I was wondering, how many of you guys re-name and # new recruits?
Sometimes the names are just weird or not 'cool' for certain players so I re-do them. I also LOVE getting just the right # for my favorite players.
Anyone else look forward to doing that are am I psyhcotic?
I sometimes make sure my guys have a names that will be recognized in Madden 360 for when I export later.

Sometimes if I see a white guy named DeMarcus or Jammal I will change their name. I change the number of my best runningback to #3, kind of alittle tradition thing a started doing. I also like to have players that I know will make it into Madden to have recognizeable names.

You are not psychotic.
But my wife says I am one
thumb twitch away from a 12-step program.
(I rename my guys too. I name them after birds or fossils like Geococcyx or Smilodon.)

I re-number recruits all the time.
I don't like LBs to be 50s and I don't like smaller receivers to be 80s. I will give a 6-4 receiver an 80-something, but not a 5-10 one. I like occassionally have a WR with a 20s, 30s, or 40s number.
Also, I don't like all DEs to be 90s.
I even sometimes rename players, but not as often as I renumber them.

haha i do this too. the latest i can remember was Bob Davidson (he was black if it matters). he was a 3 star qb i nabbed for my san jose state spartans. he came into the program as the highest rated player on the team as a 74. he had like 84 spd too.
HIS NAME WAS NOT GOING TO BE BOB!!!
not a legend like this!
long story short, as a fifth year senior, BOBBY Davidson (its the best i can do! :D ) won a national championship and the heisman trophy. :D

I re# and add weight to players all the time. Moved a RB to FB the other day, as a RB the guy was 205lbs, as a FB 225. I see it as if it was a real program I`d ask the guy to add some weight for the change he was about to do. I usually add weight to players after their freshman year, the CPU does a bad job of improving players weight. That or I have a terrible strength coach lol

I am a numbers freak. I always give #1 to my highest rated senior, and I like to change RB's and WR's to lower numbers. For some reason, the CPU always seems to give all the low numbers to CB's, so I change some of those to leave more lower numbers for other guys. Basically, I give the studs low numbers a lot of the time, but I also like to give a DT 84 or something once in a while. I imagine he was a TE in high school and wore that number, and asked me for it when he got to school! Glad to know I'm not the only one...
The coolest, though, is doing it in real life. I coached freshmen football at my high school alma mater for 4 years, and was always giving kids lower numbers than normal. So much so that the year after our staff left, the new coach had to give his sophomore QB's #40 and #45 because he had a FB/LB who was 16, a TB who was 5, etc. I got a big kick out of that. I left my stamp there!

Anyone else put visors and neckrolls on players to make them look more intimidating? One year I had 3 5th year senior LB all rated 95 or better, all big kids too, I put dark visors and neck rolls on them. I was scared for other teams, lol. My D that year gave up 28ypg rushing.

I have a system too:
0-9 - WR's and Free Safetys
10-19 - QB's and Stron Safetys
20-29 - HB's and CB's
30-39 - FB's and CB's
40-49 - OLB's and K/Ps
50-59 - C's and MLB's
60-69 - G's and ... well just G's.
70-79 - T's and DT's
80-89 - TE's and DE's
90-99 - DT's
I'll scatter the WR's with numbers from 1-49.
I also edit the equipment of FS's to make them look intimidating like Ronny Lott
No gloves for WR's or RB's.
I'll edit the name of players in certain years (like 2009) so that I've signed my sons and nephews and their friends.

I rename & renumber my players all the time. Sometimes I feel bad about it for some reason, but I really like them to have slick/memorable names, makes Dynasty much more fun IMO.

i Currently am taking on the most extensive naming changing experiment of ALL-TIME!!!!!!!
I printed out every teams 2007 commitment list of recuits and am going through each Div I team and changing their true freshman players to real recruits.
On top of that i created 25 5* players, that is every five star player according to rivals100.com...those i created include Jimmy clausen etc...For the 5* players that have already committed i put them in the town where there college of choice is. For example...i created Clausen and made him be from Southbend, IN (notre dame's town) and b/c of that he ended up going to ND.....
It actually has been really fun...I am currently about 90% down with this. I recruited a week ago...and have spent several hours throughout the last week changing all the freshman names.
I have completely changed all of the top 250 from rivals...If they have not committed in real life I looked who they were most likely going to (according to their home town, and list of schools they like from rivals...also i had to make sure that school had a freshman of worthy quality..example I'm not going to name a 65ovr freshman with the name of a 4* "real life" recruit. I tried to make it as realistic as possible.
very time consuming..but i feel worth the time when i export "real" people to Madden.
let me know what you think of my idea...thanks
or questions...
