I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, given Bush's recent extra curricular activity..Williams will make an impact straight out of the gates. Out of all of the athletes in the draft, Williams had the highest overall grade. All these guys have to do is keep their f*ckin nose clean and stay out of trouble- this bullsh*t with the agencies is ridiculous. Bush just needed to to stay on course, avoid any shady dealings, and he would have gone first. I'm sick and tired of these incredibly talented athletes with little-to-no character or discipline. How hard is it to follow the rules when you're basically guranteed a contract that equals the gross national product of most Central American countries? Look at Leinhart- its hard to take the dude seriously when hes signining with an acting talent agency because he wants to get into modeling and Hollywood- GREAT FOCUS A$$HOLE!

Farmer I feel your pain. Thank to your H-town team, now I can go back home to the Big Easy and watch R. Bush and M. Vick play a Monday night game on ESPN and put on a show.
Thank you Houston for letting R. Bush land in our lap. :p

Farmer...Im a Texans fan..and at first I felt like you. After really thinking it over and looking at our offensive/defensive units..Its probably a better move. Bush's rookie contract was going to be huge, and that had a large part of us taking Williams.
Put Mario together with newly signed DE Anthony Weaver..Combine them with Seth Payne and Robaire Smith (moved back to DT from DE in the 3-4) we've suddenly gone from a horrible line to a very good line. Bush would have been nice, but we still have a good back in Davis and a young up and comer in Vernand Morency.
The rest of the draft..Well its just the normal Texans stupidity. Demico Ryans is a nice pick, but we had more pressing needs than another LB. Chad Jackson would have stepped into a 3rd WR role (where we have Armstrong and Mathis). Winston Justice could have been a RT that stepped in almost immediately (as opposed to Todd Wade..ugh). Jimmy Williams could have stepped in on the other side of Dunta (instead of Buchanan..ugh again).
The third round seems to be the Texans 'Official Take Unpolished linemen because its a weakness'. First Seth Wand, now Eric Winston from UMiami and the kid from Pittsburgh.

I think the Texans got a steal with DeMeco Ryans. Before too long he'll be the leader of the Texans defense.

I'll second the Demeco sentiment, if AJ Hawk goes at #5 and Demeco is a better LB in my opinion...thats quite a steal. Houston was ranked #31 in defense and picked two impact guys that can step in right away to help that defense. They had the 30th ranked offense in the NFL partially due to Carr getting sacked 68 times. They have plenty of playmakers in Davis, Carr, A Johnson and Moulds...they desperately needed OL / Defense. Could also use some secondary players..which they might get on Day 2 of the draft. I think the Texans had a great draft so far...
I'm not so high on New Orleans picking Bush...he'll sell tickets, but now you have Duece McAllister and Bush fighting for a job? Both could easily start in the NFL...Saints needed help other places, but I guess they'll wait until they move to San Antonio to really fix the team.
Bush is an overrated punt returner/3rd down back he's not Gale Sayers and he's not Barry Sanders, he's not even the best RB is his draft class.
Houston needs defense, with the scheme they will be running on offense they could sign a bum from the parking lot and make him a 1,000 yard rusher. Dominick Davis will be one of the top RB's in the league next year but he won't put pressure on the QB so they made a great choice taking Williams over Bush.
New Orleans got a $60 Million punt returner, congrats Saints fans!!! do you think they will keep the Saints name and colors in New Orleans like they did with the Browns or will they take them with them.
As a Broncos fan I can say that the steal of the offseason has been Houston getting Kubiak as head coach.

Don't get me wrong, because I'm a huge Bama fan. However, I think Hawk was a little better than DeMeco. I definitely think DeMeco was the second best OLB and I noticed about 3 or 4 others were picked before him.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if New Orleans traded McAllister to like Philly or someone like that.

That is a statement I can agree with.
I know the Texans needed help on their O-line in a bad way. Why then didn't they take DeBrickeshaw Furgeson?? He was the top rated offensive lineman. He would have went a long way to suring up their piss poor left side, which is where Carr got sacked 92% of his 68 times.
As for their defense, they have been making moves all off-season to help them out and there are still a ton of players that are still available in the draft that can help them out. Not to mention all the undrafted rookies that you can invite to camp and give them a look.
But the thing that really has us pissed off in Houston is the fact that our hated former team drafted Vince Young. And I must have heard on the radio at least 50 times: "If they knew they weren't gonna draft Bush, they could have at least drafted Vince Young.". But Bud Adams will tout VY in our faces twice a year for the next umpteen years, which will really piss me off to no end.

