Why do they fk up a good game?

OK - so I have only had the game in the 360 for about 10 minutes - but I have to vent. I am soooo angry.

They take a GREAT game - my favorite game of all time - and they F&%k it all up to hell.

Last years version was just flat out unplayable.

I don't care about the roosters and the uniforms and player creation .... that's all sideline stuff. It's the GAME PLAY that is all important.

GAME PLAY is how you measure the game. Jesus I wish I had the ear of someone at EA SPorts ... I could write a BOOK on the little irritating chit that is stupid. . . . It's like they have tried to go for style over substance ... but they LOSE ....

Sure the graphics LOOK cool - but when you take a game and go BACKWARDS with the game play from Xbox to what is supposed to be a supperior format -- Jesus how crazy is that.

I'll get used to the wrinkles I am sure - this years game is more playable than last years (by miles) but there's so many little things instantly wrong it's just pitiful.

Hey "dad" - I did read up and everything said this years version was 'fixed' and way better than 06 version for the 360 .... and in fact it got higher marks on some reviews than the regular Xbox version.

You never said what you did not like about the game. I played a game against the CPU and just finished my first online and I think it's off the chain. The gameplay is very nice. No problems controlling the players, matter of fact, to me it feels better than 06 on PS2 or Xbox. Is it perfect? NO, but horrible? Hell to the naw! I think you will like it more after you play it a while. I am curious as to what you think is bad about the game play.

You are right - I'll like it more the more I play it.... and at the moment I am trolling through it and trying odd bits out.

But that said - simple stuff like the way you cycle back and forth thru screens and choose options. It's just Fking nutz - stupid - assinine - - - - > They have changed things just for the sake fo changing them.

I'll give you an example - I am in Franchise mode - an area I love to do. If I go to the Player Management screen (which would be EASY except theres no onscreen help to tell you how to get there ... ) . but once you are there -- at one time in life scrolling thru different postions was as easy as hitting the trigger button .. BAM you go from QB to HB ... BAM to FB ... I want to see who's on another team ... BAM BAM BAM - I am there. Not now ... oh no. Why have ONE CLICK when 2 or three will do. Now I have to pull and HOLD the rt trigger. .. then take the D pad or rt thumbstik and move it to the right and scroll up or down to get to the position I want. It's just little chit like that ... why change something that works ???? It's WORSE now and less easy to use. Period. ALSO - try making a trade now ... it was once easy scrolling through players - draft picks - adding or changing options. Not now. It's SLOW AND CHOPPY ... ???? WHY - this 360 is supposed to have a more power-memory-ability but the changes are delayed and choppy ??? WTF - I don't need a photo of the guy I am trading away on the screen ... ESPECIALLY if it slows the damn game down. Style over substance... someone should be lose their damn job. If I talk to anyone - I'll tell them NOT to get a 360 if there fav game is Madden.... and that's most of anyone I know

See above for one small example.... and if it seems a trivial thing that you have to hold a trigger while also pushing the D pad around ... you are right. It's not the end of the world. BUT when it was better BEFORE .... why the F would you change it ?

As for posting only positive posts ??? Ummmmm - it's a discussion board. You talk about everything. That's the whole point isn't it ??? EA isn't paying atteniton to anyone sending them info/feedback. Neither is anyone on this board.... I am just chewing the fat - venting - finding out what others think.

Another lame change - the way you look at the player stats of a game that's been played in Franchise mode (rt thumbstik clik) is now completely user unfriendly. Again - no way to scroll through easily by position.

And with those great graphics floating across the screen in the back ground - the stats are not that easy to read either... And for Mr Faulkner, who is now contemplating a nice sarcastic comment about my TV - I am viewing on a 32" flatscreen Sony ....

I am not a big fan of the play selection screen - it makes the choices appear too small IMO... but if they want to jazz it up a bit thats fine - and play selection by key player and by play type is a nice sort of idea - even if I prefer to know the play book and go str8 to what I want. But as I say - if you jazz it up - do it right - On the select play by formation screen SURELY TO GOD you arrange it so all the 3-4 plays are on one page, and then all the nikel plays are on a seperate page ETC ETC ... why mix up the formations so that on the same page you have a mixture of formations ... makes zero sense - none what so ever. ESPECIALLY when the different options are so small.

Then - pre-snap on offense - why the hell do you take away the ability to hot route players ? It was (again) simple before - which made it sweet ... now - who knows! Just stupid.


If your going to do it - do it right .... a lot of what made previous Madden's so good was it's simplicity in a lot of respects . . . putting TOO much on the screen takes away from the play ability... less is more...

Change is good and inevitable - you want to cash in on the advanced technology and all the rest of it.... But when you make the game more tedious, cumbersome, awkward ... it's just DUMB.

