Urgent Help

Hello, im new to this forum as you can probly tell by this being my 1st post and im here for advice. I've recently got Madden 07 and really love it, but am not particularly great at it. Nonetheless, im definitly capable of beating my bragging friend, i just need a few more pointers.
We've played 3 times, and I've lost 2 (one being in OT, the other losing horribly), and on the third one his Xbox froze when i had the ball in the 4th down 60-59.
As you can tell by the score, i dont have to much problems scoring on him, and i keep it to short passes and screens mostly because he picked me off 7 times one game. My run game is pretty weak, and he always seems to get at me before i can do anything, but that's for latter, what i really need help with is my Defence
Basically, he can almost score w/e he wants. He'll run the ball for some short yards, but i mostly dominate him when he tries. It's just, when ever its 3rd down or he feels like getting big yardage, he'll go deep to some1 like Marvin Harrison (he's playing colts =P) and he ALWAYS cathces it. Not till after the 3 games did i find out how to audible a man over to double coverage, but i would manually help out the comp to cover him and he would still catch it over both of us.
So what im asking is do you think ill be okay now that i know how to double coverage him with audible, or is there a play i can run to stop him easier. Also, if i audible a person over, from which position should i audible the person from (MLB, SS?)

Welcome to the forum. First of all the deep ball is difficult to stop so you are not alone. You said that he is in 3rd and long and goes deep to Harrison. You also said that you run 4/3. On 3rd and long you need to atleast go to nickle to get an extra corner in the game. Also look to see if he is using play action on that down or just a normal passing play. If he is using play action alot you must use the commit option especially if you run zone coverage. Otherwise they will bite hard and he will be wide open. The commit is used to let your defense know what the play is immediately after the ball is hiked. If you don't want to use that play man coverage. Also manually helping out and swatting the ball is great. Look at these options and you will slow him down considerably. Also are you playing all pro atleast? 60 points a game is alot of offense.

Yes, he usually does play action when he goes deep. Ill be sure to go to nickel when i know its coming. For the commit thing, is there some buttons you press, cause im not sure how to do it (Got Madden 2 days ago). And yeah, i think we are playing like pro or all pro, but he hasnt had the game much longer than i have so maybe he doesnt feel ready to make it harder, or just doesnt feel like changing it.(we were at his house)

For the commit thing, is there some buttons you press, cause im not sure how to do it

just after the offense snaps the ball you can move the right thumbstick up (xbox) if you think it's a pass

and down if you think it's a center run
left if you think its a run to the left of the offense
right if you think its a run to the right of the offense

it will make a big difference, especially on play actions, your defenders won't bite!!

But if you guess it's a run and it's a pass your in big trouble.
