Just pressed enter the last time in over a month and a half as I have been working on this my first official personal playbook. Last year I let Big B get his out there and said I would wait but me buying and selling a home and a bunch of other stuff took my time away from the dedication needed to provide you our members and customers a great product. I have put my entire offense in this book and schemes I have used to play and train some of my personal friends.
Many of you are not as familiar with me because out of all of the writers I am the quietest on the boards but as Bert, Kobra and Big can tell you Im one of the most visible guys from our staff in the Madden Community. I've been with Gametime Philly for close to 8 years and have helped Big B get things rolling with the WBC over the past 2 years. I hope that you guys enjoy the book and Bert is going through final editing t have it ready for you this weekend.
Again I appericiate all of you for making us the #1 Madden strategy site and allowing us to provide playbooks and guides for you through out the year.

The Titans is one of the most used this year in competitive play. So its good for me to see that people are now seeing the magic that I have known about over the past few seasons with this book. As far as the Tight Flex, I am very balanced so you will have unbaised information on every set along with schemes to make any formation you run a threat to the defense.

Please if you get the guide don't break it out this weekend in a tournament. I dont want you to get frustrated because of a lack of practice time to see how you can fit some of the plays and schemes I use in your game. Now that Im done I will be back online playing heavy. I dont play ranked games just not in the mood for cheating or people cussing me out after I tell them what I do for a living. We can always get it in online and work on different looks and things of that nature. I am sure you guys will enjoy the book, I am a very critical person and take a look at things a little different then my peers. We all have a different perspective on offense. I play a style early to find out how my opponent looks at the field and what side he normally picks to manually defend. Then once I have a feel then its time to open you up.

Bert is trying to have it for you guys tomorrow I believe. Knowing me I'll keep adding things. Once I start writing for a book it hards to stop. Kind of like having a warm down run after football practice. The stress I was putting on myself to finish is now gone but I still feel like I have more to do even though its finished. I welcome all your comments when you get it. Constructive critisim is necessary to keep our minds fresh and keep our information geared to what is helpful to you.

I am potentially interested checking this guide out. However, I am planning on moving to the Xbox360 version of Madden in a few weeks. Do you have any idea how much of the guide would be portable to the new system?
I imagine the plays in the playbook would be pretty much the same in the new version. However, I read that the new game was new 'ground up' and I am still not sure what that exactly means.

I just bought the book about 30 minutes ago. I have gone through the formation shifting section and all of the others at the top, except for the running part. I am loving it. I have already picked up on 3 tips that I did not know about. Great job so far. I am about to dive into the running section as it looks awesome! Keep up the good work!! O and maybe the best part is, it is very well written, very few typos to date!!

Thanks for the early word. I hope you continue to enjoy what I have to offer to your game. As far as writing. I was a Philosophy major in college so I had to write a five page paper every week just for that class. Bert has to tell me often to just relax and write you dont have to be so gramatical. He takes care of the editing. So great job on that Bert

Ron J,
I was looking at your guide and you state in a Pass play, to hot route your reciever to wr screen by hitting right stick and down. How can this be? They have taken out screen wr. I know this worked in 2005 but to my knowledge does not work with 2006. Please let me know if there is a way to get around this problem.

i know your ? wasnt addressed to me but ill answer it cuz i know :D
you have to make the receiver you want to hot route to a screen your primary receiver and then press down on right analog or whatever it is on xbox

11-08-2005, 11:07 PM
I thought by pressing down on the R analog stick it would just cause the recievers route to extend to the first down marker? I guess I will have to test this when I get home.
VG_Bert
11-08-2005, 11:14 PM
If you don't hit the hot route button first, just down on R stick then it will be a screen for the current primary receiver.

Sorry guys for the delay. I had to go to our league night and make some games up since I've been missing in action while writing the book. I couldn't get a break either had to play Twan aka Boogieman former EA Regional Chicago winner. he beat me in the last min of the game. 42-35. I passed for 325 yards though, I just have to get my timing back head to head is extremly fast and if you take a week off from that type of competition its hard to step back in and still be sharp. I loved the fact that everything i wrote was working quiet nice.

hey philly ron
I am just wondering before i buy if ur book is mostly pass ooriented.I love vg's products but i bought the min pb and returned it because it just didnt fit my style of play.
I play with denver and run mostly a ball control offense with the hou pb.
I dont like buying stuff if it doesnt fit my style of play.
I have to admit the hou pb is a lil tuff to move the ball with the pass.

