After reading this board I am leary about playing online. All of the talk of "cheese/cheesers" has caused me to hesitate.
Is there any advise for starting online play? How can I tell if someone fits the cheese mold (no punn intended). Where canI get good honest games with constructive criticism of my game?
Thanks

The best advice I can offer you, is join a league or try to get involved with a division of players. The hardest part is finding a good league that has the anti cheese rules, as a lot of cheesers are starting their own leagues (which is fine).
I think Toxic Daycare (http://www.toxicdaycare.com) has some open spots still, or you can search on google.
Another way to look for help is to do what you just did and post on forums of credited Madden NFL 2004 sites and look for help. Look me up on AIM (Tamssdad) Yahoo (drt_49) or MSN (racin_radio@hotmail.com) and we can play a few games...I'll help out wherever I can. I'm not the best player in the world, I'm middle of the road at best, but I'm always willing to help a new online player, I think it only helps our community grow.

Our league is currently full, but we are cheese free. You can check it out and sign up and be put on the waiting list if you want. http://jvfl.tripod.com/
I would say just go online and start playing games against random people, and then come up with your own list of people who are cheese free and add them to your buddy list online. (you have your own messenger built into your ea online account this year which is very cool)Look at people's stats (rushing and passing and their past games) and go from there when choosing people to play. You will be surprised at how many straight ballers are out there.
Look me up online some time (jweb69) i am far from great, but i am decent and will play you if i am on.