I can see your point. Everyone is looking for different things from the game. Being the NEXT GENERATION is hard because the expectations are so high. This game was bombed from the start if you read the boards. Go to madden nation and look at the post for Franchise info, they have a lot of it. In the mean time keep in mind this is a brand new game on a pretty brand new system and it will take some time for it to have what we all want wrapped up in a neat little $70 package. Remember it took a long time to get to where we are on the PS2 and Xbox and it will be better each year on the 360/PS3 also. I think this time next year we will all be amazed by the game. For now just take the improvments as they come and work around the the things that piss you off and you will enjoy 07 and 08 that much more.

Great - just got glitched - no idea if it was intentional ... but my first game online - the other guy loses his connection on the kick off and I get the loss! ROFLMAO - this is ridiculous ... I'd love to be alone in a room with one of the people responsible for this junk.

I am not a fan of shoot em up games ... so my 360 has been good for PGR3 and Oblivion .... what a crock of chit.

Having gone thru two drafts in franchise mode - the game BLOWS.

I can not draft anyone on draft day - there is some sort of gliitch that means the PC auto picks - tried every button and trigger going and it will not start the draft unless it's auto. You can not even press B to cancel once it starts.

Anyone reading this and wondering if to buy a 360 or xbox version .... don't think about it for a second longer. 360 version is full on BS.

I think you got it man ... spot on. Also there are people who are on the 360 who have never been on the regular xbox.

I was lucky and had a friend who gave me their xbox last year after I traded mine in.

I just bought the Xbox version and have had it in for 15 minutes .... this is WAY WAY WAY more advanced. Even down to tutorials and explanations of whats new - how to do stuff. I can not believe it's the same game on a 'similar' (microsoft) format. It's totally nutz.

I'm trying hard to enjoy this game.......Here's a few of my gripes:The gameplay is not very fluid,for example,when dropping back with the QB it is hard to drop back fast & fluidly and also not very fluid on the roll-out.The game animations are like a modern day Techmo bowl scene cut,and there are too many...especially on line.The gameplay also seems a bit slow.And I agree with the person that made the post about the playbooks being small,blury,and hard to read.I also don't care for the angle that their on,it is hard to adjust to.There is no auto-save feature that I could find also.And so far,every game that I play on-line makes me re-download the rosters that messes up my saved dept charts.I know alot of these are small issues but I was expecting much more.

I love the game.
Especially the fact that if you call the right defense then your players play the proper coverages and you dont have to worry about the use of hot routes and all the other candy thats in the current gen.
It does have some qwerks but its a solid game in my opinion

OK - just explain why I should pay $60 for a game that is inferior to it's other formats .... I don't mind if Microsoft and EA sports wants to rebuild the game to take advantage of 'the next gen of gaming console' ... but they need to get a quality product finished before they release beta versions and charge $$$$ for it. I'd rather pay full $$$ for a preseason NFL game than for this junk....

This game is horrible. I had four freinds over last night, all of us have played Madden together the last 10+ years of our lives, and this is pathetic. Not at all the worst ever, but compared to the jumps that other platforms have made give me a break. This is the first time in my life, that Madden has came out on a new platform worse than the older generation. EA obvioulsy agrees by having the MC on Current Generation. I have never seen such a down grade. Imagine if Halo 3 came out for the 360 looking and playing worst than Halo 2 on the XBOX. This is how I am comparing. Especially after seeing the jump that the NBA games made on the 360. I mean there is no comparing the NBA games, meaning the 360 versions are off the hook. I gave EA the benefit of the doubt last year, being they rushed it. Everyone knew that. But to see and feel for myself no gameplay improvements and little new addtions that don't add up to crap. You guys are kidding yourselfs to play this game.

Oh - and the 360 game has already gone. I gave it another morning - and it doesn't get ANY better.

I got the Xbox version - and it it INSTANTLY obvious that it is head and shoulders above the 360.

You're crazy as hell. NBA Live last year was trash. It's missing a ton of features that the current gen systems had. So if you're going to rant at least get it right. As someone said before, it's a new system, you have to give the developers time to use the system to its full capacity. IMO current gen madden on ps2 looks EXACTLY like it did last year. That doesn't take a ton of development. On ps2 they had a good system in place so they didn't have to change much. Last years Madden on 360 was garbage, so they had to basically rework it from the ground up...AGAIN. If you don't like it...take it back. EA didn't put a gun to your head and make you stand in line to buy it.

I agree this game is complete garbage, no more individual defensive playmakers....When on defense the guys move around like there robots very choppy. The graphics are great but the gameplay complete garbage thank god i got a copy of madden 07 for my modded xbox much much better.Trading in this 360 garbage for saints row next week....