My book is my style of play so It is ball control but it can also get wide open if my opponent has a powerful offense. I go over about 10 type of runs and break them down, No need to give you 30 runs if they are basicly the same thing. I also do a running the ball section that gives you a scheme that will increase your run production. The passing game has more plays because the game has more passing plays but the book will give you plenty of information to be balanced.
? about Gimmik plays. Gimmik plays are grey area plays. Meaning border line glitch. But they are there for you to see and to learn how to set them up so that you can see where they are weak at. You use at your own risk.

i clicked the link and read about it but what kind of stuff do thet have in it?
do they just show all the plays in the playbook and break down 10 of them?
is it really worth it? or is it just beginner stuff like how 2 use hot routes and stuf like that? do they go in depth with a lot of plays? or is it just basic concepts like how to beat cover 2? plz give me a lil info about it before i buy it

As far as what is in the book. I think I said this in the sales letter. This is what Iuse to compete against the likes of a Big Gene, 40gss, Tommy Gunz and Twan aka Boogieman. ask any competitive player about these guys and only a few have the privilage of saying I can beat them. I mean Genn has won 50,000 grand last year from EA and him and Sandman split 25,000 the year before. These are my head to head guys I play on a regular basis. and then you have the though process used to lab with my WBC members as well. I wouldn't think its basic.

My 1st impressions of the playbook... I thought it had some useful ideas. He has alot of detail with what he likes to do with certain plays. I think he goes over about 40-50 plays. Which should be plenty but it also gives you ideas on how to mix up those same formations with formation shifts to give different looks, so you can maximize passing and running game.
IMO - The titans pb I think has excellent passing routes, but the pb lacks the running plays I tend to favor. Ron J PB does go over some of his favorite run plays and how he like to utilize them.
I don't think it was a waste of money, but it does help me by giving me ideas with my own PB. I probably will not use the titans PB, but I still need to give it some time and practice.
I hope this helps tjor24

11-12-2005, 05:26 PM
one more thing to add...
The only thing I wish he would add when writing up instructions would be to add how he is throwing the pass with certain routes. I don't know if its Harrington or what but I always seem to over/under throw the ball. Sometimes you were unsure if he was putting touch on the ball or bullet passing or using the analog stick when reading the PB.
But it was good Overall

sum of the stuf in the book is really unnecessary. like the pb breakdown and packages. i would think that most ppl no all or at least most of the packages by now. the book is pretty good. i would recommend it, could still be better tho. they should of used more situations like running a certain play against a few different specific plays.

The Vikings playbook is really good too. There isn't much difference in that book and MIA PB. I like the MIA because of the quick audibles are better.

tjor24:
I agree with you in regards to I could have provided more situations. Whenever I write something I post a message on the board saying "Playbook Interaction" I always give you our customer the chance to send me looks to attack based on what you are coming up against out there. I didn't get to much feed back so I took the most used situation (Blanket Coverage) from a Dime I believe and ran a play against that.
The purpose of the formation shift looks are to provide you with a look of the different looks of the play so that if something jumps out at you, you will be able to grab it and run with it.
And as a writer I can never assume that minor things are unnecessary. If someone was to pick up the game and play it the first time write after buying my book I need to make sure all the basic stuff is there for them also.
I do thank you for your input and recomendation.

in titans pb, and in a lot of pb's, theres a corner route where the x reciever(far left)slants inside, cuts straight upfield, and then breaks to the corner. its in strong i-h pro TE option, weak i-h pro TE option, shotgun slot str, sb slot str, and a lot of other formations and pb's. i was wondering if any1 else has a problem throwing that corner. i always end up throwing it to the wr's left shoulder where the defender is in front and he knocks it away. unless i lob it and jetpack in single coverage i usually cant get it.the only way he gets separation is against a cover 2 zone where i drag the fs toward the middle with another reciever. can any1 tell me how ur supposed to throw it or if ur only supposed to throw it against certain coverages
PhillyRon
11-13-2005, 07:50 PM
Your talking about a C Route. Thats one of the easiest routes you can throw. If the corner is even witht he receiver throw down field, if he is ahead of the receiver then throw underneath. If they press throw the early slant if they lay off or favor outside you can take the seam part of the route. You have so many options on that one route.

