punting is a big part of the game and should not simply be the same as kicking. blocked punts are a major part of the game as well, and there is no way to incorperate them in without making it possible to do it everytime in this current system.
it would be cool to have a meter and arrow come up after the punter gets the ball in his hand. maybe even have a way to straft right or left before punting.

i think the punting is ok, if anything will be improved on punting, it will be the ability to block them.

Variety in speacial teams plays and formations would be very nice... I notice every team uses the classic spread punt formation in this game yet last year I rarely saw real life teams use it.
But blocks of FGs are Non-existent in this game and I saw those quite a few times in real life too.
What was their slogan? "If its in the game, its in the GAME"?
Well maybe it should be "IF its in the game... it will be in the game UNLESS:
a) we'd have to pay our programmers too much to fix it
b) it would actually make some of you people friggin happy...like a play editor
c) can't be used in some glitcher cheese-fest online tournament that we can get sponsors and paid participants for
d) may get us in trouble with NCAA (which is why you will never see goal post come down or fans on the field).
e) doesn't jive with that marketing study we did in 1991 which says people between the ages of 12-24 play this game.. and that study cost a lot of money so by g-d we're going to continue to use it!
f) it would delay the air heads in marketing for week or actually make them come up with an original way of marketting this game besides hyping the controller reconfiguration
GOT it GOOD then it Might Be in the GAME!"-- EA

If you hate it that much why even bother buying it?

Good Question Mstaples!! :)
As you know thanks to the combine genius that is the NCAA and EA, EA has exclusive rights to college football games.
Trust me if I could find a college football game that had the same amount of gameplay (which is why I never could get into the 989 crap- to EA's credit the game is playable) and more of the features I want... I'd buy it in a heartbeat and write this franchise off until it started to improve.
I didn't buy it one year (Weinke cover) because I was stunned they took out the play editor and I never played it even though I bought it the next (Harrington cover). The only real thing that made me buy it the last few years is they added additional d1aa teams. I like playing with those teams.
I didn't bother with Madden this year (and I really can't forsee a time where I will be buying Madden unless it just has a K.A. play editor) . If 07 is NCAA06 wrapped with in new packaging and with its sole highlights being new controller settings, expanded virtual girlfriend modes and ps3 graphics then I probably won't be buying it either.
I know the VG crew,Bomber and Bert have sent numerous wishlist updates to EA telling them the things they need to do to improve the game, so for now I have hope, but we will soon get the real scoop after the E3 convention in May.. if they aren't promoting a play editor or some really creative offensive and defensive plays by then... forget it.
Thanks for asking though! :)

OK, that's is a totally reasonable explanation. I just hate it when people buy something and really like it but then totally trash the thing(s) they do not like about it and act like the game totally sucks. In a situation like that it's like you can't have it both ways. I understand there are definitely things wrong with it and it is each persons hard earned money they are spending but I like the game for the most part and will keep buying it unless it just becomes roster updates and then it would be pointless to keep buying.
