I'm still on my first Dynasty. I'm in year 6...

Do any of you have any seasons with 6 or more teams going undefeated?

My team (Temple) went 12-0 in year 5 and played a tough schedule, but the earlier part was tougher than the last. At the end of the season I was ranked #7. I was ranked behind undefeated Ohio State, Texas, Cal, Boise State, Louisville, and a 12-1 Alabama team.

This season, I'm 10-0 and ranked #3 (albeit, some games I barely squeaked by on), but Virginia Tech and USC are ahead of me and I don't see them losing any of their remaining games.

Is this a recurring problem or do I have a 'wierd' dynasty going on?

Well, I noticed that the opposite was a problem in 06, that hardly any CPU teams would finish the season undefeated, so maybe people complained and they over corrected it. I always like playing another undefeated team for the NC, but I hardly ever got to in '06 because of this problem.

Yes... I am in year 7 of a dynasty. This season the top 4 teams are:
#1 - Cal - 13-0
#2 - Nebraska - 12-0
#3 - Alabama - 13-0
#4 - WVU - 12-0

So who should be in the NC Game??

Thanks fellas. I was wondering if I had to get used to that. I lost the Orange Bowl to #4 Louisville while VT and USC battled for the NC.

Always next season.

I try to schedule the highest ranked teams I can for games near the end of the season, just for the reason you have mentioned. If I lose, I don't deserve to be in the national championship, if I win, it gives me a better chance to be invited.

that 's a pretty good tactic. conference alignment is important too. for example...undefeated (created) team ranked #2 in both polls, but playing in the Big East...no invite to NC game...why??...weak conference, only WVU is worth anything, and sometimes Louisville. Put the same team with the same record in the ACC or SEC and...presto...NC here you go. Just my 2 cents.

I'm playing with Temple, so no conference.

You're right about the timing of the schedule. I played an A+ schedule, with 3 top 5 teams. Played them all by week 5, but didn't improve in the polls all that much. I believe that if I played them late, it would've been different.

Also, I had two bye weeks late in the season. Each of those weeks, I lost a place in the polls ! DANGIT! So I wound up being 12-0, played the toughest schedule in the land, and finished the regular season #4. Behind a 10-2 Texas team that I beat in the opener.

This is frustrating. I won't leave Temple til I win a NC, and I've had a 13-0, 12-1, and a 13-0 season, and can't even get a whiff of the NC game. It's not like I'm playing ULL, Buffalo, and Duke every week.

In my next season, I played a MEGA DEATH schedule. Every team was ranked. I played 10 teams that were ranked in the top 10 at one point or another during the season.

Towards the end of the season I was #2 behind USC. I had a bye week in week 13. #3 Ohio State beat an unranked team and passed me in the polls. So, the next week, I beat #9 Georgia (42-0), while OSU beat #19 Michigan 41-19. I didn't gain a spot.

So, EIGHT seasons into my Dynasty, and I HAVE NOT PLAYED IN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. I've lost two games in the past 5 seasons... and yet to get a SHOT at the title.:(

I've played BRUTAL schedules (no simming, that's a sure way to lose ranking... but makes it a looooonnnng dynasty).

The CPU penalizes you, if you're an independant, and you're name isn't Notre Dame. (I know, I know, "If it's In the GAME, it's In the Game! :p )

The CPU doesn't factor in Strength of Schedule

The CPU penalizes you for simming a game against a weaker opponent.

The CPU penalalizes you for having an open week.

The CPU doesn't factor in beating opponents ranked higher than you before the Coaches Poll comes out.

The CPU will place a team that you beat like a drum in week 2 over you in week 12, even though you've not lost a game.

I thought there were a lot of Dynasty fans on this site, what's up? Where is everybody?

Oh, no!

That is just so bad! I am upset for you.

But, tell me this; why did you schedule a BYE for week 13?

This is what you said byes did to you in the previous season,
Also, I had two bye weeks late in the season. Each of those weeks, I lost a place in the polls ! DANGIT!

Additionally, you don't have to play ranked teams all year long, just at the end of the season. Schedule the highest ranked teams you can at the end of the season and knock 'em off one by one.

The CPU will place a team that you beat like a drum in week 2 over you in week 12, even though you've not lost a game.

This is the worst thing that happened to you. It is not fair.

blindmelonchitl -

I have seen similar things in my dynasty. However, I think the reason that you are getting blown off by the CPU is because of your no conference attachment. I did a Dynasty in the Big East and although I was a Top 5 team and undefeated, a 1 loss Ohio State goes to the NC game. I switched schools and went to Alabama and after 1 season at 13-1 and a Sugar Bowl win and final ranking of #2, I go into the next season at #1, win out, win the SEC and presto, I am sent to the NC game. At the same time I see a team (NIU if I remember correctly) also go undefeated in conference and still not go to a major bowl. The CPU has the same bias as the BCS system - against non-traditional powers, against conferences that are not the ACC, SEC, or Big XII. All this is my opinion, no facts to really base it on.

I said it numerous times in a recruiting thread earlier, the game takes into account the conference on alot of things, and going for the NC is just another one. If you play in the SEC you get the additional championship game at the end to aid in Heisman stats and going against probably a top 5, definitely top 10 team in the nation. Always make sure that you fill at least the last game or second to last game of the season with a game, and when picking your schedule , pick pre season top 5 opponents for your last couple games and get rid of the cream puff games. I don't believe the CPU penalizes for a sim win, I haven't experienced that ever. I think the conference pr lack of one is killing you