I don't think top balla's are using Philly PB, I know the VG Crew don't use it on a consistent basis. Check the filmroom for like plays and situations. CAse in point Kobra did a write up on "The Strong I Twin-TE HB Counter Weak" Philly PB doesnt have it but it does have the Strong I Jumbo, flipping the play and motioning the TE out (right-side TE) and play-maker the HB counter to the weak side and you have the same play.
Ron sorry to go off topic, but i couldn't let the Philly PB question slip by. ;)

"Ron J,What's up Peace" i have been playing with the titans playbook for a month or 2 before your book came out and i have to say your style is real cool on how you broke it down. I have a fiew questions to ask you about it thow. With the formation shifting and the rp glitch how do you attack this? I found that the singlebackbig off tackle to be one of the most deadlyist play in the playbook i wanted to know your thought on the off tackle plays in the playbook?
PhillyRon
11-15-2005, 03:22 PM
Off Tackles are good runs, but because of the style of play I am normally playing against a run play that has the QB and HB taking a side step before getting the ball gets blown up alot. However every opponent is different and online you can get real nasty with some off tackles. In tournaments or league play off tackel is a little tougher to run.

i wish more pa passes came off of slam plays this year. the slam plays in the old maddens used to have a hop step and any blitz could shut it down. but with the way its run this year i think it might be the best running play in the game because its so fast. it acts kind of as a draw because if the defense blizes the wrong spot youre already in the secondary. And its better than any dive play. i just felt like adding this in because i love this play so much. no matter who my back is, i can run it every play for good yds....

RON, how come in your guide"basics of passing"-against cover 3, the defense is in 3-4 cover 3 and the offense is running streaks out of weak i normal, how come the rcb covering the se moves drastically out of the way to help cover the te? ive never been able to get a defender that far out of position by looking off or pump faking. will the defender do that every time with those plays matched up, or was it just a fluke u guys happened to pick as an example?
mgplaya2005
11-17-2005, 11:57 PM
i think it is the route that the TE is running because their is another play i like out of that playbook that makes the safety bite towards the TE leaving the WR open
PhillyRon
11-18-2005, 01:08 PM
The rule associated with the Cover 3 defense makes the Safety or Corner Bite. The Cover 3 Safety is really just a Cover 1 Safety, responsibility is Deep Middle. The Deep Middle zone does not mean The safety will play deep middle what it means is The deepest threat I must stay behind him. The TE streak will keep the Safety occupied giving you inside position on one of the corners.
When the Opponent is using a play that has inside dbs to both side like Dime or 3-3-5 then I work away from this play. But its really based on how they manual cover

Ron J,
Let me say great job on your playbook! I bought it less than 30 minutes after I got the email and I dove in about an hour or so later. Very deep in detail and easy to read and follow. I picked up on the Titans playbook after looking over the plays about 6 weeks ago. I used the Pass Balanced playbook last year and it was my bread & butter. This year's Pass Balanced didn't fit my style of play and I had to search fro the next best thing. Shotty Trips TE is a beast & the plays in the Titans book are more explosive than most I've seen. It seems to work best if you work to establish the run and then open up an air assault once the D starts to believe that the pound is on. A few key points stood out in your book:
-Offensive Package Breakdown: Explains in detail all packages and how you can use them to create an advantage.
-Formation Shifts: Gives real world examples of the shifts and what they could lead an opponent to think.
-Route Moving: Sweet, Sweet, Sweet...explanation of how to assign routes(not hot routes) to different players via hitting certain buttons (worth $20 alone)
-Running the ball: Excellent scheme of looking at defenses and exploiting their weaknesses with a simple system!
Anyone considering getting this, do so if you want to improve your thinking game. Once you get it, practice and get your stick skills down. Then you'll enjoy playing the game from a strategic standpoint. Once again, great job Ron! :D

