Alright, so i posted how the heck i get fired after a 4-7 season in year two. And as one person wrote, "i'm glad you posted this because now i dont have to go through it". Well as i get an hour long lunch break and work close to home, i decided to try something new.

I went for a Big offense team. Still only 2 stars but now i have a fighting chance to at least win a game offensively. Suppose to be around about an A- type offense, but it only gave me a C.

Now i am in no way trying to copy or replicate what Duckfan did with temple, but only inform readers in the same context as he did.

So by doing this set up with a run and gun offense. I have been given a decent RB and a Heisman hopefull WR. The QB is ok but young.

So far by siming the first three games and won 2 and lost one. and the lost was by a feild goal. But all games have been hight scoring. With having a good offense you are not given a good defense. So stopping the opponent takes a little talent.

Next game i'll play gain UTEP. better team, i think even ranked as of now. keep checking back.

Oh and inseason recruiting is going better. Even as a 2 star team, i have two 4 star and two 3 star recruits eyed down.

Alright to continue on. And i know i have read this somewhere for a wishlist. But these players on both teams fumble way to much.

So i played against UTEP. what a game. Come out with a 21 point lead and manage to blow that in the second half. but the good stuff comes at the end of the game. i am driving down the field and fumble the ball. So i figure great i lost the game. two plays later they fumble. So i drive down and score. 42-41. a field goal ties, 2 point for the win right. So i go for two point, what a dummy. i fail that. So great i lost the game again. OH NO! Go for the onsides kick. its shows they recovered for a second, but then i came up with it at the end. The first one i have recovered yet in this game. which i have ony had for a month now. Throw a pass to lucky WR and get to the 30. let the clock wine down and kick the winning field goal.

All inseason recruits stay the same. intrests begins to grow more.

I play against TCU. Manage to keep the game close the whole time but defense gives up a long bomb at the very end for the winning Touchdown.

Set up a visit for 4 star CB for BYU game. All others are fist on list.

BYU

Simmed the game ans win 41-38. Defense managed to hold them most of the 4th quarter.

Even with the win, i only got a soft verbal from CB. So i take a little from other recruits and add to his. hope to gain enough intrest to get a commit.
scheduled vists for 4 starrrr MLB and LE for Colorado St. game. the 3 star OLB stays 1st on list.

Wyoming. HB got suspend for 5 games. Not a starter so it didnt hurt.
Simmed game and lost 68-21. Not even a close one. Would like to have played this game, but got a bigger one with Utah later.

Even with the loss, the CB commits. Explain how that works to me. any how. the OLB drops to second on list. I leave him where he is at hoping that i get another win and gain interest.

San Diego St.

Simmed game and lost 28-35. a 3rd quarter surge helped the team when. The 3 star OLB went down a spot to 3. How do 4 star players commit to loses and a 3 star drops.

Colorado St.

Simmed game and won 42-26. Good to see that the defense could do something right this time.

4 Star MLB and LE commit and the star stays put. I am about ready to give up on this guy.

Bye week.

With the commitments of the other guys this left full points on LB. And he moves up to first and scheduled a visit for Air force.

So it seems that no matter how bad you may be, you need at least on good to great player to step up and give your team a fighting chance. If you dont have this, then trying to have the computer win games for you is impossible. Though this team is the same stars as my ball contol dynasty, i got a star to help make this happen. Now the tuff part is my two big stars are juniors. i only hope they decide to stay. With trying to improve the defense right now, i cant afford to lose them. and i am sure i wont get much for recruitment points.

Even with the loss, the CB commits. Explain how that works to me. any how.

It's actually very realistic.

Look at it like this, say I stayed in Upstate New York, and loved growing up near Syracuse University, or going to their games. Think, whatever your local NCAA team is? If they scouted you, wouldn't you be interested? Sure you would.

Okay so they're promising you playing time or something that simply fits what you're looking for. Those other schools (bigger schools if it's a 4 Star) probably are not.

So what he gave a soft verbal .. but commited after a loss. Your pitch worked, and apparently that was more important to him.

I would agree, and am ok with the 4 star CB just giving a soft verbal and still comitting after a loss. But we all know in this game how far a lot of the soft verbals actually go. The one part that seems sort of odd is that even with another loss or so, the other 4 stars stayed high, while the 3 star dropped. In my mind and better athlete would be more inclined to go to a better school. But hey like i said, its a game, not all of it makes sense.

I will give props to this game in other areas too. There are some very realistiic things about it that really show where these games have come from and where they are going. I dont know about you, but i am pumped for the new one to come out.

Ok well to speed things up a bit. i finished out the first season. Went 6-6 and got a motor city bowl bid. faced michagan st. and lost. Going into the offseason the WR heisman hopeful wants to enter the draft plus my QB. So that leaves me in a small bind. I have Sophmore QB who could just as good, but not as quick. takes away the option plays. The plus is my HB will get better and can evolve the offense around him more now.

So i go into recruiting looking for most defensive guys and some offense to add depth and replace the ones who left. I come out with 16 total commits. It gave me a lot more points to work with. i think i got around 160 or so. I had five 4 star players and 8 three stars. there rest were 2 and 1 star players. I got two good QB's, one i stoped recruiting after i got the other, but he signed anyway. I got one good WR and the others whould improve to match up to. A good CB and DE.

No need to cut players or move any around, pretty well balance right now.

Head into season 2 and my program presitge is up to 3 stars and so is coaching. Academics stayed put. Able to redshirt a couple more palyers this year, but most of the new defensive players start because of their talent. I had to do this with a SMU team on last years game and most players started leaving after their sophomore year. So hopefully they decide to stick around longer.

I got in to inseason recruiting looking for LB's with speed and hands, DT,s and HB to step up after my Jrs leave. I got it narrowed down to Two LB, one DT and one HB. The HB is 4 stars and the others are 3 stars. (i do go after more than just that, but as the weeks progress they are the ones i narrowed it down to.)

Started off real hot. Beat UTEP in overtime because they missed their extra point. Simmed most other games and won 5 straight. I end up getting all but the DT to sign. I got one game left against #8 Texas Tech and i am sitting at 6-4. Ill let you know how it goes. I plan on playing that one.

Oh and i only play no more that three games a season. the others i sim.

If i go to coach options and look at report card, there was a note in there that there is a rumor i may be offered a contract extension.

with out totally finishing the season i can tell that really no matter how good you may be playting this game, you need playmakers to help your team win and get exposure for recruits. I have played all my games under AA with sliders adjusted to settings dicussed in these threads. These are the same sliders that i used when having high rated team playing for NC. Its a difficult task but makes the game more fun. To go out as i did before and try and take a one start team with not one player above 70 is hard to do. Winning games becomes a task of its own. Like i said, it is unfair though that you go 4-7 in the second season after and 2-10 sesaon before that and get fired. I myself would much rather see a team grow in ther retrospec instead of coming out with a winning season the first years. you almost progress to fast in the game and the team improves to quickly. I am an Iowa State Cyclone fan. This is a team that was lucky at one time to win 3 three games a season. Though i would like to maybe see more improvement than what they have done yet, it is neat to see a coach grow with the team and see them become better.

So maybe taking over as bad team, having a winning season right off the bat is not a bad cocept. But to take a created school that is really bad, and expect that is ridiculas. And i firmly believe that they should let you finish out your contract. if you think that you can take a team and win when you dont have playes that fit your coaching style, or bring in freshman with little to none composer and win right away is obsured.

But then again, its a game.
