took out challenging in 360, they need to put it back!!!

i played for the first time today also - it seems that if you come with the mentality that its your same ol madden - it'll probably suck. Only after learning that its a whole new game in itself i could get past its failings and see the good stuff in it.

I finally got the XBOX 360. On the way home from work, I will stop off and buy Madden and try it out later. My suspicions are that the game will be much much better for the Madden 07 version.

I just played the game last night and it takes getting used to. The controllers are much much better because the buttons are on the top. The game is a little stiff and moves slow but still fun to get used to. The controllers being the same as the PS 2 the learning curve is almost nill.
Plays like 03 with better graphics.