Hi Ron, first of all i want to thank you for the excellent write up on the titans playbook. I was looking for this for a long time. As i´m playing the titans in a german online league it´s exactly what i needed :D
1. as i´m playing online on the PC platform are there any things that are not working online on the pc ? I´m asking because there where several things over the years that did not work online....
2. Concerning the Titans Playbook call sheet i was wondering what exactly you mean with -coming out- and in that section -1 to -6 Runs ? and the section 1st at 7,8,9 do you mean the yard lines ?
thanks again

And no luck so far with the zone buster plays.. I think my timing is off.

Hey what's up Ron ? I wanted to ask you what you would do in this situation. i was playing this one guy online and he would come out in a bear or goaline defence then audible out once he saw you were passing (rp glitch) he played some form of nickle and gave me fits all game.(nickel cover 3 or 2 and man with bump and safties playing out ) He played with the bears and used Urlacher .What would you do in this situation. Mostly the people i play are doing this because i can tell once they imediatley audible out or reset there 9 in the box. I use the titans playbook so i wanted to know what plays and formation on attacking people who do this. Thanks
PhillyRon
11-25-2005, 02:10 PM
I'd go into the single back Big Wing, Big or Big Twin WR. See if he audibles and the go from there. If he stays in the goaline or 46 bear then I pass and if he go to nickle I run but those formations can force them to show their intent.

Ron,
Just wanted to thank you for the hard work you put in the Titan's pb. I had a buddy over to the house and he's pretty good at the game. I ran the shotgun offset formation heavily. At one point, he said "man I don't no if you are passing or running!" Needless to say I lost the game in OT. Even though I lost, I had him commenting how I was able to disguise what I was doing on offense. Thanks again man, job well done. :)

My ZOne plays change on a regular basis. The playbook is like fine wine, It gets better with time. The more you play the more you will see small things that become a problem for the defense. My base ZOne beaters are Shotgun Slot Strong Read, Singleback Slot Strong TE Option, Singleback Slot Strong Middle Hook.
SupaManu:
Im glad your seeing a quick progression in your game. I worked with Kavica Pittman, former NFL player on his Madden game and he said the same thing. Im kicking my teammates @_$ and they dont know how to play me. Then he said maybe after he whip on them for a while then he will tell them about me and our site.
Other Pros with VG knowlege are Jerimiah Trotter, Ike Reese, Teyo Johnson. These are all guys that I have personally been in contact with in ref to Madden.

cool,
Thanks. I brought yours, and just got the compression yesterday. Question. What sets do you use out of the playbook that you find are best at compression? I love the sb tight, but the sb bunch to me is easier for me to read as a compression set. I'm trying to combine both styles.

PhillyRon
12-08-2005, 08:22 PM
Me and B run the same style of offense but we do different things. we can both use the same playbook and see a whole different way to attack. The Titans playbook is a compression style playbook when you look at how a lot of the plays have multiple routes designed to free up other routes, flood zones or set picks on man to man defenders.
the other question about the QB trickery and Shovel pass. you got to see that first hand. Sorry

Hey, i bought the playbook, hours after release. I never recieved a call sheet, now I see you linnked to it, however the link is broken. Could you please point me in a direction to download this. Either post here or a PM would be great thanks.
BTW The book is great. It has helped my passing greatly. I am not a great runner, however this book and system have allowed me to recognize when I should pass and when to run. I would say that one Singleback formation alone has allowed me to own several opponents. So building on that by developing a few running looks out of that form, coupled with motion have made balling very easy against MOST opponents.
This info I feel is enough to really advance ones game. Between this, labbing your theories, then applying them to my game and team takes care of the scoring part of my game. Practice is the key as well as devoloping a system built on this foundation. Now if only you had a Defensive guide to go along with this.

