Sup guys, there's something lately that has really been annoying the cr@p out of me and it's defensive pass interference vs. the deep ball.
What I'm talking about is when your CB/Safety is just over the top of the reciever with slight separation (about 3-5 yards separation), but when you go for the swat, you get a f-ing P.I. called! It happened to me like 3 times in one game last night. I backed Jammer up so he has better position vs. the deep ball with the overtop positioning on his reciever, dude throws the bomb, I click on Jammer and manually sprinted back in perfect position to swat the lob, but when I swat the ball away I get called for P.I. It's like F*CK!, cause I actually make a decent manual play, yet I get boned for it. And if I don't swat, it gets caught, or if I play with normal positioning or BNR on the reciever, the CB gets burnt either way. SUCKs, but it's that P.I. that's pissing me off.

Jammer getting burned what else is new, anyway, just be a safety and dont let them get behind you, square up and pick it off.

haha, I know, but I'm actually talking about when their NOT getting burnt (overtop position on the reciever). This goes for D. Florence or any CB/Safety. I'm overtop the reciever, in perfect position to swat. I do get the swat off, but get called for P.I.
I know about being a safety and what not. But I'm talking about those moments when your being a bit more aggressive and your opponent just hikes and throws the bomb. So you click on the CB, sprint back and try to get inposition for the swat. Do note, that I back up my CB pre-snap so he's actually in position to take away the deep ball.

Not only has EA decided to ramp up the deep ball, they decided to make the PI calls totally one sided in favor of hte offense.
I have played 60+ games so far, and I constantly throw deep lobs and others throw them on me. I have seen at least 25 defensive PI calls and NOT ONE OFFENSIVE PI CALL.
Offensive PI is non existent in this game. You can take the WR and bump/run circles aroudn the DB in teh open field going for te manual catch and it wont call offensive PI on you.
Totally ridiculous.

I almost lost a game over that siht. Dude lobs it up to Harrison, I have the cb playing underneath and the ss playing over top. Squared up with cb and swatted, flag PI! To far for a field goal next play incomplete game over. whew!
I get called for PI, ALOT. When I get an answer for this,
I'll share it. Its usually my own fault, but I get called for
it alot.

Yeah, I gave up a HUGE P.I. call with about a minute to go in a game tonight to put the guy on my 46. It sucks. I had the cornerback underneath, and I controlled the free safety. It was a play action, and he threw it long to Hines. I had picked one off earlier, and I came over to do it again, and got called for the P.I. It's pretty hard to get there and knock the ball out without getting called. I managed to force the guy to turnover on downs, and I kneed it out. Oh well. Take the good with the bad.

I've actually been called for offensive pi just about as much as I get called for PI on defense. I just try to stay to one side of the receiver when im running back, get to the spot face up and pick that ****.

When you are in position to make the play on the deep ball like you described DONT SWAT IT instead use the triangle button to try and catch it... get like slightly behidn the yellow circle and jump while pressing down on the arrow pad... he will jump for the ball, and even if there is contact they wont call PI because you are going to catch the ball

That's pretty much what I do , Jersey, and I get called for P.I. a ton. Especially on the long ball. It's like, I get to the spot first and I'm jumping for the ball. The receiver runs into me, and I get the P.I.

I just dont go in front of the WR, I go at an angle from behind and just do the swat animation where he jumps high and knocks it down with 1 hand

What if you got about a 3-5 yard separation between you and the reciever and you got overtop positioning? What you do then, slow down and let the WR pass you up a bit, then swat?

i TRY to strafe around in that case, so i can cut the pass off. otherwise, yes, i will slow down so i dont overrun it.
the only time i get PI called on me, on O or D, is when i go for a swat/catch but dont touch the ball. like ill press the button but miss the ball (maybe im too far away, got a bad animation, etc), and when you press the button alot of times you slow down, so the other guy runs into me. PI is called. had i hit/caught the ball, it wouldnt have been called. this happens mostly on balls that are just out of reach that im trying to catch or pick, and then i get bumped into from behind by guys who were even farther away from the ball than i was, yet PI is called. lame, but you can prevent it.

I admit frustration at lack of offensive P I, but let's remember last year the only time real refs decided to call it all year was in the Superbowl. Harrison could be called on almost every play.