The secondary was a bigger concern than the LBs. We have absolutely no second corner, and I doubt your going to find anyone to fill in immediately on the second day.
I dont know if Brick, or heck any rookie lineman for that matter, can step into the LT spot in the NFL and be great. I dont think for a year or two at least, that Brick would have been any better than putting Chester Pitts at LT.
The big gkey this season has to be keeping everyone healthy. A full season on the O-line could go along way to keeping Carr upright.

Anyone is better than Chester Pitts.
My bigggest hope is that Kubes will implement the same blocking schemes that they used in Denver. The Broncos had the smallest line in the league, yet those guys blocked their azzez off. I would really like to see that happen here.

I tend to agree with you about Reggie. I think there's a good chance he'll be the 2nd coming of Eric Metcalf, rather than Sanders or Sayers.
Also agree about Kubiak. I'm happy with Dan Hawkins, but Kubiak would've been my first choice to replace Barnett.
I'm sure he will get the best out of the O-Line and for that matter the whole offense and I really like the additions they have made to the defense and depending on how hard everyone works and how it all comes together in training camp I don't see any reason why the Texans can't win 8-10 games this year.
One more thing, I know this forum is for the NCAA game but I'm really glad that the mods(dj and bomber) don't just move these off topic, out of place threads to the sports bar where it would be filled with ignorance like "wut r u talkin bout, reggy bush is teh gr8test player evar" within minutes.

farmer, be happy you arent a titans fan. speaking of which, would you guys like to have bud adams back? how about the way we sent MAC9(steve mcnair) off in style?
now about our draft. why in the hell do you draft vince young at #3? we could have traded that pick easily and got him somewhere between 12-25. now we have to pay him and watch him struggle his *** off in the nfl. vince was out of control in college but the guy has throwing issues. just too many questions with vince to draft him so high. a quarterback has to be cant miss IOT constitute drafting in the top 5. this could set our franchise back 4-5 years if he doesnt work out. think about it, he'll probably sit on the bench and "develop" during his rookie season. year 2 will consist of many struggles and he will probably get injured due to his strong inclination to run the football(after all he is more of running quarterback than anything else). year 3, the titans will win maybe 4-5 games and begin to have doubts. year 4, the wheels come flying off and it's time to start all over.
RND 2- Lendale(fatass) White. this guy could go either way depending on his attitude. so far since declaring himself eligible for the draft he has 1)pissed hot(army lingo for testing pos for drugs) 2) gotten fat and SLOW 3) torn his hamstring. This guy could easily become the next maurice clarrett. The titans are falling apart at the seams. The perrenially playoff bound titans were built around character players like steve mcnair(36 surgeries since rookie season), eddie george(BMF at one time), derrick mason(overreaches his potential every sunday), bruce matthews(ironman). championship teams are built around gutsy players not fat, tired slobs like lendale white. it has been a rough last couple years for me. sorry for the rant.

After living in H-Town for all of my life, I can tell you one thing, Bud Adams may be greedy, controlling, and selfish; but stupid he is not.
He'll recoup his losses (if he actually incurrs any) on VY from ticket sales and merchandising. Don't forget, VY came from here and there are still a ton of people down here that want to see him succeede. I can almost gaurantee you that you will see just as many, if not more, #10 Titans jerseys in Houston as you will in Nashville.
IMO the Titans made two solid picks. If Lendale comes to camp healed and motivated, you all will see what I've seen of him the past 2 seasons at SC. I really do believe that Norm Chow can take Vince and really mold him into a damn good quarterback.
The draft is over, and I'll have to live with the picks that the Texans made and study the ones made by the Niners. All that's left to do now is wait for July and see what happens.

"I really do believe that Norm Chow can take Vince and really mold him into a damn good quarterback". farmer, i know that you are an SC fan but norm chow just might be the worst OC in the league. The former OC, mike heimedinger, might be the most underrated. Look at the diffrence between 04 and 05. I believe in players making plays more than anyone else in the world but when your offense sets an nfl record for most passes caought by TE's, thats coaching. The qb's are simply making the reads that are given them. if 85% of your passing game is a 3 step drop, you will suck. norm chow might as well have cut MAC9's balls off last season. Norm Chow went 9 weeks into the season last year before reintroducing the 7 step drop. I wanted drill a hole in my head after watching the vols offense on saturday and the titans never-a-big-play offense on sunday. and to make matters worse, i left cable for directv just so i could watch the titans. bottom line up front(BLUF), norm chow will be gone at the end of this season. 3 consecutive losing seasons constitutes a shakeup, fisher is in there like swimwear so it wont be him but at the same time floyd reese will force his hand with his OC if they dont produce this season. man, it really hurts to watch your team struggle. relax about the williams pick, defense is always a safe-bet. there is very limited risk of that pick blowing up in your face the way that VY could.