Very good playbook ron! After practicing some of the plays I figured I'd try my first online game. I forgot to load the Titan's playbook so I didn't try to pass to much because I didn't know who to throw to depending on the cover so I picked some run plays from your playbook and used your tips and managed to get 120 yards rushing with Thomas Jones. The only two passes I threw were your slant play and WR option from I Form and they worked wonderfully on 3rd and longs.
Thanks for such a great playbook!

what are some plays in titans pb that allow you to go deep against cover 2 man and cover 3? cover 2 zone is probably the easiest coverage to beat for me because all you have to do is occupy safety and maybe a corner depending on the route and you can get a ton of yards. but no one i play uses cover 2 zone. everyone i play uses 2 man under or cover 3 zone, which are hard for me to stretch vertically.

Quick question: I have Madden 06 for PC and can't get the sequence used in "QB Trickery" or "Goal Line Fk FB HB Pitch." I press the formation shift button but when I press the slide protect button it doesn't cancel the shift and it doesnt cancel my audible.
Im using a logitech rumble USB controller but the assignments are correct - when i press 6 i see formation shift and when i press 5 i see slide protect.
This only for consoles or am I completely misinterpreting what you were trying to say?

I see SMART route a lot. What is this? How do you do it?
Thanks
A smart route makes the receiver extend his route to the first down marker. For example if it is 3rd and 8 and your WR is running a 5 yard hook route, you can smart route your receiver to extend his route 3 more yards for the first down. Now I'm on PS2 so I don't know what it is on XBox, but for PS2 hit Triangle, the receiver's icon, and then down on the right analog.

Just bought your playbook and I have to say that it is awesome. I only had time to read bits and pieces of it before I played a game, but I went from a terrible player to beating someone that was a level 20 ( I was a level 1 that only one 30% of games). Now if only someone could teach me to play defence. :)

Guys thanks for all the praise. Currently we are working on the 360 Book or should I say I am working on my sections. Kobra and B are basiclly done. I may do one more book for the regular XBOX but we dont want to seem like we are pushing products on you. If there is a need for something we will be on it but I dont think you guys understand the level of respect we have for you as customers and want to make sure we are not overwhellming you.
SuPeRfLykId: Thanks and Im glad things are running smooth for you with the playbook. A little tip for you, and everyone else. There are plays that you will run on the 360 game that you may not use that often in the regular XBOX but after success you will see just how open this whole book is. in particular HB Cutback.
JSchmooIV: Im not really a fan of the trips but I love the Singleback Big Twins WR. If you pay attention to pro football you will see how the TE is dominating the playoffs. Both the Steelers and Seahawks have TEs that the team relies on. The Trips formation does not give me enough control of the seam. I like to control the seams to dictate where the safeties can go along with what coverage the defense can play against me deep. The SB Big Twin WR allows me to do this.
moos3p: First I am happy that you see the early potential but please make sure you put the lab time in so that you do not hit a slump. I want you to enjoy continued success not just quick success. But keep it up and I look forward to hearing more on your success.
Thank You all. :D

Great stuff Ron, which would compliment your book better, the compression guid e or the virtual playbook?
I also love all of the stretch plays out of this book, if i can get numbers in the blocking game it seems i can gash the Defense for 5-15 yards at will using the slant 18 or any other stretch type play in the titans playbook. 1 question i do have is the fullback power out of the weak I formation. It just doesn't seem that i ever get the correct numbers to run it. I've tried motioning the hb to clear out 1 of the lbers but i still can't find much success with that play.

I seem to have a lot of success with the FB power. I just run it A.S.A.P. come to the line hike the ball before they can make many adjustments. I have been getting about 5 or 6 yards a pop. Now you say you love the stretch plays. Can you give me a hand with those? I lose yards everytime I run one.

If you can get 4 on4 or 5 on 5 then you should be able to have good success, sometime you'll actually get 5 vs. 4 or 4 vs.3 and then this play is absolutely deadly. 1 way i found out of the tight flex to run the stretch play is to playmaker it to the opposite side, then you can motion the te into the fullback spot and the majority of the time you'll have the numbers to rip off a nice positive gain in the running game. Like he says in his book though, regardless of most running plays if you have the numbers it will be successfull and vise versa. Except i never can get that darn fullback power play to go for more than 0-3 yards.
I guess it also depends whom you are playing against as well, i like to play str8 sim ball and guys whom i play, do as well. Not sure if the stretch play is effective against the gimmick defense's.

