so i have not posted often or recently but i do read alot of what is posted here and sometimes i feel the need to share my thoughts.i think alot of people struggle with the compression system because it is a system.remember this if you are a tab "a" in slot "b" person find a new offense. when ran properly the compression can only be stopped by the person running it.that is why almost all nfl teams run some type of compression "O". many of you say what are some good compression plays? answer none/all. with that being said i will give you a compression scenario:
first and 10 from your 30 you come out in a base package.first check to see how the d is lined up.when you determine the type of d then you use the compression; as follows they press with safeties up you go deep, they back off hit the flats, they gang up on compressed side, run away from it, they play a balanced front (no ****s ect) run it up the middle or exploit any match up advantage, they show heavy blitz you max protect and go deep or form shift to a spread formation motion back to compression and make the d show you their panties, then run up middle or throw behind the blitz. the key to the compession is understanding how the system works and giving yourself all the options mentione everytime you come to the los, if you are runninig the compression and you do not get a why don"t you just run a play without all the extra stuff message you arenot maximizingthis system. for the record my stick sucks i am hardly ever online(why bother) but i am here alot and enjoy the site.

Thats how you should run your offense out of any set, take what the defense gives you. Many SPREAD offenses (like the RnS) use the same principles, only in different ways.

A lot of people turn away from compression offenses because they see that in alot of the compression sets that all the WRs lined up close to the O-Line, so that means that the CBs will be jammed in the middle making it hard to pound the ball, and with all the CBs and LBs bunched it will be hard to tell where the blitz is coming from. They dont understand that sometimes in compressed sets, on an outside run all it takes is one WR to make a good block for you to gain big yardage on an outside run. When I run my compression offense against someone who plays alot of Man D, I attack the outside of the field, in Tight forms the WRs will have more room to get seperation on corners, outs, etc. to the outside, so I find plays that will get them that seperation and use my other WRs on routes that keep the safety from jumping on the outside routes. Against zone I mostly try to flood the middle of the field.

My reads are usually quick short pass, deep lob, flats, then medium length pass. If theres no bump and the D is spread out, in a compression set it should be easy to hit that quick pass on slants, outs, crossing patterns. If the quick pass is taken away with good coverage Ill check deep and if its single coverage Ill lob it on the streak or fade I have. If both of those are covered its likely the flats are open, I usually have a RB in the flats. And people will say how do you have time for those reads if theres a good blitz, but usually if theres good heat that means one of my first 2 reads will be open and I only need 2 or 3 seconds to complete it to those 1st 2 reads.

A basic first down play of mine would be a Weak I Tight Twins pass play, The TE running a 10 yard out, the outside WR running a 5 yard out, the inside WR running a post, the HB motioned out to the side of the WRs on a streak, and the FB(usually my 2nd string HB subbed in at FB) in the flats on the side of the TE. my quick hit would be the 5 yard out, my deep look would be the HB, the flats would be my FB, and the medium length pass would be either the out or the Post

How well ANY offense works is all based on how you run it.

i agree with you i wanted the uninformed to know that there are no secret plays that are compression plays.one thing i like to do with it is use motion and formshifts to diguise which compressed set i am actually in because we all have tendencies in certain forms. i have found its easier to diguise your formation than change your tendencies espspecially in the heat of the game.