Great PB Ron.
Simply follow your blockers. Sometimes you need to slow down a little and let your line get in front of you on the stretch plays.

a team wit an elite TE...i.e..the Cheifs, Chargers...etc..

I will agree with that. Im starting to find that the better your TE the more options you have to go to. This is no secret as you see in the NFL how teams with good TE's are normally better on O then teams that don't really use the TE.
I use the Broncos if playing ranked but most of my games are non rank so I will use the Eagles, Broncos, or Titans

Just make sure you stay balanced and use the whole playbook. Those double tight end sets used with the tight flex can cause problems for your opponent.

Ron,
I've had recent success running the quick fade route out of the tight flex. I used the Seahawks SE (not going to shame myself for the spelling of his name) My question to you is this. The SE jumped about 75% of the time I threw it to him. Do you think it was his jumping ability, precision passing, the d he called (he used man, zone and doubled the SE) or something else?
Peace
PhillyRon
02-18-2006, 11:00 AM
it was precision passing plus you threw the ball just a tad to early. Trying letting the QB drop back (CPU) and then you throw the ball. once you get that timing then you can do it all by yourself.

This Pb Is Very Dominant Ive Used It And You Can Mix It Up Alot But How Do You Work On New Plays And Mix It In With Your Playstyle

Raider:
Im not sure if we are doing seperate books for the 360 but I know we are putting out 1 base book for the 360 Madden.
HENN AND BREW:
The way I work on new plays or adding to my play style is by going over what sets I ran the most during the game and what sets I didnt use as much. In tight situations you should recognize what you run to. I force myself to not have one set I run to if a person gets me in a 3rd and long or a 4th down, must have situation. What you will start to see is that everything looks simple and easy and you are not in 3rd or 4th down situations unless its from a drop or over throw.

THANKS RON J IM GOING TO TRY THAT MORE BUT 1 MORE QUESTION THERE IS SO MANY PLAYS YOU HAVE IN THAT PB ITS LIKE A LITTLE KID IN A CANDY STORE THAT RUN TECHNIQUE WITH THE LINE UP MY RUNNING GAME OVER 20 YARDS A GAME HOW DO YOU DEVELOP GOOD POCKET PRESENCE BECAUSE BECAUSE A LOT OF PLAYS YOU HAVE TOO SIT IN THE POCKET FOR A MINUTE I PLAY ONLINE AND EVERYBODYS BLITZ RATE IS 40% or more how do i work on pocket presence too get more off your plays off.
PhillyRon
02-23-2006, 04:42 PM
HENN AND BREW:
Blitzing is a part of the game. So welcome it. You need to start logging the way people are blitzing and what blitzes are giving you problems. 3 man front, 4 man front press coverage, all at the line. Then all you do is go to practice and duplicate the same look. Most of the time its not the blitz, but the look and you worrying about what if they take this guy away, then what. Dont do that. You are in charge and you have to keep an aggressive mindset. Practice your 2nd and 3rd read. your passing O should increase as well. Good Luck

Ron i enjoyin the book. i have a quick question. why was there not a bump and run beaters? do u have any plays that beat tight coverage?
PhillyRon
04-07-2006, 12:34 AM
at the time I wrote the book I wasnt really focusing on bump and run beats I had really been working on pulling routes and using multiple formation shifts. I still dont wory about bump beaters I normally attack what the D shows me and live with that
I saw on an earlier post that you liked Madden on the 360. Are you still liking it? I got your Titans playbook and I decided to give Madden a run on the 360. I have to admit I noticed the flaws like everyone else but I like the game a lot now. I think I'm going to finish out the year playing it using your playbook. Are you going to do a book for 07? Also how do you think your book goes with the 360 version?

Most people hate the 360 in the first few days, but after those few days the people who give it a chance and realize that this is the future of gaming start to like the game more. It is less forgiving on mistakes or bad reads. Its harder to run the ball and overall the game seem slower but in reality it isn't. I have gone between games because I still have articles to write for the filmroom but the 360 makes it so easy for me to play the regular version because its like taking a step back.
My book works just the same in the 360 its just some of the tournament tactics don't work because the AI is 100 times better on the 360. But I focused more on fundamentals so everything should translate.

I may do something but I would think wait for next year now. Im not sure there would be a real intrest for a 360 individual team playbook. If we do any in the filmroom I will put a Titan play in there
I would like to see you break down a D or a O play for the 360 in the filmroom. By the way I learned a lot from your Titans book. I'm done online for the year on the PS2. It's too hard to find a straight game without someone trying a punt block or using that run/pass glitch or just disconnecting if they are losing. When I read your comments on the 360 I switched over and I'm liking it way better. The more I play it the more I wonder how people hate this game. I like the way you broke down real football knowledge in your book and playing the 360 you really have to understand coverage and make reads to move the ball. Your stick control has got to be on point too.(any tips on how to get that better on the 360?) I know most people hate the game on the 360 but if you could throw a play or two in the filmroom I think it would help out quite a few of us that do like it. Keep the real life football tips and great breakdowns coming man and make sure you put it down again for the 07 version.

Hi, i am new to VG Sports and i don't have any of the Playbooks yet. would the Titans book be a good one for a first timer? or should i start out with something else?
This is an excellent book to start out with. You get everything from basics to more advanced stuff. He starts out showing you basic pass coverage and what routes beat them. Then a lot of info on the run game.(This is worth the price of the book by itself) Then he breaks down a bunch of plays. I don't remember how many but it covers all kinds of formations from I to shotgun. You also get a little bit of formation shifting info. He breaks it down to the smallest detail and you don't have to use to many hot routes. I think this and Big B's 201 is the best. Starting out with the Ten would be sweet.

Everything translates except for the small amount of stuff I had talking about questionable plays. Pulling routes and the HB shovel pass.
I write based off of concepts I had to defend in college, so football scheme translate to any level of play or game system.

I have been using the Tennessee PB with Denver and had success but recently I am having struggles with the passing game. Im not worried about tunning but I start getting in truble when people bump or play zone with the blitz. Usually I would throw it deep but the O-line starts breaking down before I can. Also, when I struggle i have a tendency to go exclusively with 5 WR's, SB Tight, or Shotgun Trips TE. Is there any reason for me to use other sets for passing?

If they are blitzing with man bump usually that means they have 1 or less safeties deep. When I see this I audible to the angle fade out of Tight and have my fastest WR running the fade. Also, vs bump work the 5yrd in and outs to your TE. One thing people overlook is that "Bump n Run" is not JUST bump n run, its press coverage, so after the bump the D will play tight coverage and sometimes overcommit.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while but we have been busy working on outlines and concepts for next year lineup. As far as my book. This is a book designed to help the head to head player. it will give you specfic things to look for as well as ways to set your offensive scheme up. The book follows in order of importance so each chapter builds off of the previous. By the time you are finished you should have a solid foundation to work from.

Ron.
I have a quick question about the playcall sheet provided with the Titans playbook. You have a section called "coming out" and a section called "1st at 7,8,9". I can assume that the "1st at 789" section is for a first down at your own 7,8,or 9 yard line. Is that correct?
However, the "coming out" section I don't understand. Could you define what you mean by "coming out"?
Thanks.

Sup all,i think im going to be rolling with this book for 07 now(i have 3 good TEs)I found a nice adjustment you can do in the Singleback Twin WR TE Formation. On that PA rollout play just hot route the starting TE on an out route, and that gives you one more option to throw to on the rollout, then you also have the 2nd guy on a drag and the WRs doing their thing.I know its basic but its a nice little adjustment.

I think if you use the Broncos, you should stick with the Broncos' playbook. (or maybe Atlanta's?) It really utilizes the attributes of their team, which is their "speedy" offensive linemen, and Plummer's mobility, by having a lot of stretch runs, playactions, and bootlegs. Those bootlegs are effective because their FB and TE's can catch the ball. You won't be that effective running dives and blasts on a regular basis with the Broncos because most of their OL are not the type you want to engage the DL straight on.
